Does this count as Rickrolling? Here I am innocently scrolling down your post when suddenly RA/NGGYU pops up. Yeah, it's not exactly hidden but it is stashed away at the bottom of the list...
LOL! Nope...no Rick Rolling. I actually like the song. Don't know why it gets such bad publicity. Was just listening to my pop playlist and he happened to be the last tune I added here. He's still around and from what I've seen, he's a pretty decent person.

Really like Together Forever too...

Blame 4Chan for that. They used it as a joke to troll people for various (mostly political) purposes, as well as spoiling the end of the last Harry Potter book. It took off from there, but rather backfired, as it was their political attempts were co-opted by the joke, and the fact that it make Rick money, plus made him even more relevant than he had been in 1988.

In fact, You should have a listen to Dance, by Rick's album, 50 (slight nod to Adele's 18 and 24 albums). In fact, here:

Guest appearances by Matthew McConaughey as God, and Jake Gyllenhaal as the Devil. But even more so, the guy that is dancing with the Devil (no pun intended) is the same guy that was dancing as the bartender in Never Gonna Give You Up.

BL.

I really liked that. Thank you for sharing!

This was SO painful to watch. Supposedly the gig where daltrey fired Zach Starkey from The Who; he did nothing wrong. Pete could hardly stand up.
I've never been a huge Who fan, although I did get to see them, 5th row center-right, their first tour after they lost Keith (~1980), and to this day, in my Top-5 concerts of all time. They needed to retire, a long time ago, based on this. "Hope I die before I get old", indeed.... ☺️

While I am largely in agreement with you, unfortunately, these days, - not least with the relative demise of the more traditional forms of income from music (LPs, CDs, royalties, from radio stations, etc) - not to mention the modern music market (based on streaming, apps, etc) some of the legendary groups stand to make far more money from touring than by any other means.

Hence, the occasionally unedifying sort of spectacle that you have described.

Now, some artists manage this very well - such as Paul McCartney, who loves the adrenalin that comes from performing live, and who has a terrific work ethic, and has looked after himself - his concerts are still incredible.

However, others are clearly past it, and have become either pitiful or parodies of themselves.

I am currently listening to a few tracks from Jethro Tull, this wet Friday afternoon, in late June.

Tracks, or songs, include: Bouree, (which is an unusual and quite striking instrumental piece), We Used To Know (which, as it happens, predates Hotel California, and which well, may remind one of the better known track), the lovely Reasons For Waiting, and the quite wonderful Living In The Past.

I’ve been watching some of the UK BBC coverage of Glastonbury festival. Stumbled upon a live broadcast of Australian band Parcels yesterday evening. Really impressed. I hadn't heard of them before but I watched their whole set (apart from the opening number or two, which I’d missed; catching up on that today) and their performance and connection with the audience was so joyous it was a real pleasure to have discovered them in this way. Very satisfying sound: two lots of keyboards, guitar, bass, and drums plus multi-vocals. The crowd bopped in the late sunshine and celebrated, just as it should be. After watching I headed straight to eBay and got the band’s double album Day/Night for a great price before any other fellow discoverers beat me to it.

This link may not work for those outside the UK but here it is, anyway.

I read that Neil Young put in a pretty good set.

Yep. It got great reviews. Apparently, before his scheduled appearance, he didn’t want the BBC broadcasting his show, and then subsequently changed his mind. But I tried to find his set amongst the assorted footage and was unsuccessful. Maybe he changed his mind again. I’d love to have watched it.
