Crazily enough, I can see the market for this.

If you've got it on your iPhone, your either insanely idiotic to spend so much on a picture and abit of 'advisable' information, or, as you say, your insanely rich.

It will become a status symbol. "Hey look, I can afford the Diamond Application!"

Very (I was going to say 'clever' but I'll stick with 'unique' ..) concept, but it's not for everyone  as it states.

How the hell does something like this get into the app store?!?

I thought some of the junk in the app store already was a bit much, but this takes the pee. How can Apple pull something like Netshare without any explanation and allow this?

It really does make a mockery of the length of time some developers have had to wait for their apps to go through Apple's QA process. If Apple's QA process was worth anything they would be weeding out the junk like this, otherwise what's the point in QA at all?

honestly, i think its a GREAT app to have in the store, and the developers are GENIOUS! if they sell it ONCE to someone who JUST wants it for a status thing, then THEY WIN!!

they are smart.. dont be jealous because you didnt think of it.

Seriously, i would be interested to see if that app does start popping up more places. I would think it might because now that the newer iphones are cheaper, more people have them and the actual IPHONE is not a status symbol anymore. there are ALWAYS guys out tehre that HAVE to show their status, so that would now be the ONLY way to do it through your phone.. So why not? I mean, i can give a HUGE list why not, like starving people in the city 2 towns over.. but why not in the sense of WHY is a diamond app any more ridiculous that a $17,000 purse?? or a $120,000 pair of cufflinks?

As hilarious as I think this is, I really think Apple should moderate the App Store.

I'm really offended Apple approved this app. I am the biggest capitalist but we have to draw a line somewhere. With millions of people starving in the world, approving this app is just encouraging w**kers. You know someone will waste the money and buy it. It is just wrong.

For the love of God. Someone please develop a free version of this to take the piss.

This app should donate the profits to a charity, or something. Otherwise its hysterical that Apple let this application through into the App Store.

That is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen!. Why the hell would anybody pay $1000 for a picture of a fake jewel. What a waste. Even if I was a billionaire, I would not buy this app for the iphone. DUMB DUMB DUMB. I feel bad for developers whose 'useful' apps were turned down by apple, when crap like this shows up in the app store. Apple could have turned this down, and another developer could have had his/her app on the store.

Some apple fanboys are seriously on drugs. Who would pay 1k for a screen saver? I can make that for free on my pc. Smh

The only status I can see this app conveying is that of "COMPLETE AND UTTER ****"

Seriously, how does this carry any status? Firstly, you'd be idiotic to buy it, and secondly, anyone could make the same app and sell it for free.

I would laugh at a person who pays for this app then loses their iphone. $1300+ wasted!

I think he put it there to hopefully draw attention to his other program(s), which he mentions in the description. Plus, on the 2% chance that somebody actually buys it (even by accident), he's made 10x his money back.

Hahahahahahaha......

I just wrote a review for it. I love this app.

Unless they ever sync their iPhone, which creates an automatic backup of each app. Not to mention you can re-download it at any time for free as long as you use the same iTunes store account that you purchased it with.

Real diamonds are status symbols because they're rare, but pictures of diamonds are a dime a dozen.

If anyone buys this thing it will be an accident, and then Apple will have some serious **** to deal with.

Someone should release a free version of this that looks the exact same, or at least very similar, but uses cubic zirconia.

Best idea yet.

Agreed x2.

Classic.

The real question is, would anyone really be impressed if someone showed them that they spent $999 on a picture of a red diamond? Or would they just think that that person is pretty dumb?

On the other hand, the developer is pretty smart for thinking of this and actually getting it approved. Hopefully he'll make some coin off of people's stupidity.....

Just blogged on it, it's hilarious.

How did this get through the so-called vetting process? - I mean seriously.

Do you know what I think - if it's not a physical 'threat' to the iPhone OS, Apple are letting it onto the App Store.
