i found it annoying and disabled it.

it really is a gimmickery apple comes up with when they can't really find anything new anymore.

My plan was to lock the phone with the double back tap from now on but it doesn’t work reliably with the case I use. Triple back tap is set to screenshot.

I'll say again that I'm surprised at how many have one of the options set to screenshot. Why are you all screenshotting so much?
It's like widgets. When I installed the first iOS 14 beta, I pretty much used every widget in at least one size, and litttered my homescreens with them. Then, as boredom set in and sanity returned (plus the stupid things never updated properly) I pared it right down.

I imagine people are setting a backtap to take a screenshot because ... "why not and what else should I do with it?" rather than because they're taking loads of screenshots. Or, maybe they're taking screenshots of homescreens full of widgets to post in the "show us your homescreen" thread :)

I totally get that, and I don't mean to derail my own thread but I take a screenshot like maybe once a week. But as another poster said, perhaps people just don't know what to do with this feature yet so they default to the familiar. Or I'm in the minority and everybody just takes a lot of screenshots.

Not only is screenshot not normally possible with one hand, it demands precise timing and actually remembering which Vol button to press.

Double Tap: Home.
Triple Tap: Screenshot.

My wife and I do send each other a fair number of screenshots every day - things we read, see, etc. That said, I can't think of anything else I'd put there. So ... there's that.

Kinda cool, I didn't know this existed before just now. lol. I read this thread earlier in the week and was like " What? " - and moved on only to come back and go - oh cool, a new feature I missed!

I probably take 2-5 screenshots a day on average. Admittedly, there can be an entire weekend that goes by without me taking one... but my "Recently Deleted" folder usually has 30-60 screenshots in it at any given point.

2 taps = screentime (to quickly kill access to my kids' devices)
3 taps = wyze app...(i have multiple wyze devices)

Might not be connected to frequent use as much as much simpler use in situations when it's needed.

I started with double tap for a new entry in my Things 3 inbox but it triggered too often by accident so now I have it on triple tap. I still don't use it as the shortcut in my dock is way faster to access

Alright, my latest...

Double tap: launch native camera app
Triple Tap: Toggle display of notification center

Turned it off. Was triggering accidentally too many times just putting the phone down.

Could you tell me how you do that with open settings?
It runs a shortcut that does nothing else apart from open the Settings app. You can therefore have the taps open any app you like.
