email from Pitaka regarding availability of a case for the Air that includes PitaTap

Regarding the iPhone Air case with PitaTap, we appreciate your interest. The PitaTap version will be available in our next stock batch. Due to structural changes in the camera control button of the Air model, we are optimizing the capacitive button for a more stable and responsive experience. This requires real-device testing, and the exact stock date has not been finalized yet.

I am planning to use my Air exactly as i was mostly using my Pro Maxs during the past few years.

Without a case but using a sleeve/pouch.

For pouches (in Europe), I’d recommend FitBag: https://www.fitbag.com/ used them across several iPhones in the past, including my current 15 Pro. The material is quite soft and ‘floppy’ though so there’s absolutely 0 drop protection, just protection from scratches.

Actually gonna switch back to a lightweight, thin case this time around though for my Air, for outdoor use. I found the pouch annoying when outdoors… when taking the phone out of my bag to quickly check something, or to show an e-ticket on public transport, I found myself awkwardly holding the pouch between my fingers or behind the phone.

So..... Fed-Ex delivered my Air battery yesterday afternoon. It was on my desk this morning, behind my locked door.

Well well well.. I go to open the box and it had been opened, no battery inside. The only person that enters my locked office when I'm not there is my PA. I trust her 1000%, but just to be sure nobody slid in, I went to the tapes..nobody entered all day except her. I reviewed the lobby door to reception. Fed-Ex driver came in, handed it to her, she walked it into my room straight away and closed the door behind her. Nobody entered again until I did at 8am this morning. Total gut punched feeling. Called Apple, they were amazingly good and I'll have another no later than Thursday 10am.

tl;dr Someone at Fed-Ex nicked my battery, either at the shipping facility or the driver. Apple is replacing

Spigen clear case, however I’ll try the Air mostly caseless.

I’ve ordered the Apple clear silicone case for my Sky Blue. I’d prefer to go case-less, but with hard flooring throughout the entire apartment I’d better not take the risk. Not sure I’ll stick with the clear case, but needed something from day one that has MagSafe for my various stand chargers.

Interesting – any recommendations?
Adore June & Fitbag are my go tos. And for something more special i usually buy a leather one as well from ETSY (there are tons of options).

Fitbag is slimmer and super tight fit. Adore June its a bit thicker and the phone comes in and out a bit easier. I do prefer Adore June a tad more.

Wow! Im glad Apple was able to replace. Thats a bummer!

I will probably rock mine with no case while at home, but I currently use a Suti phoneback for my 16 PM. I am still debating what to use with travel, because I really do want to avail myself of the cross body strap but at home I don't see a need to cover the phone. I'll be curious if any cool aftermarket bumpers come out with tabs that can accommodate the apple cross-body straps.
I had thought about ordering the Suti but the site says is 44g (pro) or 52g (pro max). Is it really that heavy? That seems off for just a back to weigh more than most cases.

People buying the iPhone Air, are you buying the battery as well. I was going to wait and see if the battery life can handle my normal day of usage.
I'm holding off on it for now. Based on the reviews, the battery life on the Air should exceed that of the 15 Pro (at 100% capacity). I can usually get through an entire day outdoors, or in the office, even on my 15 Pro at 88% capacity, so no reason why that wouldn't hold with the Air. The types of scenarios where I'm glued to my phone - on a train, flight, etc - there's usually a USB socket available to keep things topped up where necessary anyway.

Still unsure about what case to get though... I'll be using it caseless at home, as I did with the 15 Pro, but really would like something slim and light that'd at least protect the camera bump when placed on a desk, e.g. in restaurants or bars. Since the case would be put on and taken off frequently, I quite like ones with a microfibre lining to prevent scratches, and are flexible to allow easy removal (the Apple silicone cases are great for this, but not available for the Air...). Considering the Beats case, because that one looks somewhat flexible on the edges, and microfibre lined.

I did.. it'll likely live in my backpack for extreme situations. My daily use pattern will likely not require it, I have MagSafe in car and office that I use regularly

I will be purchasing the battery on release day when i pick up my Air.
