Grabbed a maroon ("Fine Port", officially) Otterbox Symmetry. I had some extra cash leftover from my 7 Plus trade-in after grabbing a set up Airpods. I'll likely pick up a Nomad case or something similar, but Otterbox has yet to let me down going all the way back to my iPhone 4.

Looks good on a white XR.

Got the Spigen Ultra Hybrid in Matte Black. Looks pretty good. Wish the sides were a little more grippy. But definitely worth it for the price.

Any chance you can take some pictures of it in the case? I want to do the same thing (black leather over red phone) and curious how much of the red is shown. I know that some at the camera cut out, but what about the side buttons or front bezels?

I really like the idea of red hints poking through.
Better late than never. I forgot to take one of the opening for the silent switch, but you can see the red poking through that as well.

Super hot. Thanks for showing. How does that case feel width wise? I bought a stupid silicon one from Best Buy and really makes it feel bulky, and super wide in my hands. Love the phone naked right now, but that is not substainable

Thanks for posting.

I was leaning toward a transparent case but then I saw this - it’s classy and appears to be slim and good quality, but allows the color of the phone to show through in a few places. This is definitely in the running. I think the black would pair best with my blue XR, but I like the tan too. Not sure the latter actual compliments the blue though (I’m terrible with colors and fashion lol).

Only a mm or two. Much the same thickness as the genuine Apple leather cases if you’ve ever had one of those. So it doesn’t offer a ton of drop protection but it does give grip, a little cushion and feels like quality leather without adding too much to the size.

Despite the photo, the camera bump is actually protected. Just barely. There’s a bevel in the opening, and I bet the clearance is less than 1mm when the phone is lying on its back. But it’s enough to keep the lens clear of the surface it’s laying on. There’s a good 1-2mm screen clearance when the phone is lying face-down too.

I bought the same case ... black on a red phone. It really looks classy.
I'm impressed. Great grip, good protection and you can see the color of the phone!
Easy to use the buttons too.
It's working great with my wireless charger.
Best of all, I suspect it will be less expensive than the Apple leather case and, via Amazon, no tax

I tried a speck presidio clear case that was garbage. It was scratched after using it for one day and it was very difficult to use the volume and power buttons.

I’ve got the black leather for my white XR. It looks classy, is of high quality and feels great. It’s basically a copy of the Apple leather cases but I think the quality of the leather is better. It’s also a little cheaper. Hard to tell how much drop protection it has but I dropped my old Plus iPhones with Apple leather case multiple times and they were fine.

I did try a clear case. They look good initially but I’d forgotten what a finger print magnet all clear cases are. I quickly got annoyed having to regularly wipe it down. They also feel cheap. Personally I’m not a fan of covering a glass and metal phone in plastic but I appreciate that people have different tastes.

I couldn't make a choice so I ordered several caces.
Today the Spiegen Ultra Hybrid Matte case, Azuri Ruggedized Combar, Symmetry Black and Clear, Otterbox Statement and SolidSuit Classic will arrive.
I'll post some pictures tonight.

I bought the Spigen Thin Fit 360 on Amazon Sunday and should get it today. I also just ordered the Leather case someone listed here. I got my XR on Sunday as well.. working on day 2 with it..

I have the spigen liquid crystal on my blue Xr. I got the glitter version and love it. Also ordered a presidio grip. And will grab a few more. I like to swap cases.

Ok, I receive all the cases that I ordered.

OTTERBOX STATEMENT
+ design
+ grib is very good!
- it's a huge case
- really too thick

OTTERBOX SYMMETERY BLACK
+ comes over the edge at the front
+ it looks like it is really protected from falling.
- don't like this kind of material / very plastic feeling

OTTERBOX SYMMETERY CLEAR
+ comes over the edge at the front
+ the material is nice and soft
- bulky

AZURI RUGGEDIZED HARD COVER
+ looks and feels great
+ easy to clean
+ doen't make the Xr bulky
- the front isn't protected, case doesn't come over the edge

SPIGEN ULTRA HYBRID BLACK MATTE
+ this material feels so nice
+ comes over the edge at the front
+ absolutely not bulky
- grib
- curious whether it gives good fall protection

RHINOSHIELD SOLIDSUIT CLASSIC BLACK
+ very light case!
+ grib is more then good
+ comes over the edge at the front
- bulky / bezels look bigger

CONCLUSION
I like the protection of the Rhinoshield. Only I find the SolidSuit really too thick so it quickly becomes ugly.
I still hesitate to exchange the SolidSuit for a Crash Guard MOD NX.
For now I will keep the Spigen Ultra Hybrod. For the price you get a very nice/clean case, thats doens't make the Xr bulky and the materiaal feels very nice. The Spigen compared with the Rhinoshield case, I doubt whether the Spigen offers good protection during a high fall!

I’m taking the classy route and awaiting delivery of a £2.99 clear case from eBay it’s really just to see if I like using the phone in a case!

Ordered a Nomad Rugged case (brown) today that should hopefully be here by the weekend.
