Not sure but looking at the pics the ringke case provides a lip to prevent the screen from touching the table and covers the top and bottom of the phone also.

Looks slightly thicker.

I've actually been using ringke brand slim cases for a while now and do agree the lay on the table lip is missing from the case I had originally posted. I might still go back to ringke if I get the urge to go back to a slim hard case.
I prefer not to have too much lip on a case as I don't like feeling it when I swipe on the edge of the screen. I never really liked the slits that were cut out in the corners on the Ringke cases, but I guess they are necessary on this type of case to be able to apply and remove the case with relative ease.

Forgot to mention that the case does give some grip to the phone, not a lot but enough to feel confident holding it. I've noticed the grip improving in the short time I've had it, possibly from my greasy fingers.

How does this compare to the Caudabe? (if you have it)?
It's nothing like the Caudabe cases, completely different materials. The Caudabe Veil is a flimsy and thin, almost skin type plastic that snaps on your case. The Caudabe Sheath is a TPU style case which is very flexible.

The Torras case is a rigid, but still very thin hard plastic snap on case. I've been a massive Caudabe fan since my iPhone 6, but have had issues with their cases stretching and warping over time.

It's definitely going to be more protective than the Veil XT style ultra-slim cases, but probably not as protective as the Sheath cases.

I have to say, as someone who hates cases on their iPhones, I broke down over the weekend and purchased the Shumuri Slim case for my 7 from Amazon. I was getting tired of constantly wiping the fingerprints from the back of my phone (have matte black). The case fits perfectly and most of the time I don't even know I have a case on it. Plus, I love the fact that I don't have to keep wiping that back of my phone with my shirt or microfiber cloth.

After doing some research for the perfect case to fit my needs, I settled on the Caudabe The Sheath case and I absolutely love it. It provides just the right amount of protection without adding any unnecessary bulk. It's a perfectly tight fit, the cutouts are excellent, and the buttons are very easy to press with great feedback feel.

I have it paired with the ZAGG Glass+ Luxe screen protector and absolutely love the combination.

View attachment 692538 Just picked up this case.

Pretty much checks off every box on my list except keeping the bulk to an absolute minimum.

  • Drop protection
  • Kick stand
  • Grippy
  • Built in magnet mount plate
  • Low cost
  • Minimal branding
Only possible con is that the clear case will eventually start to yellow. I hope they come out with a solid color version.

Damn you. I bought this and got it yesterday. I love it! I hope it doesn't yellow, cause I love that it's clear. Of course, then I had to order a magnetic car mount for it.....

Got myself this inkcase which acts as my Kindle and everything cool like changing photos on the case.

Do they have the 7 Plus version of this? I don't see it.

I've gone with the Otter Commuter on my 6S as well as my 7 and they have been well engineered, easily survived the duration of my ownership of each device, and have given me more than enough protection and functionality

I have Sprint's iPhone Forever plan and so, as soon as a new version becomes available from Apple, I take my current device in to Sprint and swap it for the newest version/device with no questions asked…except one…

…is the older device still in pristine, like-new condition? - because if it is scratched up (the chassis or the screen), or has some issue with functionality (like buttons or cameras that aren't working), a cracked screen or bent chassis, etc, etc, etc

In other words, they look very closely at the trade in and if you want to avoid any extra charges, the device must be tip-top

Well, I carry my phone in my front pocket and cannot stand thick, sticky silicone laden cases like the Otter Defender because I can't get it in and out of my pocket and it is a case that comes with a belt clip as that is the carry method it is designed for

The Otter Commuter is a simple 2 piece design that starts with a form fitting silicone wrap that then has a hard plastic cover case that firmly presses into place over the top of the silicone

It's thin and lightweight and minimalistic and the hard plastic portion covers most, but not all of the grippy silicone beneath it - so it has strategically exposed soft corner bumpers and a surround for the screen with a soft and a hard lip, and well-placed (and textured) edge exposures that make for a sure grip when using the device, but do not come into play when you are on the move and the phone is in and out of pockets, purses, etc

I put the case on my new device before I leave the store and, besides removing it occasionally for a general cleaning, it stays on until I take the device in to trade for the newest device, and when the case comes off, the phone emerges in pristine condition

I'm not careless with my iPhones and I usually will have 2-3 waist level to the ground type dropping incidents over a 2 year ownership period, along with normal exposure to the "single Dad with two boys" adventures and the perils that accompany them, and the minimalist Otter Commuter handles it with aplomb
