Silver all the way for me!

Don’t get me wrong, I love the colors and am glad they’re brightening the iMacs up after years of the same look. But, all my Apple things are silver, and I love how it reminds me of the old silver aluminum cinema displays, which are some of my favorite Apple designs. If they didn’t have the silver I’d probably go with the green.

My spontaneous instinct is blue .... but yellow has the “oh, be different” appeal 😊

With the back of the iMac being the most colourful, will many who purchase have it facing a wall?
This seems more suitable to place with the back facing inwards so it gets seen.

I will probably hold out for the larger model, but I might just go for the purple. ETA: I played with the augmented reality feature on Apple's Imac page and discovered that purple will probably look horrid in my home, so I'd get a yellow one at this point.

I kinda wish the bezel and chin had the same color, along with the stand.

The reason for the desaturated front panel is that strong colors can interfere with color-sensitive design work.

I own an upgraded 2011 21.5 and I’m interested in a new iMac given I’m stuck at High Serra, but I’m not desperate for a new machine given my current one runs great. I can wait to see what the forthcoming larger iMac will offer before I commit.

But based on what we’ve seen so far I’m really intrigued by the green as an option to silver. The green tone of the front is essentially the same as whats available on the iPad Air. The darker green on the back looks nice as well.

did you watch the keynote? they actually mentioned the back color being the first thing that you usually see when you walk into an office. (but i agree as far as a home computer... both hubby's and my computer backs face the wall.)

My instinct was green, because I have a natural tan and white interior with some green plants. But the more I look at it, the less I think the green works. It's more like a sea green than a plant green, which is making me indecisive. I like all the colors and can't choose.

That's intentionally part of the design - it is supposed to look good in upscale retail environments and office reception areats.

I’m not surprised seeing silver as the most popular option. IIRC graphite was the most popular color of the G3 iMac.

Well, I just pulled the trigger. Earlier I said I didn't care about color (and I really don't) but I ended up with Blue only because 1) it doesn't look horrible and 2) that's what was pre-selected as the color choice. :p

I ordered around lunch time today. I did end up with the yellow, which pushed back my shipping date by like a month from the same config in blue :/

Same here, took the blue iMac figuring it sort of matches my iPhone 12.

Delivery window is so far: 5/21-5/27.

Time to start tracking from China ??

I agree with all posters who would prefer a consistent color and was going to agree about the rich, saturated colors e.g., British racing green, Solid red, for future machines until the info was presented about strong monitor colors interfering with photo, film, and other color work. White bezels don't bother me. In fact, if a pure, strong all white machine was offered, that would be my choice. Anyway, I ended up buying the Green, as my bedroom and bath are a soft sage, spa green and this is where the new iMac will reside.
