Right, these pretty and colorful new baseline iMacs are not meant for professionals in the arts: photography, cinematography, videography, graphics..... they're meant for the consumer at home, for schools, and for the reception desks in many office settings.
You couldn't be more wrong in your opinion. These are very powerful machines with great graphics from the M1 chip. With a 4.5K Retina display it's perfectly suitable for professionals who work in the arts. You're trying to downplay the iMac for some weird reason and frankly it's quite disturbing.

Same here, took the blue iMac figuring it sort of matches my iPhone 12.

Delivery window is so far: 5/21-5/27.

Time to start tracking from China ??
Hmm, I hadn't really thought about it, but now that you mention it, blue also matches my blue iPhone (and coincidentally, though I hadn't really thought about it, it happens to match the walls in my home office.

Well, I just pulled the trigger. Earlier I said I didn't care about color (and I really don't) but I ended up with Blue only because 1) it doesn't look horrible and 2) that's what was pre-selected as the color choice. :p
I went for blue as well for fairly similar reasons. I asked my wife if she had a preference and she said blue or silver. Blue being the preselected colour (and being fairly popular on this poll so that I knew I wasn’t buying one that nobody likes) was the main factor.

I have to say that, whilst I’m not fussed about colour generally, I do quite like the idea of the computer, keyboard and trackpad all matching and being slightly different from the silver of my old Mac. That may have pushed me away from
Silver anyway.

I am flip flopping between yellow & blue atm; yellow matches the natural & wood textures in my 🏡, and i like blue. Whilst the back of the blue matches my iPhone Pro Max I can’t say the same for the lighter shade of blue at the front.

For what it's worth (probably not much), Max Tech (A pretty decent Apple YouTube Channel) mentioned at least one reason not to get one of the "interesting" colors like Yellow or Pink, or Orange, etc. That reason is sellability. Should you decide to sell it later (say if you decided to upgrade later to the rumored bigger M1x iMac), he made the point that a silver or blue are pretty neutral colors that would be apealing to a larger population of potential buyers than some of the other colors. So his point was, if you are planning to possibly sell it later for a bigger model, you might be better off with silver or blue, whereas if you are going to keep it for the long haul then get whatever color tickles your fancy. No idea which camp you're in, but just food for thought.

Thnx , if I ever whip out the wallet for this I intend keeping for the long haul. In the interim I will wait until I see it first hand

Good plan. I was torn between ordering now or waiting to see what the future holds (i.e., a possib;e 30-32 version with more memory, etc). But my current 27" iMac is over 10 years old now and getting very long in the tooth. I really needed an upgrade now so I decided to pull the trigger. Whether I keep it or decide to upgrade to a bigger version later remains to be seen.

Either Yellow, Orange or Blue (probably the safest choice after silver) but I can't decide which. I think I'll wait for the reviews to arrive.

I'd get the Blue.. with dbrand skin for the bezels

I like the rose, the orange and the purple colors the most. I bought the rose (pink) for my wife and I am thinking about getting one for me too..
My second option would be orange. Blue is also nice, but not my color.

I’d go for purple myself, but my wife prefers yellow, so we’d get that instead.
The vloggers, media and press have already received their evaluation units 3 days early.

Check out the unboxing of all the colors on YT:

Do they get to keep them or do they have to return them to Apple after evaluation ?
