Thing is people seem to miss some details and go flying off the handle. Apple didn’t say latest pc chip. They said latest pc laptop chip (can’t remember if in live event if they said single core). In my book if someone says UP TO I don’t consider that mean absolutely. Up to 2x. They never said fully unleashed it was double. These are the things that come across as hyperbole and knee jerk reactions to statements that weren’t actually made.

Check the product page and you’ll see bold statements with quantified that aren’t necessarily all speaking about the same goalposts. Vague yes. Shady? Not a chance.

Bold also doesn’t mean without limits. Apple still purchase from intel. I wouldn’t want to make them look bad by name in a media conference. That can influence stock prices as well. Namely intel’s.

Finally Renoir probably lies in that 2% of CPUs M1 isn’t faster than. Shady would have been Apple saying M1 is faster than all CPUs in my opinion. This implies Apple did compare M1 to many CPUs including Renoir.

Finally what does Apple have to win by being shady? If the M1 is garbage we find out in a shorter timeframe than the period of time the refreshed air, pro and mini would be available for and their sales take a hit anyway.
Meh, I was referring to mobile chips which why I mentioned chips of up to 45w. And you’re incorrect. Go look at their website, they said double the MULTITHREADED performance of the latest PC Laptop chip. By being selective in scores they can generate hype and more people can buy they systems, most people won’t bench these systems so they have plenty to gain by being shady.

As a M1 owner i never said its garbage, its excellent.

Mac notebooks generally get a refresh at least every 6-12 months.

So by next year you'll get an M2
