Just finished AC:Unity on the PS4.

Overall it was a solid game but Ubi should've baked it some more before release. The game is the most challenging of the series yet (people really want to kill you), which is fine. But technical issues make that more apparent. Controls go wonky at times and/or framerate/animation goes out the window for a second or two which means you're either spotted or killed. I'm sure things are better now but i don't feel like replaying the patched version.

Paris is pretty and very well done. Characters are well done and support cast for missions is really good. Even though everyone in Paris seem to be perverts who love drinking and making out in street corners.

There's a lot of content, its a massive and intricate map once you've synced all viewpoints.

The economy aspect is also the best in the series thus far in my opinion. Very easy to make money. At the end i had like 300 grand in my pocket with nothing to do with it AND more money was available if i wanted it.

Story was ok but i despised the ending, so much so that i just stopped playing after the credits. Instead of my usual go and do the side missions.

Overall i'd rate it a C- without the patches, B+ with.

I hope the Dead Kings DLC is decent.

I finished Doom 64 last night. Brought back lots of good memories playing that game long into the night back in the day..lol.
On to Turok 2: Seeds of Evil, though i doubt I'll be sticking with it very long. I tried it very briefly this summer when I got my 2nd N64 console (at a garage sale for $5!) just to make sure the console worked. In that brief test Turok didn't seem that great, but I'll see....

Turok does NOT hold up! Poor thing, used to love that in multiplayer as a kid (that cerebral bore weapon!). Tempted to dig my N64 out too. I picked up a tube TV for retro games. Got my SNES, NES, Mega Drive and Amiga hooked up at the moment.

Started The Vanishing of Ethan Carter - quite nice so far. Never played Myth back then (and was in fact rather hostile against such a concept - too 'grown up' for a young lad I guess) but would think it's quite similar in concept - and execution (top notch graphics - avoid of real action, puzzles).

Other than that I'm on pause with Alien: Isolation which I will getting on soon again and Cod:AW, having plenty of fun with that - if only the player base wouldn't be that hostile/infantile! :(

Indeed. I played Turok 2 for about 2 hours last night. Ended up putting in cheats to warp around to the different levels and play around with the weapons. The cerebral bore is demented, lol! Overall not a very good game now. Controls are pretty bad, graphics are ok but the frame rate is horrible.

If I had the room for one I'd have one of those old TVs just for my old consoles. Sadly I'll never be able to play Duck Hunt on my HDTV. :(

Now I'm on to Super Mario 64!

Dragon Age inquisition is killing my life !!! It's so good. Playing through as two different characters one on Xb1 and the other PS4 and making consciously different choices so that I can see the game from both ends.

In about an hour I'm finally going to start playing Shadow of Mordor on my PS4. I've had it for quite a while now but I've not had chance to play it.

Awesome. I've heard great things about that game. Seeing as you're playing on both consoles at once, do you notice any difference between them? I don't mean to start a stupid console war but I'm genuinely curious. Regardless, I'm sure it looks beautiful on both. :)

I'm about to start Lords of the Fallen, Titanfall and Sunset Overdrive on the XboxOne.

Please tell me Titanfall still have an active community on XBL.

I am relocating for my job career and packed up my Wii U, PS4, and XB1.

My backlog of games just got 10 times longer as I wont see them for at least a month or 2.

I have been playing Gun Game for the last two days. It is a lot of fun.

When knifing, the kitchen area and bar area on Strikezone is the best location for victims.

A couple of hints when shooting:

On Freight, the third floor location between the tracks and lumber yard is excellent for picking off victims.

On Prison Break, the top of the red/white trailer is a great location for camping and knocking off a few that go running by.

Honestly, its very marginally sharper on PS4, but I've noticed texture streaming is slower on PS4 than XB1.

But to be honest the differences are so small it's not worth worrying about.

Enjoying it on both ... Its an excellent game. Benefit of playing it on both is that when I play these games with quite dramatic choices you have to make I always feel I'm doing something wrong by not going one way over the other, with playing it on both its very interesting to see the game and characters change quite dramatically on each system.

Haven't played Titanfall for months. I noticed after first expansion I began losing interest. I haven't even played it since getting the other expansions in the season pass..... Was really entertaining, but its like a summer action movie, enjoyable nonsense but soon forgotten.

Best of luck on the new job Cnasty regardless.

I've been very curious about that. Never played a Dragon Age game before. Can I play Inquisition as a newbie, or will I be totally lost? I just don't see myself having the time to play the other two (or is it three?) games first. Would that be a mistake?

I'm not a HUGE rpg fan, but I absolutely loved the Mass Effect games. How do they compare in terms of storytelling and character depth?

Yes totally. Whilst you can import your history of previous games it makes no real difference only some of your allies mention things that happened in the past just as conversation. It makes no difference to how the game plays out in this one.

As a mass effect fan, you'd like this. :). It's more action adventure RPG, and yeah character depth can be very deep in Inquisition, it just depends on how much about each of your party you wish to get to know..... Romancing options are far better in this one too and not as easy or quick to pull off, meaning if you want to have a go at one of your party, your gonna have to really work for it...

Edit.... Just realised I have over 60 hours on my XB1 save and still feel I have a huge amount to do!

Thanks MRU. I really appreciate that as it is an exciting, nerve wracking experience as I have never lived outside the state of Florida and leaving a job I have been at for over 14 years.

Excited for what the future holds though in this adventure and will miss my gaming for sure!:)

Sometimes those big changes whilst scary are in hindsight the best things to happen at that moment in time :) really wish ye well.

Besides gaming will always be around when things settle and you have a moment to yourself. :) besides it just means you have an exciting backlog when you eventually do :)

Now I'm on to Super Mario 64!

I remember Turok...the controls were...meh...but I still remember the first time I roamed out, looked up into the sun and saw the lense flare!

Super Mario 64! Now there's one for the ages...I think the graphics aren't as impressive now, but the gameplay sure stands the test of time.

Good luck! Why, it's only been 15 years since I left Gainesville (but I was only there for a year as a post-doc).

I can honestly say, I've always seemed to benefit from moving around and taking on new job challenges. At the time, it was difficult, but looking back, I can see how it helped my career. I hope it does the same for yours!

Pfft, just get a handheld console (or 10)!

....and yeah, get a hand held!

AssaultCube, Rome Total War (Europa Barbarorum mod), and Minecraft occasionally.

GoldenEye on N64 holds up for me in single player, except for the lag.

Thanks man I really appreciate the kind words. It's an exciting but scary time moving a family career etc.

Girlfriend got me Super Metroid (SNES cart) and Hyrule Warriors (Wii U) for Christmas so I'm inching through them. I've never played Super Metroid before. It's brilliant!

Oh it definitely does yeah, it's an odd one though. Like playing a 30fps game on PS3 now I find I get used to it after half an hour... and makes going back to 60fps games even nicer.
