Dark Souls alone is enough to keep you busy until February. lol

Tell me about it, I've been inching along. Jury is still out for me on Dark Souls. Love the combat as it requires serious skills, patience, and timing. But setting is a bit dark for my taste and the game is HARD. It's hard to explain, but something about it makes me keep want to playing...

Just set up the Wii U last night.
Will be ripping the shrink wrap off Mario 3D World.
Tonight I will embark on a journey that others have touted as one of the best Mario experiences yet.

Safe to say I am pretty excited.

How far along are you? I Platinum'd Demon's Souls and Dark Souls, don't have Dark Souls II yet. It's one of my favorite game series. After a while you get used to the difficulty and it doesn't seem so bad. It can make other games seem too easy, lol.

I barely scratched the game, only on Undead Burg. I cleared most of the sections and found the dealer that sells the area key and some weapon upgrades, so I now feel compelled to 'farm souls' to get some better equipment and level up a bit before proceeding to the next stage, but that will of course reset the area to have to clear yet again.

The new Super Smash Bros has been excellent for multiplayer so far- what happened to their attempts at single player modes though? This one has barely any.

The creator said something about others spoiling the story for Brawl by uploading all the videos. I don't buy that, I personally think there's more fun to be had in something that's randomly generated and that's what he was going for. Though yeah, Smash Tour is nowhere near as good as Smash Run from the 3DS version, would love to see that brought over to the Wii U.

Hopefully with Nintendo's push at DLC that is possible. Hyrule Warriors for example has had a ton of content added since release.

You have a long, long ways to go yet! LOL
Have you encountered the Taurus Demon yet?

Don't even try to fight the red dragon when you find him, just run away. Although, you can get a pretty decent early game weapon if you shoot a ton of arrows at the tip of his tail to "cut it off".

Long way to go is probably why I'm setting it down for now so I can get some other shorter games in, but definitely plan to pick it up again to sharpen my skills in time for Bloodborne.

Haven't faced the Taurus demon yet, but he's the next boss to face I think. I'm using a wiki on this game to help, so heard about the dragon tail thing, thanks, I might give it a try. I need to buy a bow first though and increase my dexterity.

Thanks for the tips!

Last of Us which is on PSN for less than half price if you have PS+

Super early in though. Haven't even encountered the creepy people.

Pondering if i should switch to easy difficulty or suck it up and play Normal.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare. BAHAHAHAHAHA. What a joke this game is. So pissed I bought this game. And it was a digital download so I can't even sell it.

Now, I'm playing Last of Us and Sniper Elite III. Both pretty good games. And a little GTA V here and there.

Mario 3D World as I just got my Wii U and holy cow is Nintendo dead sexy in HD.

What a fun game.

Per my mini review here:

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/20259933/

It seems like normal is just about right - and we tend to play horror/survival games on the easier levels. We just like engaging with the story, solving puzzles, but aren’t into difficult combat sequences that you have to play over and over and ...

So far, several hours in on normal/default, most combat has a strategic element to figure out (that usually involves stealth, distraction, the order you deal with opponents) vs. just button pounding.

Though I’ll admit, a couple of scenes we escaped through dumb like and running around like a crazy person ( the latter being one of our standard tactics :D )

What a fun game.

Nice!

We scored a Wii U for our little girl for Christmas, though I suspect it’ll become a family favorite :) Picked up that deal at Wally-Mart for the MK8 bundle at $299, plus a $50 gift card, used the card to buy Mario 3D World (so pretty close to $299 for a deluxe Wii-U, MK8 and M3DW  )

This Wii U game looks fantastic, beautiful design, neat looking play mechanics, I bet she would totally dig on it based on the story (might need some help with the RPG elements, though her proficiency with Minecraft is astounding)

Assassins Creed : Unity - despite its technical flaws is a great game (Xbox one)

Ok I've spent a good 8 hours or so now with the game and for the majority of that time I've been overwhelmed by the amount of content in the game. There is just so much to do, it makes Far Cry 4's mass of stuff look tame.

I've only unlocked/uncovered a small area compared to what the map clearly holds and it's crazy the amount of missions available.

I booted up black flag on my PS4 again last night and Unity is a much prettier game even when it's glitching. The difference in population, materials, lighting, world objects make the game such more vibrant populated world compared to what I thought was a great looking game in black flag.

Frame rate issues have not affected me on the Xbox one. I have had one spot of frame rate dropping for a couple of seconds but other than that it's been steady hovering around 30 for my duration of play so far. Really haven't experienced anything like the bugs reported on release (I know Xbox one is meant to be most stable anyway)

By glitches I mean npc characters getting stuck occasionally or dropping into view, but it's not been that common and like I say given the amount of npc's populating the world - it's amazing tech feat and I love really bought into the Paris world.

So what was a hesitant buy and one that I only bought because I got the game for €25 off retail price has turned out to be really great imho.

I'm not sure on the PC or PS4 situation since their patches, but I would definitely recommend the game for Xbox one owners especially if your were put off by the bad reception it received initially.

I'm skipping Unity because of the rushed to market bugs, review embargo, and micro-transactions. This is shady business practice from Ubisoft if you ask me. I'm glad you are enjoying the game and bugs aren't affecting you though.

I have a strict "No gaming with my wife around" policy (my wife works 12 hour shifts 10-14 times a month), but she's on medical leave at the moment, so I'm going to wait until she returns to work to play Unity (XB1).

I have dabbled a bit. Honestly, it feels like an epic AC game, but the bugs are a little annoying and it can be a little slow.

That's my initial impression. I love AC and I appreciate Ubisoft pushing the envelope in terms of the city design. Much like my feelings for Apple for OS X, I would prefer if Ubisoft took a year off to work on their craft a bit after Assassins Creed Victory next year.

Even if they did an Ezio Trilogy remaster for the recent generation in the meantime, I would be pleased.

Yep, the end result of all those NPC's mean that when I go back and play Watchdogs, Mordor, black Flag, Sleeping Dogs and GTA V even, the worlds feel immediately more barren. Yes the technical chinks are hard to dismiss, but after engaging in a very populated Paris it's hard not to forgive ubi. If only they had delayed it to spring to iron out the faults themselves - then I think the reaction it would have received would be very different.

Indeed because of their policy of getting it out for Christmas is may become the victim of their timeline/cycles and because of those reviews be skipped by many people and never reach decent sales figures - whereas whilst they may have missed the Christmas rush by delaying it till spring, it may have sold slightly less, but I imagine a more positively reviewed game would have still sold more in spring than a rushed for Christmas game with very average reviews due to its technical bugs.

Ubi hurt themselves and the franchise, and it's a genuine shame because the game underneath is feeling like my favourite Assassins creed yet.

Just got done playing through Uncharted 1 and 2 on the PS3 - STUNNING games. The acting (motion captured), voice acting, story, graphics. All absolutely top notch.

Currently playing through the 3RD Uncharted, and the consistency of outstanding gameplay and quality never wavers.

A few bugs though, even after the numerous patches, but they are hardly worth noting.

IMO it's the best 3D Zelda after Ocarina of Time. It's no-nonsense, nice and dark, vast, has a real sense of adventure. I doubt we'll get one any time soon but I'm holding out for a HD remake.

*disclaimer= I haven't played Majora's Mask yet!

I'm giving up on Twilight Princess after 8.5 hours. I'm finding it to be really dull and boring. The first dungeon was alright but everything else seems to drag along. Plus I really don't care much for the controls. Wagging the Wii controller around to swing Links sword is a PITA. If the GameCube version wasn't so damn expensive these days I might buy that and give it another try. This was my first Zelda game since playing Zelda 1 and 2 as a kid on NES.
OTOH, Twilight Princess works great as a sleep aid... 10 minutes into playing last night and I was already dozing off. Midna's constant yawning doesn't help..

So now I'm about to hook up my N64 since I'm through with my current collection of Wii games from my backlog. I'm starting with DOOM 64.

The GameCube version is worth it IMO. I actually just beat it for the first time this morning. I got maybe 10 hours into the Wii version a few years ago and gave up because of the controls. I hated it but I've recently been on a mission to beat every Zelda game (I'm on Skyward Sword now) and I really wanted to like Twilight Princess. I took a chance on the GameCube version several months ago and I'm glad I did. Even though it's really the same game, being able to use the GameCube controller made it a much better experience for me. It was going for about $40 on eBay when I bought it, a little more if you wanted a complete version. Considering I got 40 hours out of the game, I'd say it was worth it for me.

You're missing out. I think it's a great game although a lot of people don't like it. I'm looking forward to playing the 3DS version when it comes out.

So just finished playing Uncharted 3 - WOW, incredible game. Words can't describe how awesome and well done the Uncharted games are.

If you've got a PS3, buy them. If you don't have a PS3, buy a PS3, and buy them.

:)

Agreed. I hated wii version and could not get into it because of the controls.

Bought the GameCube version and loved it. Plus it makes Link as intended - left handed and the world is the correct way around.
