I'm on a business trip, so I am away from my 360 and my (now) beloved Mass Effect series (just started #2!).

So, I'm thinking of (finally) playing through Half Life 1. If I finish it, I'll try to get into Half Life 2. I'm nuts over Portal 1&2, and I'm curious to see just what the fuss is over the Half-Life story. Looking forward to it.

To be honest I would have started with HL2

HL was a seminal game but with 1 big elephant in the room issue. The last 1/4 of the original HL is terrible. Awful level structure, I'll conceived platforming sections and horrendously repetitious enemy's and level design that has nothing really to do with the first 3/4 of the game.

The last 1/4 of that game tainted the whole for me.

Thankfully Valve made sure they didn't repeat the same mistakes in HL2 and it's episodes.

I finished HL2 a few years ago, but somehow never came back to play the episodes. I think the HL2 ending confused me too much to really become invested... Is it worth playing the episodes? I still have the Orange Box sitting at home.

Yeah they are good and explain the rather abrupt ending to HL2.

But really if you haven't players them by now and with all the other goodness coming out this year alone, chances are your unlikely too finish them ;)

Good to hear. I played hl1 for about 2 hours, and really struggled with the fact that I was having NO fun. I just wanted to get all the lore and get into the story, but it really looks like I don't need to slog through 1 to get it. I'm moving to number two, thanks!

Yeah you really don't and if you had played the alien world levels - you likely would not have wanted to go play another HL for a long while. Time has been VERY forgiving to that game. HL2 is much superior in every regard.

Yeah, this may be a part of my backlog that will remain unplayed.

I'm just happy there aren't too many exciting titles coming out for PS3 anymore - this finally gives me a chance to catch up before I buy my PS4! :)

I started Splinter Cell Blacklist, but I think I will have to come back to it at a later time. Too similar, yet not similar enough to Hitman to play both games at the same time.

I found it very hard too, especially trying the non-lethal approach. How am I supposed to clear a small room of three baddies without shooting them?

I'll finish Hitman Absolution first, then probably play something different like TLOU, and then come back to Blacklist later.

Replaying Assassin's Creed. This game has not stood the test of time well, at all. The gameplay is sketchy, and Altaïr's voice actor... OMG, he makes Noah Watts' Connor seem well acted.

With that aside, I can see why this started my love affair with the franchise. The story and the mystique of the world just makes me want to play more.

Started The Last Of Us last night.

Damn, what an uplifting cheerful intro sequence! Got a little bit into the main game (just met Robert). Graphics, characters and acting seems like typical Naughty Dog quality - absolutely top notch! I am still getting used to the combat controls, and the main story hasn't completely sucked me in yet...but I have no doubt that it will. :)

Yeah it will. I didn't think I'd like it as much as I do now but wow.

And I don't think I'm even close to done

BRAVELY DEFAULT. It's the best thing to happen to the JRPG genre. They've taken the GTA5 approach of "make every bit as fun as possible", it's almost a rethink of the genre. Love it.

Lego City: Undercover for Wii U

Have owned this for many months and finally decided to pop it in - WOW what an amazing game - first Lego game since the original Pizza delivery one on PC those many years ago.

Love all of the references like Shawshank and other pop culture things - pretty great.

5 chapters in out of 15 total I believe.

PS4 I'm playing Battlefield 4, Assassin's creed 4, tomb raider, madden

PS3 I'm playing MLB 13 the show and the last of us

Xbox 360 I'm playing blacklist, conviction, hit man, ncaa football

Xbox One I'll be playing Forza

Wii when I do play it, wii sports

I've got a good library of games to choose from. It takes me months to complete a game. I'm not a hard core gamer, but I do enjoy games and the puzzles they present and I like to have a wide variety of games in progress so that I can play whatever I'm in the mood for really. Most nights I don't play, but I like having that huge backlog of games available for when I just want to sit down and blow off some steam.

Finished Uncharted 2 on PS3 just last night. What a wonderful game. Just started 3 and hope it's near as good as 2! Felt like I was playing through a movie the entire game.

I may have to buy a PS4 just for for the 4th installment.

The third one is very good as well! I thougt it didn't flow as well as U2 though. Story didn't grip me as much. But definitely worth playing, and a top notch production!
