RE: Village and Halo Infinite multiplayer. Still not sold on the halo gameplay, the AI and constant announcements in game are annoying.

Recently played through The Elder Scrolls I: Arena and loved every second of it, never understood the criticism. The dungeons were so dank and atmospheric, and had great level design; all were uniquely hand-crafted with their own characteristics. There was something very special about the feeling it gave off. I'm now starting Daggerfall and the randomized dungeons don't impress me nearly as much, but the much more evolved gameplay systems look like they're going to make up for it.

I have one more mission to do in Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts 2, still have to finish Shadow of the Tomb Raider. I downloaded Bright Memory Infinite but I am not sure I can get into it.

Also on my list, finish FarCry 6 and continue playing Forza Horizon 5.

  • Happy Thanksgiving! ?
  • Kingdom Come Deliverance- This is an unexpected surprise. Purchased on sale at Steam, an open world 15th century RPG that takes place in Bohemia. Your are a peasant, the son of a blacksmith, thrust into conflict. My history with games like this is it’s not unusual to have to go through an acclimation period to get comfortable with your surroundings, but this felt good from the start. Still early in the game though.

  • Metro 2033 Redux- Got fatigued with life in the dark of the Moscow Metro System fighting monsters.
  • The Complex- A very short game/interactive movie. It was good enough but I think most of this determination was based on the novelty of the product. If it had been a regular movie, I would have liked the premise, but disappointed in story details as I questioned why some of the things happened the way they did. Seemed a bit shallow. It’s low budget, no surprise there. Near the end, I made a choice and ended up dead. Fortunately there is a replay option if you hit escape.
  • World of Warships- Yep, still playing this casually. I think I have been in a battle or two with a submarine, but never saw it. Playing in Random Battles mode, your success is mostly determined by the skill of the individuals (strangers) on your team, so the outcome feels mostly out of your hands. Things can be going well in your corner of the map and then you look and see 1/3-1/2 your team is sunk and the battle is essentially over. At that point it becomes stay out of range of the enemy team because they will be coming for YOU. ;)

Just bought Men of War: Vietnam (special addition) as I like these real time strategy warfare games with smaller numbers of units.

I really enjoy playing World in Conflict (complete edition) similar Men of War has a few very decent mods. Need to think before you act in game as there's consequence's to your actions. Both being predominantly single player, although you can play with others via LAN, the latter has a online component thx to the community.

With these two games you get to play both sides of the coin, making it more interesting, You have to deal with differing strategies, strengths & weaknesses, adding a lot to the replay value.

Also DL'd Stalker Anomaly which is a free full mod game from the Stalker series (no originals required). Looks very well done with deep & engrossing gameplay. Combines all best aspects of the original three games with an updated game engine. Stalker is a hell of a shooter & survival game with RPG aspects if you can get into it.

Stalker Anomaly presents a full new game in the same game world & lore without the hassle of numerous mods, but with all the benefits :)

Fired up Heart of the Storm last night. It seems to run horrendously in the new macOS update. Barely could play it on medium settings on a 2019 16" MBP that previously ran it on high settings... I guess I need to play it on Windows 10 from now on

I have Battlefield 2042 on my "would like to try" list. I played BF1942 about 20 years ago when it was in beta and enjoyed it a lot, never seen so much teamwork in a game before. Teamwork on public servers went to hell after release (too many selfish kids playing I guess). Would like to see something similar in 2042, so I'll probably pick that up next week and give it a shot.

BF 2042 is on sale at Amazon for $39.99 (normally $59.99).

Or, if you need an NVMe SSD you can get the WD 512GB plus BF 2042 bundle for $89.99.

Likely wont play next, just wanted to get installed and running as I want it. FYI there are also official HD texture, audio & voice packs available, you'll need to search on both GOG and Steam to find as they are somewhat buried.

Depth of KCD is apparent from the onset with just a quick look. Lot of good work done by Warhorse to get thing's right, albeit after multiple patches. Runs great, capped the FPS at 72 max settings, the HD texture's do add a little to the visuals which are already decent. The historical accuracy is also of interest and spun off watching several documentaries from the local & period.

After finishing Cyberpunk 2077 still have an itch for a crime game, so dusted off Mafia 3

Good game, better if you can get on a discount, I picked up Mafia 3 with all DLC's (recommended) on GOG last year for $8 top value. Main can get repetitive, depending on your liking (as can many open world games). The DLC's bring new aspects to the game. Runs great now, I locked the FPS off at 60, can easily push way past that nor seen any glitches.

Mafia 3 might just be the next to play once The Talos Principle is done :)

Whatever happened with you and Kingdom Come Deliverance? I'm really enjoying the atmosphere in this game, but the fighting absolutely sucks. I keep getting killed, and will probably put this game away. I've watched tutorials, did the practice fighting, I hate the little circle thingy you are supposed to keep an eye on and change where you are aiming, this aspect it's just a little too involved and more work than I want to put into a game.

Yes, I admit I am spoiled with other games where you just swing your sword and block. ?

Never got fully into KCD. I do like it and will play in the future :) I just need to be in the mindset to play as KCD is very period accurate. Combat you need to practise and practise over again to master as it's deliberately difficult. Find a master and train with him, it takes time...

Right now gearing up to either play Men of War: Vietnam and or S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly the latter's new game engine is truly impressive, you can really tune the game to your individual liking on so many levels. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly was developed for gamers by gamers on the PC and it shows :)
Once you get past S.T.A.L.K.E.R.'s learning cure you'll likely see why so many hold the games in such high regard. Very few if any can match the atmosphere the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series presents. The games literally draw you into their deep game world & lore.

Although S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly is completely free, like all the series there's little to no hand holding. So it might be better to have a crack at one of the official releases first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat could be a good start, although the third in the series it runs well without mods on newer HW. If not there's tutorial on YT. First game has the best story, second the weakest overall, Anomaly looks very promising as the game combines all...

Real RTCW is done and dusted and much enjoyed :) I was going to play Wolfenstein - The New Order next, followed by The Old Blood, however S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly impressed me just setting up the game think I need to have crack at that first. Just setting up the graphics & gameplay I was immediately immersed, with the game pulling me back to the "Zone" LOL.

Kingdom Come Deliverance makes you feel like you are physically handicapped trying to swing a sword. When I went though the initial training sequence there is a little circle icon, with a red and green indicator and the entire training sequence the guy was yelling at me. :p I’ll say this, fighting is not intuitive, and me trying to fight 2 people is almost certainly a death sentence. I don’t think I have the patience to spend a lot of time practicing, and will probably set the game aside because of this. Other than that, I really do like the atmosphere. My suggestion to the game developer is to have an easy, normal, and hard combat. I need to double check and see what difficulty I am on (I’m thinking normal) and see if it can be changed to easy.

Apparantly the answer is no…

That's KCD, you've got to work at it to progress. Once you pass the learning curve hump the world will open up. KCD is a big game requiring the player to commit. Casual it's not and why I've held off until I want to be immersed in KCD's world and really have a go :)

I might go back and find a trainer and give that another shot and see if combat clicks for me, otherwise it is adios. ?

You need to, it's just how KCD rolls. It's a really good game one well worth investing time in, however the game has demands of the player with combat being one of them. I get where the dev's are coming from as they want to present a realistic experience in the digital realm, and they do seriously so.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is the same on harder difficulties brutally so, yet some of the most rewarding games you can play as the stakes are so very high. IRL few if any walk away from a 7.62 to the chest, KCD & S.T.A.L.K.E.R. represent that in their own ways. I didn't follow through with KCD, but recognised the importance of mastering the sword to progress in the game. KCD is one that I will come back to when I'm ready :)

Right now I'm planning on heading deep into the Zone.

Dec 2021-
  • Disco Elysium- RPR, great dialog but seems to plod along. Solve a murder mystery as a detective in an alternate reality, cyberpunk? Actually not sure about the latter.

  • Kingdom Come Deliverance- Mediaeval RPG, combat will kick your ass. Still hanging in there with it, outstanding environment and dialog.

  • World of Warships- Still hanging in there.
  • The Troop Demo- (Steam, early access) WWII turn based, look down view, third person, troops includes tanks, not sold on this.

Still with S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Anomaly: Did some side missions for the coin, better still completed one of the more challenging side quests (so far) I picked up from the Scientists in Yantar. Disable the Miracle Machine One of the most immersive gaming experiences I've had. Tremendously intense, absolutely palpable what a rush. Likely could have completed the mission way more efficiently, never mind I enjoyed every second and that's all that really counts :)

The atmosphere is so deep your naturally drawn into the game world. Soundscape has be experienced, really got under my skin...

Started a Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous yesterday. Runs like a charm on my M1 Max, 4K, everything maxed out Finally some decent gaming experience in the Mac. Few odd bugs here and there but that’s the game itself, not Mac related.
