Yeah, when I get an Apple Silicon Mac, for sure.
Until then, I must rely on cloud gaming and GeForce Now has a 50% discount (for 1 or 6 months) if you get it before August 18th.

This combination presents a tremendous gaming experience for fans of the game... Yeah, last couple of images, are the models from the original 2001 Macworld reveal of Doom3. Brought to life & rerolled as Hell Knight's. They work tremendously in game being a force to be reckoned especially in numbers or when cornered.

Always been into horror & Sci-Fi films & games, that's never going away and I'm just ten years behind you :) Doom 3 on the dhewm3 game engine & Hell Barron's stunning graphics package betters many modern titles  You should just jump in and go with the flow 👍 When I play Doom 3 set up like this, I'm there... I even have it running natively on the M1 MacBook Pro as once your in, your in...

Dead Space, now we're talking :) Starfield waste of pennies, a worse version of Fallout 4 in space. Far better off playing No Mans Sky and creating your own adventure.

Come on, he just want's to be friends.

but he might tear you a new on in the process...LOL.

Alien Isolation, textures modded to 1440p, extended graphics options and far more interesting & dangerous AI. One if not the best horror/Sci-Fi games you can ever play. Set up like this, the Alien is like the 1979 film and you best be aware of that. You'll never know when or where, but when you do...

The Alien is not so closely tethered to the player and is more likely to explore and hunt. I got a Dallas  Those that have watched the film will get this. Nearly fell out the chair, now that's horror at it's finest  Medical is somewhat scripted and I've never played a game with such tension, possibly even beats out Outlast and that's a shocker...

The Alien Isolation Shooter mod, I went to read about it, did not see the anwer and do you know if it's compatible with just the base game or the DLCs too? I own 2 copies of the base game, one on Steam and one at Epic, but I'm tempted buy it on GOG DRM free, cheap at $8-10, the latter for the collection..🤔

TBH I dont know precisely. As the DLC's for Alien Isolation are addons I would expect the mod to work. From my experience the game is very accommodating of mods given my game is heavily modded; advertising intro's removed, new game intro (Alien 3), 2K textures, 2K cut scenes, expanded graphic settings, improved AI & game engine tweaks.

I dont see much value in repurchasing as the only difference with the GOG version will be the lack of DRM. My version is from Epic and I've played it to conclusion multiple times with mods without any issue. I just switched off the auto update feature for obvious reason.

I did similarly consider repurchasing on GOG, but as time has proved there is no gain other than not needing a launcher. Truth be known you can even play Epic's Alien Isolation without the launcher, but you need to put a workaround in place in order to save.

I'm uncertain if I will go with the Alien Shooter mod as I want the horror experience that Alien Isolation presents, if anything I want more hence the improved AI.

I'm currently playing Valheim. Are there any fans? Or perhaps fans of other sandbox games.

btw, it is available on MAC after the last update 3 month ago

Sad to say, Valheim maybe in my library queue.😳 I’ll ask, is this a solo or multiplayer game similar to Conan Exhiles. Or ARK Survival Evolved with small servers? Survival, base building, exploration?

What maybe humorous is that I’ll get bad dreams no matter how I play it, but I’ll feel better if I’m kicking it’s ass, although with dreams there are no guarantees. 🤔😉

The Dark Mod - Originally a mod for Doom 3, now a fully fledged standalone game. Those who are into the Thief franchise & stealth need to check this one out.
Game is completely free, available on it's own site or ModDB. Countless hours of gameplay due to the community driven creation of maps & missions. The Dark Mod has recently celebrated it's 15th year so is mature and well developed. Those into stealth it's a must...:)

To be honest, I haven't played ARK Survival or Conan Exhiles, but it's definitely a game about survival and exploration.

There are 7 bioms right now, and the developers are working on the 8 now. The world is huge, and one of the exploration parts that I really like is sailing on Drakkars.

As for the building, the game offers you an immersive experience in building because of the advanced physics mechanic, and different types of materials. You can check some screenshots of castles and settlements in Valheims.

However, if you don't really like building, you can create several basic boxes and any crafting needs, and that will be enough.

Thanks. Curious if you know, can you run a solo game on your computer, invite players to your private game (server), find a public server which holds about 20 players, or can you rent a server? Put this question in the Valheim thread.

August 2024:
  • Fallout 4- Playing this via GOG, it does save to the cloud. 5th playthough, it’s still wonderful.
  • Alien Isolation- Not gonna play this, then the Alien Shooter Mod appears, now I am… playing. Messing with mods, too early to report.
  • Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor- Set aside, gameplay issues.
  • Hogwarts Legacy- Set aside, well made, Hogwarts is amazing, magic combat is good, but I felt out of place, not like a real student, and was missing companionship. There is a real challenge here , because it’s a balance between playing a game and attending school. You make token visits to the class room, and I acknowledge no one really wants to attend real classes, but the routine, you are out and about doing all sorts of stuff, not really going to school, if you see what I’m saying. 🤔
  • World of Warships- Still playing, still cursing, battles with 3 tiers is usually awful if you’re bottom tier.

On Epic

Wanted to play for a good while, but the disastrous launch and very mixed reviews put me off. Recently watched a YT that deep dived into the controversy. Surprise surprise yet again the publisher forced the game out far too early to the cost of the studio, Glen Schofield and most of all the customers...

There should be a business model where studios are not beholding to publishers & investment companies as they are totally self serving. What's laughable is had the publisher held their word and given the time the game would likely have generated far more revenue

If Callisto Protocol plays well, I'll happily pay and pick up the DLC.

The Callisto Protocol...

Just starting; Graphics are as promised. While still early in game performance so far has been solid. FPS can float so locked to it 60. You can feel Glen Schofield's DNA in the mix. That said, Callisto is a very different style of game compared to Dead Space therefore direct comparisons dont make sense...

Intro is impactful. To me feels like a game that spans two worlds develops slowly, yet the player is thrown into the mix immediately. Settings allow you to fine tune the game to your preferred play style. From a breeze to a literal a living hell.

Callisto certainly had it's issues on release, so far looks like the dev's have resolved them. Acid test is the gameplay goes as I progress. Gameplay being the most important factor as that's what hook's you in.

I don't envisage Callisto being deeply unnerving or frightening with no phycological horror aspects other than being brutal & gory. That said playing with KB & mouse the hits are visceral. Would have to think of another melee focused game I have that comes close.

Don't expect much in the way of a storyline due the nature of things; You crash, your imprisoned for reasons unknown, all hell breaks out and you have to escape. I expect a minority may help, the majority will be against you and anything similar to the Necromorphs in Dead Space will outright look to kill you.

From what I've read (spoiler free) The Callisto Protocol could have been far more than it is. A new longstanding IP. Sadly publisher impatience & interference did what it does...:(

As ever I like to go in blind and let things develop as I play into the game. So far a strong start, rest time will tell.

Yes, I’m curious too. What is Whiskey? Usually when I’m trying to run a Windows game on Mac, the usual choice is between a Wine derivative (Crossover for me) or an ARM virtual machine (Parallels or Fusion in my case.)

It is an alternative to Crossover that also includes GPTK support (WINE doesn't support it out of the box as far as I know). So DX12 games (that don't have anti-cheat) will run.

Oh my god, like free free? I hope it is compatible with GeForce Now… I’d be super happy because I want a game to get lost into for the next week.

EDIT: Nah, it isn’t on GFN :(

@Populus 100% free and it plays like a champ :) Pity it's not on GFN :( but if you've claimed the game it's yours and you can wait it out until you have a system that can :)

The Callisto Protocol got a bad wrap, somewhat unfairly compared to Dead Space which is not only a classic, but also one of the best games in it's genre.

Only possibly topped by Alien Isolation, naturally with mods as you want the fear dialled up to eleven...

So sadly The Callisto Protocol never has much of a chance in such lofty company. I'm into this game, I know as I'm deliberately holding off play and that's a very strong signal that I'll 100% the game. Like a fine wine needs a little time to age to fully mature. Same as Alien Isolation, Dead Space, Doom 3, Prey & Total Chaos I'm going to discover, find everything and relish every moment...

Where did you download this from? Sorry if you already said. 😳

Currently playing Cyberpunk 2077 via Crossover. Still overwhelmed that it actually works.
