It’s not PowerPC, but it does run the Mach kernel. Booting an AlphaStation 250 4/266 running DEC OSF/1 from 1995.
Does/did that also have CDE as default GUI like pretty much any other big Unix of the day?DEC OSF/1

…used my external Firewire 400 iSight connected via a FW400/800 adapter to engage in a Zoom meeting (Parent/Teacher Conference) on my MP. I acquired this iSight some time in 2012 I think and this was the first real test of it's functionality via the adapter and Zoom (I've used it on my 17" PowerBook for Skype, back when Skype still supported PowerPC).
Once I realized my mic was still set to 'Line-In' instead of 'iSight' everything went great. Worked perfectly.
Bringing it up, because the external iSight was a thing during the PowerPC era. I think it is totally cool that this iSight (and my second one) still continue to be useful. And the mics on them are outstanding!

The first time I got one, it was from a reseller on eBay who was selling retired items he had received from a university. At the time, Skype was still PowerPC compatible and I got it for $50 to replace the terrible USB cam I had. Unfortunately, I never got to use it as my reason for using Skype disappeared shortly after the purchase.Very cool. The iSight camera is a stunning, elegant piece of design work. I'd pick one up, but have no need for one.
Although technology is constantly evolving and improving, it doesn't mean that old tech should be ruled out. The majority of device functions are '2020-compatible' (especially tech accessories), occasionally requiring some low-level technical knowledge to make the transition to modern-day. With PowerPC Apple devices, the extra effort is worth it, due to the uniqueness of how they approach(ed) UX/design.The first time I got one, it was from a reseller on eBay who was selling retired items he had received from a university. I inherited a second one later on and that's attached to my Mac Mini with the same type of FW adapter. I dearly would love to use both cams more because they are really good, but I just do not get to use them much.
I was really happy it performed flawlessly with Zoom - once I got the preferences straightened out, LOL!
I have a very good condition 12” PowerBook with SSD upgrade.
You design greeting cards?Updated my site and wrote some greeting cards on my iBook today. I find myself using OS 9 more than OS X.
I use Print Shop Deluxe. Still had some thank you cards to write from graduation gifts, so I decided to do that before I got started on school work this morning. You design greeting cards?

Thanks! That's cool, I do think it'd be fun to try that sometime. I've gotten hand-made cards before and have always been fascinated by how intricate everything is.Very cool. In retirement, mom likes to make greeting cards - has all the little punch out tools & stuff so my family gets custom made by mom/grandma cards for all occasions.
Naturally, I appreciate a quality hand made card.
Yep! I'm of the Class of 2020.@RogerWilco6502 You mentioned graduation; would you be included in the famed Class of 2020, perchance?
