For audio playback I'd probably stick with OSX though.
Yes, many people say that, but Vox and Cog are betas (sometimes it crashes, stops, and etc.). Only v1.0 Fidelia (hard to find!) supports PPC. And Pure Music but not my way.

VLC is a pretty good flac player. There is XLD for Flac but it's more of a converter than a player.
VLC is a pretty good flac player.
Yes it is, but a video player. Like MPlayer, which also a pretty good FLAC player. And VLC play these files with 12-13% CPU usage, MPlayer 8-9%.... VOX 3-4%. And FStream also much better to listening and record hi-res radios than VLC. And finally, the Cog player sends the music directly to the DAC, just a simple player without unnecessary extras. I'm trying to find Fidelia v1.0 to compare with Vox. Apple Lossless + iTunes is the good way, I know, but the conversion is a long procedure. Anyway, I like the VOX player, it‘s ok.
Does anyone know who these beauties are?not my screenshot)

I thought "K-POP" is the sound a speaker makes when it blows upThat's right - the song is Oopsie - I'm such a KPop amateur![]()

Coming back to Psions, I actually want a netBook/Series 7 even more than a 5 - good luck finding an affordable one though...
I'm an expert in missing that timeWas a time when they were inexpensive - just like the Psion MC400 which is the one I'd go for![]()
Yes, Mplayer will always be more efficient, but I really prefer the playlist and media library in VLC. And for music a good playlist implementation is key for me. VLC, while less efficient, is a literal Swiss army knife of capability.Yes it is, but a video player. If it runs CE it ain't a PsionI'm now fighting the urge to buy a Psion Netbook Pro (WinCE 4.2), complete with wifi card
Seen that, thanks, but first I will get to grips (again@Hughmac - Woah. Congrats! There's also an unfinished Psion-developed Linux distro for the beast. That one has a very "interesting" user interface iirc.

I've never actually used Vox. Maybe I will now.

Here is the VOX with “resample” setting. Very good CPU usage! Without resample, 3-4%. The best PPC FLAC player. And there is a very good AAC & Apple Lossless export possibility to iTunes library (if someone prefers that). To show album atworks works well but the playlist is small of course. This is irrelevant to me. The music is in alphabetical order on usb disk and I don't care about thumbnails.

Here is the FStream. 320 kbps radio with 192 kbps AAC recording. Very good CPU usage.

VLC starts reading my USB directory and the poor quality radio stations. The 2.0.10 (32bit) VLC crashes many times. There is no problem with the G5 processor, but it is better to use another player on the G4.
Pretty soon there’s gonna be an up to date modern video player for PPC Macs![]()
