Looks like I just got Haskell onto PowerPC: ghc 7.6.3 should be enough to build modern versions (provided it is fully functional, I have only tested helloworld.hs now).

UPD. Well, nothing turn out to be easy LOL, I cannot build 7.8.4 using 7.6.2 or 7.6.3. Working on that at the moment.

If we happen to have Haskell gurus here, I will really appreciate your help.

Wow, such a nice score! Those 1gb TTP flashdrives were like $230+ USD when new. I've been searching far and wide for one of those but you'd have better luck finding a raindbow unicorn :D

Thanks for keeping it out of landfill. I suspect alot of those went into the ground as FW faded and the transition to Intel occurred. Super cool find & piece of mac kit :apple:
Wow, seriously? I didn't expect them to be cheap new, but that's at least double what I expected. No wonder they're hard to find nowadays... anyway, I've been putting it to good use thoroughly testing the RAM and HDDs on my PowerPC macs, nice to be able to easily have that peace of mind without burning a mountain of different Apple Service Diagnostic CDs.

Nice white one (StormTrooper) there. Seem to recall one similar, listed a few years back on eBay (from Colorado?). Think it was also heavy-modded internally. AND sale might have also benefitted a charity?

I can’t seem to leave cases alone here. Have also done similar with a Mac mini and an eMac (so far).

Latest suggestion was a carbon fiber, vinyl covering. We’ll see.;)

What have I done today? I realized that one of my QS's has a headphone plug broken off in its jack and am still tryng to extract that stinkin' thing. I installed 9.2.2 on there and stuck an airport card in and while it sees my 2.4g network, for the life of me can't get the dang card to connect to it (made me a little crazy) but works fine in OSX lol. I installed a Sonnet Tango in that same box and it works fine but for whatever reason interferes with its power management and wont let it go to seep. I then put a Siig usb card in there (both stated to work fine in os9) and it freezes the box outright when booting into the GUI.

So, as of right now I have a box that has no sound, wigs out with mac compatible USB cards and who's airport is nutballs.

Fun day :D

Put a little tiny dab of glue on the end of the plug, press a pencil up to it, wait about a minute for it to set, and then pull it out directly back, no twisting.
When I was in primary school our iPad chargers were always the cheapo amazon basics kind that broke off inside the iPad and this trick worked like a dream, might want to use something small and thin other than a pencil though bc the graphite can break off

Yep, That is where I left it last night. I used a straw from a can of electronics air duster & widened it a bit with a tiny pc repair kit screwdriver so it took on a bell shape, put a tiny drop of superglue on there and pushed it down into the hole until it made (what I think is anyhow) contact with the broken bit. It's way down in there, so can't be sure. Anyhow, left it over night to cure and will at some point today after work attempt to pull it out.

If this does not work,I do have a QS lobo with bad ram slots, so will probably cut my losses and remove the bad component and solder the replacement on to the good lobo. We'll see!

I can't wait to get home, I have everything I need to become a real data hoarder. 2 new 2TB 7200RPM 64MB cache 3.5 inch HDDs with powered sata to usb adapters, a cheapo "rack" to hold them, and a Mac mini G4 with an ethernet to WiFi adapter. Using one HDD as the backup, and the other as the backup for the backup. If your backups don't have backups do you actually backup your data?

For all of this it was less then $90.

Figured out more things about how to use the Environment in Logic 8. Very powerful tool for making music.

So this did not work. It glued to whatever is inside but then I couldnt pull it back out. The straw broke actually if you can believe that. SO, since time is really in short supply right now, I took the easy route and took the os9 drive with the retro games I was wanting to play and plopped it underneath the SSD in my other Dual 1ghz QS. I figure after work today I'll boot into os9 and see if the games will play nice with the Radeon9000 that is in this box. Since os9 is now onboard, I went ahead and stuck a acard 6280M sata controller back in to see if I can get consistent results - never could get consistent connectivity in OSX.

When time permits, I'll yoink the USB and jack from my dead QS lobo and replace them on the other QS. Just darn busy these days.

Even more fun. So the radeon9000 freezes upon gui. The Belkin usb2 card allows me to boot until I stick something on it, then freezes. The acard sata controller shows up as a scsi card which is expected & the dynex Wi-Fi is unrecognized - kinda expected that as well. So plan3 is to move & build the os9 retro gaming build around a graphite powermac until I can get the other QS repaired and up n running. I’m not going to tear this one apart just to make it os9 friendly. This has reminded me yet again of why I prefer OSX.

such a shame shes acting strange. I prefer osx too simply because less jank, sad classic isnt robust enough to stay in os x forever

Well, I built up this box for Leopard so it was a stretch to think OS9 would play nice with its component choices. I think I’ll partition the graphite with 3 partitions - os9/cheetah/tiger. Since my Go to is typically leopard, I’ll intentionally not put that on this graphite. I’ll stick with os9 era hardware upgrades to try & minimize the Jank & stay compatible/functional across os’s. Means I’ll be playing most games in 16bit 800x600 like it’s 1999 again but will be a nice trip down memory lane since a much younger me was in fact slaying the pubs with 16bit color at 800x600 in 1999.
