I understand perfectly; Apple is the number one smartphone maker in the world. IOS is the number 2 mobile operating system in the world. Understand

Nope you don't understand. Samsung is the number one smartphone maker. The iPhone is the most sold model.

Google would never do that, they make too much ad revenue from iOS devices. Their primary MO is to ensure people keep using Google services, and they know Apple and iOS devices won't be going away anytime soon, which is why they offer all their services on iOS. Apple could easily switch over to using Bing and MS services, which would hurt Google's bottom line.

Most likely, the bulk of Google's revenue from iOS comes from Safari browser.

Tbh i think Apple would ditch all Google services if it could they already tried and failed with Apple maps.

Google Maps doesn't come preinstalled on any Apple device anymore since iOS 6. I'd say thats a ditch. They may not have had a compelling replacement initially but no license fees being paid any longer.

As it stands Apple need Google more than Goggle needs Apple, if they where to pull all their services from Apple then you would see a few people switch as Apple would never share it's software no matter how much pressure they would be under.

If you really believe that then i have a bridge i'd like to sell you...

Google makes more money from iOS than it does Android.

What would happen is Google would probably lose billions and the board and shareholders would demand a change in leadership.

It's a bit apples-oranges. Google is an internet company. Apple is a hardware company. Google makes it's money through ad revenue; and leveraging and selling the user data they collect (emails, web and physical tracking) so there's only upside in letting everyone use it's services. It's a matter of personal preference I guess. Be locked into a specific type of hardware or be a human barcode.

I know Google is more of an information, ad revenue, and internet based company. But just for kicks, what if Google kept it's apps and services exclusive like Apple does?

Damn near everything Apple is exclusive for only Apple products. Facetime and iMessage is for Apple products only. No Safari browser or Apple Maps for any other mobile OS. No official Apple music/video app that syncs with iTunes.

Even Amazon excludes Prime video from Chrome Cast but allows it on other non Google streamers. And with the new Fire TV Stick, it's obvious why. Prime Video wasn't released on Android until Amazon realized the Fire Phone is a dud.

BlackBerry Messenger was exclusive until it basically became non relevant.

So what if Google decided to make all the apps and services below exclusive to Android? Do you think it would bring in more Android users? Or would it be worst off for Google?

Worse off for Google, since Google-Android customers hate paying for apps, essentially cheapskates. Apple's iPhone customers is where all the moneybags and wealth is when it comes to buying services and apps.

Google would essentially cut itself from some of the best paying customers on Planet Earth.

Only thing I can thing of quickly is Google Play music and video. Plenty of Android users pay for that service. I doubt Google Voice is a big revenue factor for Google on iOS.

Just my guess, but Google probably makes most of it's revenue on iOS from the browser and from Youtube.

What apps or other services that cost with Google?

I actually have been WAITING on that for years now....

Apple gets the best of everybody but I would love if karma could bite them at the end. Nomore YouTube, GMail, Google Maps, Google Voice, Google Now, Google Music, Chrome, Hangouts, Google+, Picasa, etc. Deactivate any Google Search voice ability on ALL iOS devices which is more accurate than Siri. Cripple all of them.

It was hard enough for Apple to come up with their own maps, so imagine how many consumers will Apple lose when none of the best Google apps/services works great on iOS. Truth is, Apple is better at hardware. Software between them is getting closer with Android improving so much. But services is where Google is so FAR AHEAD of Apple. Google is king of internet.

It drives me crazy that Google actually does favors for Apple while Google and Microsoft don't get along.

An interesting view point there. Do you not think competition is healthy though in the mobile market? If Google pulled the plug with Apple on their services don't you think that could perhaps drive the market and its consumers down one route forming a monopoly and stifling the competitive race consumers have been enjoying for a number of years now?

I am not sure I understand why you would want that personally. Lets not forget Apple pay revenue to Google for allowing certain services on their devices and iOS has helped Google establish many of these offerings in the wider sense. Apple provide an outlet for these services and as far as I can tell these two companies can work together in harmony because they have very different business models. Google are a software and internet service based company. They provide a free platform that they give to many manufacturers (Android), who in turn provide data from their users. This is no different to Google providing applications to Apple. They win regardless.

Google are not going to suddenly restrict a couple of hundred million iOS users just because a few tech enthusiasts wish to see 'karma', something I don't understand in this context? It would be a massive gamble and would likely hurt every company involved financially. Its absolute nonsense and I do not get why any consumer would want to see the market blown apart and stagnated just because they have a personal dislike for a company they don't buy products from. I think we'll keep things as they are and enjoy the choices that are on offer, thanks. :)

For someone who travels to Asia frequently like me, google is not as essential.

I only use gmail because I have used it for a long time.

Just my personal experience, your mileage may vary...

Voice - I have a Google Voice # but is rarely used and isn't needed
Play - don't use
Maps - don't use
Earth - don't use
Now - don't use
Chrome - use sometimes, prefer Safari
Youtube - rarely use at all and wouldn't miss it
Plus - don't use
Hangouts - don't use
Chromecast - don't use
Drive - have Drive but use Dropbox
Docs - don't use
Blogger - don't use
Translate - don't use
Zagat - don't use
Syncing Contacts, Calendar, photos - don't use

What I do use is Gmail
But even that isn't exclusive as my primary email is a .mac account

If Google went away, I wouldn't miss a beat really
If Apple went away, I would have to totally change my work flow, hardware and software

LOL, im not sure why you replied to this thread. You dont like anything else but Apple and bash Android all the time so this response is nothing unexpected from you.

I dont care for iOS but if Apple went away i think it would be a real bummer and hurt compitition....not to mention id hate to see an American company go away even if i dont have a iPhone or a iPad.

I dont agree or disagree. Its just years of his negative opinions on anything NOT Apple that makes it funny that he replied to this thread and ......wow, what do you know....he had nothing possitive to say, again. Wouldnt even care if they folded the tent.
