Steve was right...

Our lawsuit is saying, "Google, you *bleeping* ripped off the iPhone, wholesale ripped us off." Grand theft. I will spend my last dying breath if I need to, and I will spend every penny of Apple's $40 billion in the bank, to right this wrong. I'm going to destroy Android, because it's a stolen product. I'm willing to go to thermonuclear war on this. They are scared to death, because they know they are guilty. Outside of Search, Google's products--Android, Google Docs--are s***.
- Steve Jobs

I meant the other, Steve...

This is amusing. I'll give it up for being unique. I've never heard/read someone referring to Apple deserving some evil karma payback because you love..Google??
Do yourself and search google and NSA or Prism. they're in bed with the Feds and turning a blind eye to basic rights to privacy. This is fact. Additionally the search results up front are a joke- the 'search' giant is essentially a link to the major e-tailers. You ever searched for a retail item and not had amazon pop up in top 2 results? Do yourself a favor and search 'payday loans' on Google and then a browser that doesn't pimp out all your information, scan your emails etc. Let me know how that turns out. Also kinda weird because the Google services you mentioned could be argued kinda suck and can't be argued not particularly important or good. Lol great analogy about the map app. Google rules! They have a cool map. Be honest, you don't know how to use a Mac, right?

----------

tbh i think apple would ditch all google services if it could they already tried and failed with apple maps.

As it stands apple need google more than goggle needs apple, if they where to pull all their services from apple then you would see a few people switch as apple would never share it's software no matter how much pressure they would be under.

They would just try and come up with their own services & more than likely ultimately fail.

lol

Hey you know android is an OS and iOS/apple is hardware, right? You should throw up some charts comparing windows to dell computer sales. Lol this guy is awesome. Who goes on a Mac forum to pledge his love of friggin Google? Why not just say- 'I don't understand os x'. Ha, goofy

----------

Is that just for the iPhone, cause I don't see any on my iPad.

iOS is an OS, not hardware.

I know Google is more of an information, ad revenue, and internet based company. But just for kicks, what if Google kept it's apps and services exclusive like Apple does?

Damn near everything Apple is exclusive for only Apple products. Facetime and iMessage is for Apple products only. No Safari browser or Apple Maps for any other mobile OS. No official Apple music/video app that syncs with iTunes.

Even Amazon excludes Prime video from Chrome Cast but allows it on other non Google streamers. And with the new Fire TV Stick, it's obvious why. Prime Video wasn't released on Android until Amazon realized the Fire Phone is a dud.

BlackBerry Messenger was exclusive until it basically became non relevant.

So what if Google decided to make all the apps and services below exclusive to Android? Do you think it would bring in more Android users? Or would it be worst off for Google?

Voice
Play
Maps
Earth
Now
Chrome
Youtube
Plus
Hangouts
Chromecast
Drive
Docs
Blogger
Translate
Zagat
Syncing Contacts, Calendar, photos
and etc:

What if Google said "Make some of your apps and services cross platform, or we'll make ours exclusive." You think Apple would cave in to such a demand?

essentially will never happen, Google does not ever want to do this, they need every single person and customer they can get for ad targeting, Google pays Apple alone $1 billion a year just to be the default search engine in iOS on Safari, why would Google ever throw away hundreds of millions of customers from iOS land by stripping their apps and ecosystem exclusive to Android only?

You are missing the whole point of my thread. It's not about if they would or not. It's about what effect it would have on Google and Apple.

'Merica!
iOS users that don't use Google's apps wouldn't care. The few that do use Google apps on iOS might care a little, but would quickly replace the Google apps they use with something that Apple or other 3rd party developers offer. Current Android users would lose nothing.

How about this...

Google's app (developed by Google) portfolio seems to dwarf Apple's (developed BY Apple)...what would Apple have to offer to Android if they changed their mind and made iOS apps available in the Play Store? Safari or FaceTime for android sounds nice, but there are already multiple browsers and multiple apps that can do video chat...

Define what "in bed" means. By "in bed" do you actually mean "had their fibre interconnects illegally tapped into and data decrypted" or "were legally compelled to by a secret warrant from a secret FISA court"?

Then explain and provide sources for the rest of your statement.

So why is it then that Android has 3 times as much marketshare as iOS devices but accounts for the same percentage of global mobile internet traffic? I think my assumption carries a little more weight when compared to this rather significant statistic.

Firstly, assuming the web usage stats are not skewed (I believe they are), it is obviously because of the high penetration Android has in parts of the world other than Western Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand, the Four Asian Tigers and Japan. In these parts of the world (Eg India), reliable and fast internet (broadband or mobile) is either relatively very expensive or not available at all.

And exactly what is a fact? I bet you you won't link a proof about those "facts"

----------

In fact Google gets its mapping data from navteq, just like everybody else.

In fact, wrong, Google is using its own data in almost every Western country

Ahh well hypothetical then...Apple would collapse, and Google would take a severe hit to their business as well I would assume

Google would not do this and should not do this. They want people using their services regardless of the platform. I use all Google apps on my iPhone 6+. Makes it easier to switch to my nexus 6 when I want to switch phones. I use google hangouts to make all my calls because I have unlimited data. I never give out my actual att cell number so if I switch providers I don't have to worry about porting my number or giving out a new number. As a matter of fact I think Google should add two more apps to the mix. Google calendar which is actually coming soon. They should also add a google contacts app that gives you access to Google groups. The contacts app should also open all links and handlers in Google apps (ie telephone numbers should open in hangouts, addresses should open in Google maps, text messages should open in Google voice or Google hangouts, urls should open in chrome, video calls in hangouts, emails in gmail or inbox, birthdays and dates in Google calendar, and share contacts as vcf files via Google voice or Google hangouts).

This would make switching between the iPhone and Android seamless. I prefer using my iPhone over Android but I also prefer using google services over Apple exclusives.

Did you read what I wrote? I don't new to provide proof. Search it (maybe try another search engine since they censor results), they knowingly and willingly participated with the NSA/Prism. Lol they illegally had what done to them? You straight made that up. They willingly turned data over. Read the news, do a search etc. That is fact. Is all this anger because you don't know how to use a Mac? Probably time to get a hobby.

Oh look, you were right:
http://news.yahoo.com/google-facebook-cooperated-nsa-prism-145643099.html

The Post and the Guardian allege tech companies that participate in the PRISM program — Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Facebook, PalTalk, AOL, Skype, YouTube, and Apple —offered the government "direct access" to their servers full of user information.

Sorry, you were telling me about how Apple were so much better? Please continue...
