I had a 1st gen 12.9 pro and sold it for a 10.5. I found it to be too big to use in bed and I wanted a device to carry along with my Mac. The 12.9 wouldn’t fit in my bag alongside it. So far i’ve been so happy with my decision and have been using the 10.5 a lot more. Just curious what iPad most of you are using and why it works for you. :)
 
I have a 1st gen 12.9 iPad Pro WiFi, a 2017 iPad cellular and an older iPad mini.

The pro is mostly just for at home use, the 2017 iPad is for traveling and the mini mostly isn’t used much anymore as it is old and slow.
 
I downgraded considerately recently- I sold my 1st Gen iPad Pro and bought a 2018 iPad. But this fall it will go to my daughter (she is still using a 2nd Gen mini), and I'll buy myself one of the newer models. The only downside for the new iPad is the speakers; otherwise, it is still an awesome iPad.
 
1st generation iPad Pro 9.7. Absolutely love it. I also have the Pencil and the ASK to go along with it. I really like this size and am disappointed that they went larger to the 10.5.

Pro 12.9 AT&T (2nd gen): comics, magazines, PDF, Excel
 
iPad Air, its tugging along but its really slow right now, looking forward to upgrading to the upcoming iPad Pro ~11" version.
 
128gb 2018 9.7" LTE iPad with an Apple Pencil, Zagg Rugged Book keyboard case and pre-paid AT&T data plan. Got an Apple ][ Computer in 1978, have used Macs since 1985. First iOS device was an iPod Touch in 2008, first iPhone in 2009. But this is my first iPad (although I've bought two for family members).

Didn't want to spend extra for the iPad Pro, still trying to figure out why I need an iPad at all at this point. :) I really wanted to get an iPad Mini, but just couldn't justify the current price which is only $30 less than the 2018 iPad and has old internals and no Apple Pencil support.

10.5 LTE. I use it mainly for drawing and textbooks which I've scanned in. I rarely use the cellular option but am glad I have it for those times. I have an extra sim from my phone company and can share my data with it and it doesn't cost much extra to have it. It's my first cellular model and it's worth it for me to have it as there are not many places I go to that have free wifi.

I plan to get the next incarnation of the 12.9 and perhaps keep this one too. I will probably get the middle storage option and cellular as the price difference between wifi and cellular seems to be the same as between the storage levels and that would give me the most flexibility for my money. I'm also thinking about paying to upgrade my Dropbox so that storage on the iPad itself won't be as much of an issue.

i also cannot type to save my life and the iPad is worse, 'specially using this website.

the man porpoise for the iPad was to draw, sketch and log cartoons while I'm about because those pens and paper things are not environmentally sound.

safari needs 5th search option.
i have not used foogle since 2017 June on a pc and duck duck go does not show searches, the ipad shows a blank page.
ecosia need to be that option.
i guess i like the ipad but not to replace my macbook air.

So many funny things could be said here. I like the 9.7 which I hear is quite popular. I think the 12.9 would be great for photo retouching or art work. If you could do three apps at once that would be amazing !

That's an interesting point. Do you have any sources that confirm this? It must take a lot of energy, labor and resources to manufacture the iPad and send it around the world to sell. More energy is expended shuttling it between warehouses, stores and ultimately to you. Then there's the cost of the electricity to operate it, the network it connects to, the servers at Apple, dropbox and all the websites you visit.

And of course, since you're "working" on the iPad, you no doubt get distracted and spend time browsing the web, participating in social media and watching videos. I know I do. ;) That probably doesn't happen when you sit down at the drawing board with a pen and paper.

Is all this really less environmental damage than "pens and papers"? I spent a career as a designer and switched from paper to CAD and 3d photorealistic rendering around 1995. So I don't need any convincing about the advantages of using computers, but I never imagined it was better for the environment. :D

Using a 9.7-inch iPad Pro. It does everything I need and it is blazingly fast. I'm on iOS 9, but I can use the apps I want - at least until now - so I'm happy. Battery life is awesome as well.

10.5” Pro, and it’s my favorite Apple device ever. Thinking of upgrading this year but Apple has a lot of work to do to convince me to give up my 10.5.

mini 2 LTE and 10.5" Pro wifi.
The mini 2 is getting less and less usage since performance, although alright, the responsiveness has been bogged down a lot by iOS11. Hopefully iOS12 will help it.
The 10.5" is replacing my Macbook Air 11", and it's been great.
 
iPad Pro 10.5 256 wifi only. Great device to use with a wireless keyboard. I use it for school and personal use and I love it.
Won’t be upgrading to the next gen. At least not right away in case there happens to be any issues with it. I like having Touch ID too.

The only thing I can ask Apple to do is to allow the control Center and app switcher/killer to be all in one place again in iOS 12. I like it on iOS 11 and honestly might hold off upgrading this fall unfortunately. It’s the only thing keeping me from getting the beta!
 
I have an iPad Pro 9.7 and an iPad Mini 4. The Mini gets much more use as I have a computer to be productive on. I probably won’t buy another iPad as Apple are unlikely to release one I’m interested in. I don’t care for the larger iPads, they’ll never be large enough or more importantly, multitasking enough to be productive on.
