With the exception of the Apple III and the Apple Pippin (remember when they tried a gaming console?), no releases ever surpassed November 30. In fact, last year was the first time they ever released anything in the third week of November and that was the iPad mini.

New Mac Pro will be released Third week of October. I'll put money on it. :p

I hope you're right but I think we're waiting on Intel's Falcon Ridge chips at this point and the latest estimate out of IDF was before Christmas.

I'd be really surprised if they dropped the new Mac Pro like the iMac a few weeks ago i.e. quietly.

I think it will be part of a media event with a "one more thing" of new 4K TB displays and the release of the Mac Pro.

To me at least, they dropped so many hints about it's capability to power 4K displays and edit 4K video, and consequently it's been sooooo long since the ACDs were updated, it just seems to make sense that they're going to release one with the MP.

Regarding the exact date when it will drop...who knows - but to quote Tim Cook whenever it is, I'm sure we'll be, "surprised and delighted."

I think given Phil Schillers comment... "Can't innovate, my ass!" at WWDC and the theatre trailers, I agree we may yet see another mention of this at a media event for sheer publicity sake. Apple is under the innovation microscope these days, and love it or hate it, this is pretty damn innovative.

Whether it's on its own or with something else, it's hard to predict. That will most likely depend on its timing. I hope it's accompanied by some new software (eg. Aperture).

I'm not sure about 4K displays. Apple just doesn't give me confidence they can work on more than a couple things at a time, and they've had a lot going on lately. I mean, a USB 3 refresh of the 27" ACD TB display at any time in the last year would have been a no brainer, but they never even bothered with that. Accessories seem way down their priority list. FFS... We still have keyboards with white keys... How hard is it to update that?!

I hope I am not getting too excited about something I won't be able to afford...coz I've been drooling now since June.

PLEASE APPLE...make the entry level model affordable!!! (< $2500)

I'll reiterate that Phil Schiller said at the WWDC that the nMac Pro was for video editors, musicians, photographers and graphic designers. Mentioning musicians instead of music studios and such gives me some hope that there will be an affordable entry level nMac Pro that will be the more the poor man's nMac Pro compared to the higher end nMac Pro offerings.

Musicians usually don't have lots of money and if they're like me they prefer to spend what money they do have on instrument or voice libraries and not hardware.

Keep the faith!:D

I would imagine it's not coming out before Mavericks.

If the Mac Pro is ready, I would think it would coincide with the Mavericks release somewhat, or at least that thing where Apple "releases it" but it does not ship for a few more weeks.

It's also being built in the USA? So, there may be some issues there as well.

The Mac Pro is aimed largely at production departments, so, I would think sooner than later just to get access to end of year budgets.

I too would like some pricing details. I would like a Mac Pro, but can probably build a Windows computer that beats it in spec for a lot less. Considering that I mostly use Adobe CC and Cinema 4d, I don't really think OSX matters that much to me once I'm in the apps.

Like I said, I would like a Mac Pro, but if I can build a $2000 rig that competes with what they offer at $4000-$5000 then, that settles that. Especially knowing that TB2 everything is gonna cost even more when all is said and done.

I also like Apple, but, they definitely make it hard to make planning decisions in the name of marketing/secrecy.

Mari has just been released for Mac, with a 25% discount for the next 30 days.

In case you don't know, Mari was demoed at the Mac Pro reveal as a flagship technology demo.

To borrow a quote, "coincidences are simply the result of a lot of careful planning."

I say again... the Mavericks event! Sometime in the next 2 weeks.

Good lord, make the base MacCan 3k+ , just to keep the riffraff out of here . ;)

Seriously, price doesn't matter, bang for buck does .
Including TB peripherals - sorry, dead horse .

I think because you will have to supply your own HD/Drobo type of device besides your own monitor (same as current Mac Pro) the price maybe in line with all the other Mac Pros at their introduction. I purchased my old Pro about 8 years ago and it's still working but the software can nolonger be upgraded so it's time for a new one. I plan to get one for myself for the holidays and my Groundhog Day birthday. I have 3k saved up for it and already have a Drobo for HD storage. I plan to hook it up to my 40" HDTV.

I just got an email this morning that BOXX is shipping Thunderbolt 2 on its 4170.. so that's about the last piece of tech. Unless the custom GPU's are behind schedule.

Anytime after the Mavericks release.

And Mari needs OS 10.8.4 + ..and only supports Nvidia cards for now.. it needs 10.9 for AMD card support. So I think Mavericks is real close, maybe just a week away.

Saw that. Right now the only way to get TB2 is on a Windows machine.

My exact sentiment.

And I approve of any humor at the expense of drummers. ;)

Annoying...

The way they're rolling this out is anything but "pro". It's not an iPad, iPhone or some new iWatch crap, it's a machine meant for professional use. Being so hush hush about the release date, the price, the configs, is just idiotic. There's not going to be a huge line of people camped outside the Apple store looking to buy the nMP on release day and then resell it for a killing on eBay.

I wish they'd just announce the details already - Dell or anyone else couldn't be this precious about a desktop computer, it's just Apple being their usual stuck up selves, and it's annoying. Yeah yeah, I know, "then buy something else", and "they will release it when they want", but c'mon, they go years without updating it, announce a controversial redesign, and then leave everyone hanging for six months +. Only Apple gets away with this kind of crap, and it's getting really boring.

...my Groundhog Day birthday.

HA, we share a birthday! happy b-day to us on feb 2.

This is what they do NOW. They didn't always do things this way, they just got addicted to show business b*llsh*t, which worked under Jobs, and absolutely does not when Cook's doing it. Pro products shouldn't be treated the same way - and btw, did the iPad get announced and then six months later still had no sale date, no pricing, no specs? No. As someone mentioned above, maybe it's not Vaporware, but perhaps they showed the nMP way before it was realistically a viable product.
