I still have the 4S and 8+ sitting in my drawer in near flawless condition inside the original box. The 4S battery is pretty much done, it still turns on, but can't get even an hour from it. The 8+ is still ready to go if I needed it. Had the 4S since a couple weeks after release date, and the 8+ from pre order.

Currently using a 11 Pro Max daily as my second phone. Had it since pre order. Going to upgrade to the 14 Pro Max, mainly cause I'm starting to feel the disadvantages of it not being 5G compatible.

My beloved iPhone 6. Bought it in 2014 and used it until late 2021 when I got a 13 mini.
Needed a new front display and did change the battery myself once. Still a fantastic phone, much slimmer and lighter than the mini.

Four years.

I got a jet black iPhone 7+ in October of 2017. Would still be using it today, but I dropped it last October. It still works; I'm OCD enough that I decided to go get an SE instead of deal with the crack at the bottom. The lame thing is I had swapped out the battery just a few weeks before dropping it.

I've never had a phone less than two years.

For me:

Original -> 4s -> 6 Plus -> XR

(There was a short flirtation--about a year--with a Windows phone. It was the Lumia Icon and it was generally an excellent phone, but with a fatal flaw: it constantly dropped WiFi and kicked me out to Verizon, without a notification. In the days of 3GB/month limits that could be expensive. I liked the OS but app support was poor from the beginning and got worse. Still, I wish Windows Phone, Blackberry, and WebOS (I tested that for a few weeks) had all survived and were pushing innovation).

Same here. This thing won't die, and it still looks new. It's crazy. I'm going to see what happens to the 13 mini prices next month and upgrade if they're still for sale.
I will see what the prices are like for the 14 series; but am giving serious thought to just getting a battery replacement for my XR and waiting for the USB-C iPhone...

My first iPhone to purchase was a 4s in 2011 and i kept using it untill I got my iPhone X in 2017.

Doesn't seem to be a reason for using my X any shorter. Is still a top device.

But important: The iPhone X was one of the "highest-end" iPhone ever when released. For a long usage time this is relevant: for the next iPhone I am going to run for the top level again in order not to have it obsolete to early.

Kept my iPhone 3G from 2008 until early 2011
Kept my iPhone 8 Plus from launch in 2017 until getting an iPhone 11 Pro in 2020.

Now that I started doing Youtube I upgrade every year for the camera improvements alone.

iPhone 4 I kept for 20 months before it was stolen. My iPhone 12 Pro Max was 18 months old when I upgraded.

8 months as of now
I bought the 12 mini February 2021 (never had en iPhone before - came fra android). In November I traded it in for the 13 pro because of the battery. However, the 13 pro gave med severe hand and wrist pain - so I got the 13 mini this May. My plan is to keep this 13 mini until it gives out on me, probably with at least one battery replacement.

iPhone X, got it in December 2017 and kept it until October 2021. 3 years, 10 months. I was gonna keep it but I saw the 13 Pro models and the deal the carriers were offering, which I thought were pretty good and in line with my buying habits, so I upgraded to a 13PM.

Before that, I had an iPhone 6 that I got in January 2015 to December 2017. I was a month shy of 3 years.

I had iPhone 4s for 3.5 years, iPhone 7 for 2.5 years (then it fell and the screen shattered), now iPhone XS 2.5 years

I just don’t want to regret my purchase if the 15 PM comes out with USB-C. However, I’m trying to resist the urge to upgrade especially with AOD. We will see next month.

I understand. You could always trade your device in. That’s what I’m going to do next year, if the 15 PM come out with features I want.

Still using a iPhone SE bought in 2017. The battery was replaced by Apple last year. It's all I need.

I upgrade every year on launch day. One thing I've learned in the many years on these forums...those who say they aren't upgrading this year are the ones that do LoL
