Paying customers are not beta testers. Maybe the intention here isn’t to report a bug so much as to scoff at Apple for clearly not testing their software.

By the way OP I agree. iOS11 has been a buggy mess. The released version has been the worst release I have ever seen. I had to go into the accessibility settings and turn off the motion on the home screen because if I went into a a folder the corner would flicker all over the place on my iPad.

I’m seriously starting to lose respect for Apple. Even Microsoft doesn’t have these kinds of bugs. It’s amateur hour it seems.

Why don’t you go submit the bug then? :)

How can you roll back if Apple stops signing the older versions of iOS? I’d love to be able to roll back to the last version of iOS8 on my iPad mini gen1 because it runs slow as a slug on iOS9. I didn’t think this is possible. Do you have a walkthrough?
You are not rolling back windows 10 to windows xp. That is an erase and reinstall. More analogous to rolling back a hotfix, is rolling back to the previous version during the open signing window.

That is rolling back 4 generations of software. That would be going from iOS9 to iOS5. I don’t know if the iPad mini ever ran that operating system to begin with.

Open signing window ... yeah that is what I thought. Why allow a user to roll back when you can lock them in and make them think it’s time to buy a new I device because the one you have runs so slow it can’t even type a message without stuttering.

Okay I’ll change the parameters, rolling back windows 10 to windows 8.

As far as slowness my two 4 year old 5s are faster on iOS 11 than iOS 10. So I’m not sure what device you are referring to and if you even took proper troubleshooting steps.

However to get back to the original point you have about 2 weeks to roll-back an iOS version; sometimes more. More than enough time to try it out.

Regardless of if it runs faster or not shouldn’t mean you’re locked in. The question of if your phone running better doesn’t change the fact that the first generation iPad mini on iOS9 runs so slow it should never have had the operating system to begin with.

I don’t think I believe your claim about the 5S being faster on iOS11. Other people with iPhone 6 and 6+ have reported that iOS runs slower. Your phone is slower then a 6 so I seriously doubt your phone is running better on iOS11. If you did a clean wipe maybe it’s running faster after a cleanup or something.

Being locked in is not new news for how many years? It does seem some older devices haven’t handled the transition to newer o/s with grace. But all of that should be in the past with support only for 64 bits going forward. Those who desire a different ecosystem who dont want to be locked in there is a plethora of different options.

As far as the 5s I’m not the only one reporting that iOS 11 is better than iOS 10. I cant speak for your iPhone 6, but my 6s, 6s+ and 7 are doing well on iOS 11.

Just because it isn't news doesn't mean I can't complain about it.

I'm getting the feeling that you would never speak ill of Apple I think it's best we agree to disagree.

Nobody has ever said/insinuated one can’t comment/complain/argue/disagree/agree etc.

But let’s not paint the picture of who may or may not be the beacon of objectivity, but sure I’ll agree to disagree.

Well, the notification issue is back. Full restore as new is next. Bummer. It was doing great for the last week after resetting all settings.

Notifications in general appear to be broken. Recent notifications require you manually clearing them one by one. Later on in the day you will see earlier notifications you cleared manually earlier showing up again only this time they are grouped and you can clear them by pressing the X.

Notifications were fine in iOS 10. How the hell are we going backwards?

I turned off recents on my iPad Pro 12.9 2017 model. It started showing a empty space after a line where the recents would be. It wouldn’t go away Until I rebooted the device.

If you cleared them they shouldn't show up later in older notifications. You can usually 3D Touch the 'x' for older notifications and that should give you an option to clear all of them (older and recent ones). Also if you lock and unlock your device the recent ones will become part of the older ones where they could be cleared out all together at once.

Anyone else finding iOS 11.1 laggy on the X?

Worked smoother on my SE :S

Especially loading widget tray. What’s up with the choppiness

Works fine on my iPad too

EDIT: anyone else having this issue try force restarting your X
(Press up volume, let go
Press Down volume let go,
Hold down side button)

This fixed all lag I was experiencing. Smooth now. Not sure why I didn’t try this before posting but on plus side if anyone else has this issue try that first!

This morning my 5s on 11.0.3 acted like my iPhone 4 used to with iOS 7 -- not only laggy to the point that it took 2 seconds for each character entry to show/register, but also any text entry was very screwed up - the cursor would appear on the screen 2.5 text lines beneath where the actual text entry would occur. My phone is only 2/3 filled out of 32g. Then 3 hours later it's back to semi-normal. I had not been given the red notification that 11.1 was available and just noticed it's available from this thread then checking my phone's settings. Unsure whether or not to trust 11.1 yet...

Mate that describes the same choppiness I got on my X

I forced restart seemed to do the trick.

I think iOS 11 is still unoptimized, if you have the entire range of iOS devices experiencing choppiness on it

I've had iOS 11 since a week or so of its availability and my phone never acted so bad until this past morning -- I fear this is a sign of what's coming, where my phone will get worse and worse over time as Apple keeps bandaiding and patching. Just like where iOS7 rendered my iPhone 4 utterly completely useless over time due to lagginess that rivaled the rate it took to create the Grand Canyon, even after full resets.

Thats how they did it to the iPad mini. The decline in performance didn't just happen in one update and by the time you realize what is happening it's too late so then you keep going for the bug fixes and don't go to the next major version on the off chance they go for round two of crippling the device..

Since 11.2.5, I have more lock screen notification mess ups than ever. I’m just shocked how shoddy iOS has gotten in this release.

Never ever seen this glitch on my device. Now I am on iOS 11.3 b2. One app sends me 55 exactly the same notifications to me, yet none of them are broken or something.

This could be an isolated issue, as stated by the first reply of your original post.
