I have the Nokia 9500.

Nice phone, has wifi inside, which is very useful at times, and a lovely screen and keyboard. Interface is pretty nice too. I only buy nokia phones, as every time i've used /borrowed phones from other companies, I've been horrified at the interface blunders in them.

Problems with the 9500 : It's big. It's heavy. (tho many of the new smartphones are even heavier.) It doesn't look that cool. It's got no vibrating alert.

the lack of the vibrating alert is the biggest biggest no no for me (I'm Deaf and can't hear it ring) Just cos of that, I'm looking at buying a new phone.

So far the leader is the Nokia 9300, tho that has no wifi. The Orange SPV 5000 is also possible ( I think its sold in the USA as the Danger Hiptop)

Here's a pic of the Nokia 9500

Not a bad phone function wise - Symbian OS and all the iSync support you need - I do like the address book photo syncing.

However, it's a bit biiiig and the keys are starting to go. I've looked at upgrading, but I hardly use the phone, and I can't find a tariff that offers me free internet time rather than free minutes I won't use. If it does break, it'll be back to a 7210, which would be ok, but no bluetooth syncing then :(

This is my second Moto phone and both of them have had charging problems (ie: you'll plug it in, come back in an hour and it will never have charged, you'll wiggle the connector and it starts). Not too big of a problem, but very annoying, just wondering if anybody else had it.

That's how my last Motorola died, sadly. I really hated the menu system, so I wasn't too bothered. I traded in the above dodgy Motorola for £10 off the below pay as you go Nokia, bringing it to a grand total of £20

nokia1100.gif

I'd always had non-Nokia phones, but the menus were a bit cumbersome and, as the one thing I really use my phone for most, the predictive text was awful on the Motorola! So I was going to get a Siemens something-or-other, but tried it out in the shop, and me and the assistant just couldn't work out how to make it remember words in the predictive text. So I thought, sod it, I'll get a Nokia, because I know they'll do that and that's what I need the most.

And it's been great. It works. I'm happy. :)

Loyal customer!! what does that mean? You pay them more than they ask for :D?

I have the Razr2. It's thin and gorgeous! Not as feature-rich as other phones, but, I already have a nice camera, don't need one on my phone. You can get them cheap now.

The RAZR2 isn't on sale yet...do you mean the RAZR V3?

Anybody else still having a Ericsson T39m?
I still have a brand new one at home to use when my actual one stops working..
Bluetooth sync no problem (the phone is already years old)

It's my only phone. The amount of memory sucks. When I get an SMS, I have to click tens of times on "No" or whatever until it eventually stops telling me the memory is full.
I don't want to pay for another phone because I use it very little, and there's no phone that has all the stuff that I want, plus it would be expensive, specially without contract.

S710a...still awaiting for an updated Powerbook.

Here here. I've got an S710a as well, use it as a remote control for iTunes, pretty convenient, actually. Salling clicker is a pretty good add on. it even has VLC functionality.

I just got a SE T637 to replace the K700i I lost. It was quite cheap, and not a bad phone, although it loses a few menu "features" that were in the K700i that I used all the time. :(

My next phone will be a sexified little machine, I promise.

I'd get a Windows Smartphone, but it's hard to get many of them to sync with my Mac, so fuggitaboutit.

I'm thinking of getting this phone, the Samsung Z320i - a little bit bigger than the D600 but it's an iMode phone - and O2 are offering a pretty good tariff on their iMode and 3G phones.

Only trouble is it doesn't come out until November - by which time chances are I will have changed my mind again!

I've got a Nokia 6620 and Service Through Cingular. iSync's well, and works as a bluetooth modem w/out any extra stuff. I am thinking about redoing all my numbers in my address book so that they work better though.

The series 60 OS is great, but if you're looking to go with a new phone, then I would go with the Nokia 6820 or @ least I think it's the nummber. It might be 6882.

I have the motorola V60. I am 90% deaf and I have hearing aids, but my hearing isn't perfect, and this phone is crisp and clear. Love it.
It doesn't have all that TV and camera stuff built in. It's a cell phone. It "phones" people.

Motorola v510. Good phone, but a bit sluggish. Plus it's still a little big for me, and the external screen died on my first v510. (Got it replaced.) I wish they would make a v510, just smaller and with faster menu functions. I dread trying to find a contact name in the middle of the alphabet.

I have a Motorola V620 (V600 in black). Looks nice and syncs perfectly with my BMW iDrive. Oh yeah, it syncs with my PowerBook too.

OS X Question:

yippy said:
I have the E815 with Verizon. Syncs Calendars and contacts just fine but I can't transfer pictures, movies or sound files because I have no way to do the seem edit. One thing to note, it does have a mini SD card slot so if you wanted you could by a card and a card reader for it and then you would be able to transfer pictures and audio, however, ring tones are still not transferable.

What Operating system for your MAC do you have...OS X.?????

Looks like I'm getting one of these:

samsung-d600-00.jpg

O2 offered me a great deal, O2 Discount 500 - 500 cross network, anytime minutes, 100 texts for £25 a month - going to call back and haggle for more free texts though.

Just ring them up and say your thinking of moving to a different network, in this case Three, and ask will they price match..works a charm and it works out £5 cheaper a month!

Since they just pre-announced it today, I can say I've been using the Nokia E70 off and on for some time now. It won't be out for a few months, but I love it. 6822-like flip-open form factor, but with 352x416 pixel display, 1600x1200 pixel camera, QWERTY keyboard, etc., it's wicked.

The Finnish site is here, but I'm too lazy to find an English version.

Beta software isn't perfect, but this thing'll sell well, I'm sure.

The E61 (which looks like a Blackberry) is also quite nice, but I've only held it, not used it.

My take-out-of-the-building phone is a 9500. Yes, it's a big brick, but it's got 80MB wired in, 1GB in an MMS, wireless LAN, BT, VPN, etc. The VGA camera sucks, but the rest of it is pretty decent. I like the E70 better, though.
