Today it was both "The Smurfs" and "Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves". My boys liked both, but wouldn't stop talking about the Smurfs. I found it enjoyable.

I thought "Honey" was much worse than the first, and i could barely tolerate the first. Typical Disney "keep pumping them out until you have nothing but crap".

Yesterday I watched "Dark City" for the third time. Great film, and it's a shame that it always seems to be eclipsed by "The Matrix". Personally I think Proyas' movie is better.

Watched "Triangle" last night - a decent thriller that has to do with a group of people who board a ship and find themselves caught in a time loop.

Elements of this idea have been done before, but this was intelligently written, with a few nice twists and surprises. I like finding good, relatively unknown movies. This one came up on Amazon as a recommendation for people who liked "Dark City".

My favorite time loop story: Star Trek Next Generation- Cause and Effect.

Watched Casablanca today. They don't make movies like that anymore...

One of my absolute favorite movies. I love the scene where Victor gets the entire cafe to sing La Marseillaise in direct defiance of the Germans.

The most powerful scene of that movie, followed by Capt Renault looking at Rick as he tells his men to round up the usual suspects...

Just saw M. Night Shyamalan's "Devil". The premise looked absolutely intriguing, like an especially twisted Twilight Zone...and it didn't disappoint.

I know there's a lot of Shyamalan-bashers out there, but screw 'em. This was freaking scary.

BTW, the movie's logo is simple, maybe even obvious...but there couldn't possibly be a better one. :D

I finally got around to watching "Zombieland." I really dug it... I liked the friendly sort of "road movie" vibe. And a nice cast of characters. It avoided putting in one the really annoying/unlikeable character that often pops up in zombie survival type movies.

I saw X-Men First Class. I don't recall X-Men history being quite that way, but overall I thought it was a fun movie.

Kevin Bacon's death scene was pretty over the top, though.

Thor was alright, similar in structure to the first Iron Man movie. Not great, not bad. The story won't impress you, but the interpretations of Thor, Loki, & Odin are very good.

X-Men 1st Class though, rocked. It does a reboot of sorts to the X-Men franchise, to give it new life after that Last Stand fiasco. No it doesn't follow X-Men lore exactly, but what film does? It's all about does it do the material justice, and 1st Class does.
