I just watched A.I.: Artificial Intelligence

It was one of the most wonderful films I watched. Only a few films ever bring me to tears, and this was definitely one of them. I mean it's just a great film. If you haven't seen it, I'd go see it. Just a wonderful movie.

That movie was like a double whammy, spoiler>> humans wiped out, and a heart broken robot...<<end spoiler, not to imply it was not a good movie. It was good.

Just saw Girl with Dragon Tattoo. I think they told it about as good as this story can be told. I've read all 3 Girl books. I've described the first book as the thriller without the thrills. I was hoping that somehow Hollywood could turn this into a riveting movie, nope but it was better than the original Swedish movie. The spoiler> rape scene<spoiler was necessary, but uncomfortable to watch. I was hoping for a higher level of satisfaction when Lisbeth got her licks in. Evidence was added, but it did not come across as revelations (at least to me). The main plot, it's all most as if it laid there until suddenly the culprit was out in the open and then it was over in a flash. The ending for the main villain was unsatisfying. The end of the movie was ehh. Not helping was the overbearing background track that just droned on.

Another thing. The picture quality at the movie was all most like watching analog as compared to HD... I don't know if that was because the movie was dark or the theater I was at.

Contagion - Thought this was a pretty good movie. Big cast, good job of showing a semi-believable modern day plague.

Cocaine Cowboys - Great documentary about cocaine in Miami in the 70's and 80's. This is available on netflix watch instantly for anyone interested.

Entourage - Not a movie (at least yet) but finally finished up season 8 of Entourage this weekend as well.

Well right now I'm giving Netflix UK a test by playing Lost In Translation. I love this movie, but I wish Sofia had filmed it using more modern cameras, it would have fared much better over time.

I've watched a fair bit this week while I was off from work. Made it down to the cinema twice and saw Sherlock Holmes and Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol. Both were quite entertaining. Wish I could have found the time for A Girl with a Dragon Tattoo as well, but I guess that can wait until next week :)

Going to continue my 30 Rock binge later on, nearly through season 4.

Oh, and new Parks and Recreation and the Office waiting too :D

Good times.

I just finished watch the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition Trilogy again. I don't think I've watched those since 2008.

I started watching District 9 last night but I couldn't stand how bad it was, despite the fact that I usually like the science fiction / alien genre. I turned it off after about 15 minutes of documentary style filming.

I also watched Midnight in Paris yesterday. All of the historical figures that appear in the movie made it interesting for me.

Took the kids to see Beauty & the Beast in 3D today - it was short (only about an hour and a half) and the kids loved it. And amazingly, that's the first time I'd ever seen it.

All in all an afternoon well spent.

You'd *never* seen it before?! That's crazy... Not my favorite Disney movie overall, but Belle is pretty awesome :D

I saw Hysteria yesterday, and enjoyed it surprisingly much. The storyline was quite predictable, and of course it ended happily, but I think it has some value in showing how ridiculously women used to be thought of/treated...

was impressed with both, for different reasons.

Soon after that it converts to cinematic style... :)

Last night we watched:

A Woman, a Gun and a Noodle Shop

It was odd…

Usually I am a big fan of Zhang Yimou's directing. But with this one I didn't know where I was. Sub-standard Fellini? Slapstick? Tragedy?
Still enjoyed it though. :)

Shows how taste vary. Most people I know consider it a very good movie. As was mentioned by Huntn, the documentary style is at the beginning of the movie.

Watched Contagion a few days ago. Just skip the money and run it through your head. A virus. CDC finds where it came from. CDC develops vaccine.

There you have it.

As a biochemist who occasionally works with viruses, I found it much better than the other movies within the same genre.

Girlfriend and I just watched this last night. Not a huge fan of Joseph Gordon Levitt myself, but this movie turned out to be hilarious. I should have watched it sooner.

I like thrillers and horrors
yesterday I watched "the last house on the left " (2009)
thats an awesome movie. Watch it

Agreed. We rented Hesher and liked it so much we bought a used copy. :)

I didn't really have high hopes for it. I saw a poster for it in the bargain bin at the local Slackers (used games and movie store), and decided it would be worth a download. Not one that I'll be watching over and over like I do with some other movies, but it was good for an hour and half worth of laughs.
