Visually Prometheus is an amazing movie (although I was annoyed not to find a cinema locally screening in 2D... I think the 3D detracts from the quality of the visuals).

In terms of plot, character development and most importantly suspense, it was completely lacking. Sad that the Ridley Scott who created such a dark, subtle and suspenseful world in Blade Runner should forget how to make a decent movie. Disappointing.

3 out of 5.

SHUT'UP!
Oh, man, I sincerely hope you don't know what you're talking about... :p
Tell me you hated, Alien, Aliens, StarWars, and Hellboy and I'll feel much better. ;)
Isn't this opening on Friday?

Now watching Body Double. Some people say it just plain sucked and some parts are dated from the 80s but I always enjoyed watching it. Loved the mini Frankie Goes to Hollywood video in the movie.

OK, that's all true! (crosses fingers).

Opened last Friday in the UK.

You still need to see the film if you like this sort of stuff - for the visuals alone. Just 'manage your expectations' about it being an Alien movie... it is part of the story, but it has a very different vibe.

My wife really wants to see this movie, so I'm thinking we will be seeing it in the theater as well.

The movie seems to have a substantial buzz. At Rotten Tomatoes it holds a 90% rating of those who want to see it.

Well, we saw Snow White and the Huntsman last night. It was really well done and the tweaks to the story were pretty good. In the middle of the movie my wife leaned over and said "this is basically Snow White as Tolkien would have done it". She pretty much nailed it.

I all ready knew I had unrealistic expectations for this film. Will still have to see it in the theater. :)

It was surprisingly good, however I think the main trailer ramped it up a bit too much and I was not impressed with Ms Stewart's performance nor the resolution of the conflict.

Other aspects of the film carried it including Charlize Theron’s Queen Ravenna, her brother, Chis Hemsworth, and the outstanding dwarfs including Ian McShane, Bob Hoskins, Ray Winstone, Nick Frost, Eddie Marsan, Toby Jones, and Johnny Harris. Interesting article: Snow White Screwed Us Out of Dwarf Roles!.

In case you didn't know -- the dwarfs in the new movie are played by normal-sized actors, whose limbs were either digitally shrunk, or whose faces were digitally transplanted onto little people's bodies.

In the Lord of the Rings movies, they either used short body doubles for comparison shots or perspective tricks, I believe.

Lol, thanks!

We saw Snow White and the Huntsman, a very nicely choreographed movie with nice visuals. However if there is a weak point, I'd say it is Kristen Stewart who imo was kind of a limp noodle. And I found the climax to be underwhelming. The elves were great including Ian McShane who they magically shrunk down... :)

The trailer is a very good example of how marketing can make a product appear more substantial than it is.

I saw this on opening night (wife wanted to see it). We both thought this movie was horrible. Horrible! What did we get out of it, Charlize Theron, she likes to yell alot and make faces at the camera. The brother horrible. Kristen Stewart, still can't act. She was pretty much Bella in this except she gives a lack luster uninspiring speech.

The only redeeming factor were a couple of the dwarfs. However Bob Hoskins character was bad. The lines they made him say were horrible.

There is more but I don't care to write anymore. I gave this show a 2/10. One for the special effects (most of them were pretty descent) and the six of the seven dwarfs being good! :D

----------

Saw MIB3 with a friend the other day.

It's the kind of movie I'll happily watch at home on a quiet afternoon, but nothing brilliant.

Also kind of disappointing that they decided to go with a Pitbull song at the end instead of the original theme song (I almost puked when I heard "Mr Worldwide!" instead of Will Smith)

Saw this too. It wasn't that bad and you are right it is a good movie for the home on a quiet afternoon.

There were a couple of parts that had me laughing though.

Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol...

BLECH!

The movie is technically competent, but when I get the feeling the story is preordained on rails, what could be tension evaporates into hohumm. Oh, oh, look out Tom, don't fall!! At least they only got $2.99 out of me. ;)

And since the Hurt Locker which I liked, I have not liked Jeremy Renner in this or in Avengers, although he played a good psycho in The Town.

Halfway through The Bourne Identity again. Love that movie. The last two just didn't have the same feel. At all. And unlike the books they killed off Franka :(

And I just bought the two disc DVD/BluRay Combo of Tron Legacy. Amazon Prime has free two day shipping so I'll have it to watch by tomorrow evening ...yay me.

Safe House- The difference between this and Ghost Protocol could not be more different. This movie generates real tension and excitement at least for me. :) Ghost Protocol was a fantasy in comparison.

Prometheus

Wow! Saw it today in a packed movie theater. If you are into Aliens, this is the type of movie to see on the big screen. This story is a worthy prequel to the Aliens series. There are revelations, deceit, incredible cinematography and visuals, and hard core action.

However, my wife who is an Alien/Aliens fan, disliked it because she thought they mild spoiler>> were telling basically the same story over, or at least there were too many similar themes regarding the Weyland Corporation.<<end spoiler

Aliens scifi fan that I am, I was impressed. I will purchase this title when it comes out on BluRay... :):)

After you see it, check in at the Prometheus Spoiler Thread in this forum to praise or pick it apart.

I seem to be the only one not watching "Prometheus"...

I'm watching, as I type this, Sam Peckinpah's "Ride The High Country", with Joel McCrea and Randolph Scott, two aging actors at the end of their careers playing two cowboys at the end of their trail.

From this movie comes the iconic line..."I just want to enter my house justified."

Terrific movie, and an interesting early Peckinpah.

Just saw Prometheus. I've been waiting on this movie since I heard that the script was started.

I'm still debating on whether or not this movie was as good as I had hoped. Not scary or suspense filled like Alien, not action packed kick ass like Aliens, but somewhere in between.

Visually, it was fantastic. It explained where the Alien came from and stuff, but something seems way off with the timeline of the whole series.

If you've seen the movies, you'd understand. All in all, I give it just 3.5 out 5 stars.

I watched God Bless America last night. A very twisted movie but great nonetheless. It's similar to Idiocracy except the smart guy goes on a shooting rampage killing all of the morons.

I watched a film called Stake Land yesterday on my Sky VOD service. I wasn't expecting much, my dad just put it on for himself and I watched while playing about on my iPad.

It was very solid. Not brilliant, but different, atmospheric and well written. At times I felt that it was a bit too bleak, but I guess a Vampiric outbreak is going to be closer to "28 Days Later" then "Twilight" :p

Finally got around to seeing Safehouse. Holy crap, this movie is awesome! Loved it! Probably one of Denzel's best. I still think he was better in Man On Fire though.

Both of these movies were impressive. Man on Fire was crazy good.

Zombieland
- Not a bad experience. Actually surprisingly good and humorous.

He did a great job in both movies, both movies were pretty much kick ass. As for Zombieland.... 2 hours of my life flushed down the toilet. That dude should have gotten off the screen afters Cheers shut down. :)
