I just finished "Iron Man" and "Iron Man II". Both were totally ridiculous, but very enjoyable. I'd already seen "Thor", and although I didn't really care for it, I'm looking forward to "The Avengers".

Last week I finally saw "9". I liked it a lot better than "Coraline", but I think I'd just rate it "pretty good".

Just saw Chronicle last night. WOW. It's been a very long time since I have seen something so flawlessly executed. I thought it was just gonna be one of those fun little teen movies. Wrong. This film is in Oscar level territory. Shakespeare could not have written a better tragedy.

Trust me, I'm a film snob and I was blown away. This movie never drops the ball. I took it over to a friend's house tonight and he was like, "You want me to seriously watch this?" "Just shut the **** up and check it out!" He was floored like I was. When I left his place tonight, he said he was going to watch it again. I probably will too. This is one of those movies that stick with you forever. It is quite simply the best film I've seen in quite a while, and will be in my year end top ten list.

I just bought the Marx brothers' "Horse Feathers" on eBay today. One of my absolute favorite movies, I cannot wait 'til it gets here. :D (I even paid extra for the upgraded shipping; a first for me.)

Just watched the Avengers in normal 3D not IMAX, horrible. Couldve saved a couple bucks watching the non 3D.

Hurt Locker, just then.

Dark Shadows- wait for rental. The overall tones of the story are serious, with quirky, semi-comedic elements inserted. Johnny Depp's character Barnabus Collins is monotone, monotonous, and boring. Yes, I realize he is trying to emulate the original Barnabus. Somehow I was reminded of a really drab Capt Jack. :) The supporting cast except for the daughter and the governess are one dimentional with nothing to draw me in to the story which is on the weak side IMO.

Not really a spoiler: >>dark magic was used to turn Barnabus into a vampire, but what exactly I did not get...<<

I forgot to mention, Dark Shadows has the gratuitous PG-13 (clothed) "fly around the room" sex scene, lol. No, that does not make seeing it worth it. It's really kind of stupid. :D

Wait- you actually thought it was going to be good?

No, my wife wanted to see it. I was like, "Did you even watch Dark Shadows when it was on the air in the 70's?" Her answer, "No." "So why do you want to see it?" Her answer, "It looks funny and has Johnny Depp."

Main thing: Dark Shadows wasn't a comedy. As a kid, I thought it was a weird show (yeah, I'm old), and since I wasn't one to watch soap operas (more like what it was, IMO), I never bothered with it. So, when I saw it was being made into a comedy, I had my doubts about it. I also read the reviews, so having a Rotten Tomato score of 43% (probably lower now) was enough for me to want to miss it. However, it's all about making the wife happy. :)

From what I read, it's being said this is the worst movie Depp ever made.

Worse than Benny and Joon?
Worse than Nick of Time?
Worse than the Astronaut's Wife?
I'm sure there is more suckage.....

The wife and I watched, John Carpenter's The Thing (1982). One of my favorite horror films...Kurt Russell was great! One of the few examples where the sequel is better than the original.
