Last film I watched was Pineapple Express. It provided the lulz as a good comedy should, not the best but certainly entertaining enough :)

Last film I watched at the cinema was Hunger Games, which is good but really overrated. I'm not knocking it but seriously there's far too much hype surrounding it. Again, still good entertainment and it does make a few valid observations about our society (deeeeep man).

The Innkeepers. I guess it was very low budget and maybe a first time try or something - because the story was paper thin and the actors were between mediocre to rock bottom.

^^ yep, love the Marvel movies, can't wait for avengers.

I've already bought a ticket for the ultimate marvel marathon so I'll see every movie on Thursday leading up to the midnight premier of The Avengers!! I'm like a little kid giddy with excitement!

I can't say why exactly but I'm preparing myself to be disappointed with the Avengers...

Last night we saw "John Carter" at a second-run theater. For all the horrible reviews, it really wasn't that bad. Great effects, decent plot. If there's a sequel, I'd definitely see it.

On a completely different front, I caught "Midnight in Paris" the other night on cable. Owen Wilson plays the Woody Allen role if Allen were 20 years younger. It gives you the feeling that Wilson has been playing Woody Allen through all his other movies, too. Recommended.

John Carter- on my to-rent list. :)

Avengers- Not Yet Released. I saw a trailer for Avengers. If you saw Thor, you know at the end he spoiler> got stuck on his home world with his earthly girlfriend looking for him (from Earth). <end spoiler. I wonder if the Avenger movie addresses this or blows it off?

Just saw the Avengers...

...Holy crap what an awesome movie, it totally lives up to the hype. It's long, but a lot of fun, there is always something happening to hold your attention. The interaction between the characters is fantastic too, and each hero makes the leap from their respective series mostly intact which I liked.

Mark Ruffalo as the newcomer holds his own against the others nicely. He does a great job as Bruce Banner/Hulk. I think this has to be one of my favourite things about this movie, they've finally found a way to make the Hulk work.

So yeah, I'll stop raving for the time being. I want to see it again though, I might tag along with some friends going to see it this week :p

Most Anticipated 2012 Summer Movies:
*Prometheus (6/8)- I'm so afraid that my anticipation for this Aliens prequel will crash and burn. Fingers crossed it blows me away!
*The Amazing Spiderman (7/3)- Wondering how many things they will change from the last franchise?
*Total Recall (8/3)- I enjoyed the Arnold version. Will this stand up?

On My To-Rent List:
*Snow White and the Huntsman
*Brave
*Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter
*Ice Age: Continental Drift
*Neighborhood Watch
*The Bourne Legacy

I have seen many movies like super man 2, spider man 1-2-3, hell boy, splice, terminator 1-2-3, herry potter 1-2-3-4, hulk, titanic. But right now I am watching the the movie of ghost, yes watching the movie of Ghost Rider 2.

I heard it was awful? If like the original, I'd tend to agree. Nicolas Cage is becoming such a movie whore (5 movies in 2011) although I liked him in National Treasure.

Avengers Member Thor: Based on the 2011 Thor movie how did they deal with his relationship with his Earthbound girlfriend, Jane Foster? If you remember he was last seen stuck on his home world, and she on Earth searching for him.

1. As if it never happened.
2. Mentioned it.

Since Loki (Thor's step brother) is in this movie, I assume there are some Thor movie tie ins. Are they adequately addressed?

If you think spoiler quotes are appropriate, please use a "white" font color. Thanks!

It's mentioned, but only briefly. The timing of the Avengers seems to pick up right after the Captain America movie, but a great deal of time has passed since most of the others, including Thor.

Thanks. I think I am going to break down and see this in the theater. :)

Ok, my instincts were right. I don't want to rain on anyone's party but we saw Avengers today and it was long on eye candy and short on the elements that really excite me in a movie. I call it a lack of soul. The differences might be subtle, but I'd hold up a movie like X2 or the original Spider Man as much better movies, real human drama in a comic based story.

The wife and I saw it last night. I think I understand where you are coming from, but I have to disagree. I thought the Avengers handled the ensemble cast of a comic book team better than any other superhero movie that has come to the big screen thus far. It's hard to develop characters in any movie, but especially one's with huge casts of "main" characters. I also think it's hard to view this movie as a stand alone it's really more of a package deal putting it all together with the multiple individual prequels. They did a good job of staying true to the comic and the interactions between the characters. As far a "human drama" I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for in a fictional story about superheros and intergalactic space invasion. I thought for the subject matter presented and suspension of disbelief required that they did a great job with the "human drama element". I would give some examples, but I don't want to spoil scenes for those who haven't seen the movie.

All in all it was an awesome fun summer action movie. We did see it in 3D Imax as well. I'd highly recommend it for anyone who likes superhero's and enjoys these kind of "popcorn" movies. :)

just finished an epic film night, we watched:

-Godfather
-Fight Club
-Reservoir Dogs
-Pulp Fiction
-Easy Rider:mad:
-Paranormal Activity:eek:

No problem at all. I don't expect everyone or even most to agree with me. :) Although I like eye candy, a movie must be supported some other level of emotional involvement. For example, I loved Thor the first time I saw it, precisely because of human interactions, between Thor and his father and brother, especially between Thor and Jane Foster. Natalie Portman commanded the screen in that movie.

The bottom line is do I want to see the Avengers again, will I purchase the DVD? I can't say I'm a 100% no at this point. There have been other movies I've walked out disappointed and then later decided I liked them. :):)

BTW, saw Chicken Little, again. An incredible melding of pop songs into an animate feature! :D
