Just now watched the newest Total Recall movie. I must say it was pretty good. Outstanding visuals, good plot. The script could have been a bit more of substance. But totally enjoyable.

I haven't seen it. To be honest, I hadn't even heard of it, but I will look for it.

And after I see it, I will submit a pedantic, pretentious incredibly annoying review...as is my normal practice!! :D

Moon is fantastic. Look for it on Netflix instant if u have it.

The movie was good.

What looked fake?!?

The pale Ork, the birds, many of the "action" scenes, just about all of it, quite frankly. I think the new 3D process exposed a lot of the cracks. I lost patience with the story after an hour and a half too. Dreadful slow pacing. This was one book. It should be one movie. It did not even come close to the storytelling level or character development in Lord of the Rings.

I beg to differ about the effects.

As for one book and one movie, they are putting as much detail from the book into the movie. I found it slow as well, but that is what the wife told me since she has read the book.

Red Beard. Not exactly a Christmas-type movie, but I'm enjoying the fact that after signing up for Hulu Plus, I now have access to 700 Criterion movies. That alone makes it worth the $7.95/month.

Last night it was "Holiday Inn", which is a family favorite.

Today it's "How the Grinch Stole Christmas", more of a favorite for the kids. Dah whoo doray, my heart is four sizes too small.

I feel all most positive that adding the extra material dilutes the impact of the original story. I might be able to forgive it if it was 2 movies... Bottom line I want the Hobbit to be what I read, not the plumped out version. Despite this I'll probably spend the extra to see the 48 fps, just to see if it wows me. Not planning on it though.

Just watched the Bourne Legacy last night with my wife. We really liked it.

I watched it a few days ago and thought that it was better than I expected. Not quite up to the previous three Bourne movies, though. The first one is still my favorite.

Last night, I watched the 'Christmas Special' of 'Downton Abbey', a movie length episode which takes place almost a year after the conclusion of Series Three.

Very impressive production values, an attention to (historic) detail, an excellent ensemble cast, and equipped with occasionally improbable plots, 'Downton Abbey' is a soap opera par excellence.

Yes, I know, I know. One cannot always watch serious documentaries or live, solely, on a diet of current affairs. For all of its flaws (and I'm not blind to them), I have to admit that I love the show.

I wonder if this was broadcast in the States? :(

Recently watched Ice Age Continental Divide... I like the series, but they should of quit while they were ahead.

I understand that Season Three is about to start shortly (possibly January sometime) in the States on PBS. Season Three takes the story from the Christmas Special which was the sequel to Season Two (which was set over the Christmas of 1919-1920 and thus, was, in effect, a time line jump of half a year or so from the end of Season Two) through the time span for Season Three (which runs through 1920).

The Christmas Special for Season Three (which was broadcast last night on ITV of the UK) was set almost a year later again, in September 1921. I assume that it will be broadcast in late February or early March in the US.

Last night after the leftovers were cleared away, me and my brothers watched American Reunion. I loved it. American Pie was one of those movies I watched at just the right time in my youth. I watched it when I was just a little younger then the main cast was meant to be in the film and it hit all the right notes. Reunion was like a huge wave of nostalgia that brought back some good memories. Again, it came out at just the right time and more then made up for the 3rd film which was unbelievably disappointing.

Today, we've just finished our epic Lord of the Rings extended trilogy marathon.

It was one of the most exhausting things I've ever done. Awesome boxing day though!

Thanks! DA is shown in the states on PBS- the U.S. govt subsidized Public Broadcasting System on Masterpiece Theater. I'll keep an eye open for it and set it up on my DVR.

Huff Post and other US sources say that the broadcasting of Season Three of Downton Abbey is scheduled to commence on January 6 on PBS.

Enjoy. In my proverbially humble opinion, Season Three is a lot better than Season Two - the sort of utterly improbable plot line lurches which took place then have been more or less eradicated - the writing is better and so are the plots. Everyone gets a good story somewhere in the series. Anyway, enjoy.
