Stands up to this very day. A great yarn from the period, timeless in it's own way.

Solid watch that never fails to entertain. A very good crime, drama with near perfect pacing & execution...apparently Training Day was the most watched movie during the lockdowns we had to have …
Only 1K I'd give you all up LOL. Thankfully I have greater interests in the fair lady Treen...View attachment 2341588
I'd sacrifice 1000 Android users to spend some time alone with Jennifer Connelly.
I did not finish Oppenheimer, in fact turned it off early on. For whatever reason, I was not in the mood for this kind of story telling of which I have no label for, just gloomy. Of possible interest, my son tells me The Imitation Game is told in the same manner, of which I have not seen that either. We have recently spent time watching --
- Oppenheimer. But it is a long film, and definitely should be taken in 1-hour chunks.
- Fat Man and Little Boy. 1989. An alternative to Oppenheimer.
- Hidden Figures. For the third time. Eminently re-watchable.
- Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The story line had to be changed when the previous star, Chadwick Boseman died, but it is an interesting film. Lots to think about, even for a comic-based super-hero film.
- Cromwell. 1970. With Richard Harris and Alec Guinness (also Timothy Dalton as a right-royal rotter...)
It’s been so long, I don’t remember it, but I think I watched it. I venture to say this is very much a different film, from Atomic Blond of which you're a fan of, but are there any good comparisons between these movies that can be made regarding intrigue? AB is propelled by physical encounters, but there is also the search for a NOC list (also prominently featured in the first Mission Impossible Movie), a rogue station chief, and the identity of a double agent. Similiar themes at all? 🤔The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1965)

One of the best Cold War films ever produced. Lot of moving parts here, lots of subtleties that matter. Shooting in B&W absolutely the right move as adds to the atmosphere & depth of the film. One to watch...

I’d say both excellent…Another good version, I still prefer the OG. Denzel Man on Fire (2004) stunning, what a performance. Not sure if Man on Fire or Training Day is his best work, by a hair Man on Fire...

Same here, just wasn't in the mood so shut it down. The imitation Game is a better watch IMO, Oppenheimer while technically excellent is akin to pulling teeth...I did not finish Oppenheimer, in fact turned it off early on. For anyone who finds this stuff interesting:Hellboy (2004)- No one can outdo Ron Perlman as Hellboy. I never read the Dark Horse comic, but this story, its visuals, and atmosphere is great…Nazi’s and the occult. Good creative practical effects and CGI, I don’t insist on agreement. However another case of an unenlightened audience 66% RT, the only vindication is the 2019 Hellboy was horrid and scored lower.
Before jumping to modern times, it starts in WWII, to introduce Hellboy, the Nazis build a dimensional portal off the coast of Scotland and intend to free the Ogdru Jahad to aid them in defeating the Allies and bringing on Armageddon.
There is also the classic Russian silent film Battleship Potemkin. From 1925, so the only dialogue is on screen cards that have subtitles. It is considered a cinematic masterpiece. You can watch it on YouTubeIve discovered a swag of Russian movies on youtube made by Mosfilm.
They seem to be ad free...but subtitled..if you dont mind the reading.
Stalingrad, Part One | WAR FILM | FULL MOVIE
Liberation is a five part movie. The scale of the battle scenes is massive.
The first movie I saw with Perlman was 'The name of the rose'...found him more erm...unsettling in that than Hellboy.Hellboy (2004)- No one can outdo Ron Perlman as Hellboy. a strange and twisted man …Ron Perlman played Salvatore, who was supposed to be an unsettling character. He was probably somewhat autistic, and had been caught up in a heretical movement.
I have this on dvd and a book about it as well...There is also the classic Russian silent film Battleship Potemkin. From 1925, so the only dialogue is on screen cards that have subtitles. It is considered a cinematic masterpiece. You can watch it on YouTube
