I'm a lefty, and I can't text with my right thumb so it instinctively goes in my left since that's my texting thumb. And before I had an iPhone I kept my RAZR in the left and my Zune in the right. My phone goes in the left alone and now I keep headphones and change in the right and my wallet in the back left.

I'm a 'right pants pocket' sort of guy! I keep nothing else in the same pocket, just the iPhone.
It would've been good to add 'jacket pocket' or something similar. I'm sure some people carry it around in their jacket or suit pocket.
Same here but LEFT pocket, i dont keep anything else in that pocket with the phone. I try to be really careful with it but since ive moved to Arizona i have managed to put a few small scratches in the screen. No one but me would see them but i know they are there.
i use a holster. the iphone is too heavy for a pocket. and i dont want any scratches or lint in on or in it.
I carry a fanny pack over my shoulder like a messenger bag and I keep my phone in that.... so I picked purse.

A messenger style bag is NOT the same as a fanny pack. Unless you are talking about carrying an actual fanny pack messenger bag style. In which case...FAIL.

I use it way more than my phone and once the headphones with mic come out I won't need a phone and I'll just use skype on my iPod.
I usually hold it in my hand because I don't trust myself not to accidently put my keys in the same pocket.
When it's in my jeans it is mostly in my left pocket.
My phone, chapstick, keys, and other stuff are in my right.
Sometimes when I'm not wearing my backpack I will keep it in my left back pocket, well when I'm not sitting down that is.

You should get a full coverage skin for it. Then your iPod and keys/coins/etc can play nice in the same pocket.
I should get a screen protector + a Griffin iClear.
I was going to do that, but when I got my 2G iPod touch, it was the first day they got cases for it in so I was only able to get the ONE they had.
Currently it's sporting an Incase siicone case.
It's a little loose and is starting to rip a little bit.
And I have a scratch one my iPod at the top of the screen, it almost reaches the black part.
One the back there are a bunch of little curricular scratches, I know what those are from but don't feel like explaining it.
So I put mine in the front pocket of my Jeans last night at a Gig.
someone put their hands around my waist and took it from my pocket. They stole about 10 other people's phones also. And it was so packed noone saw who it was. Thats £400 on a new iPhone I didnt want to have to spend today

I'm sorry newb, when did I ask you for fashion tips? Yep, it is an actual fanny pack, it's Nike white with black seams and is splatter painted, and yes, I do carry it over my shoulder like a messenger bag. And yeah, it does look good.
There should be some sort of an age filter/rule when posting in the forums. Or at least maturity/relevancy filter.
