So the feature set of Yosemite is pretty much set, and largely, the look too.

However, I'm hoping there's a couple of UI before the GM. Such as:

- The blue on the radio buttons is a little bit too bright for my tastes, needs to be toned down.

- I mentioned in another thread, the white boxes around the buttons don't look good against the grey title bar. An option to remove the box until you mouse over them (Like Mavericks Calendar) would be nice.

- The search bar in the Finder looks like a button, as it has the same white as other buttons (could be resolved with removing the boxes on other buttons as above)

- System Prefs icon doesn't look right. Make it a circle like the iOS 7 icon.

- Folder icons are way too bright and should be redesigned.

How about you? what would you like to see tweaked?

(a good look at the UI here: https://bold.pixelapse.com/minming/mac-os-x-yosemite-under-the-magnifying-glass)

Here we go... :D

The back/forward button pair needs to unite, now it looks like two separate buttons just squished together.

Window title bar colours are a bit inconsistent between some applications.

Search fields look terrible because they have their placeholder text and icon centred. Moreover, it takes a second before a search field will accept text input when selected, because the field needs to align the icon and the placeholder to the left (with an animation).

Get rid of the superficial and useless animations in check boxes, radio buttons and popup buttons.

Text rendering is terrible in sheets and some other places with transparency. And while I am at it, I would like Lucida Grande back at least as an option.

Safari needs an option to have the address bar occupy full available width in the toolbar and display the whole URL.

I wish they would tweak the Graphite UI option, it has always had just a hint of blue – now it's just plain grey.

I like my Spotlight at the top right corner of the screen.

The Finder icon just does not feel right.

I think the notification badges use a red that is far too dull. The red used in stocks in notification center would be good.

I hope colors show through notification center just like they do in iOS. II can't tell for sure, but it looks like the lines in Yosemite are just grey. I'd like them to match what's behind them, it would look a lot better. Also, the Today and Notifications buttons should do the same thing.

That's really it for me right now.

- Darker windows like in Tiger through Mavericks. I'm always there, wondering if my window isn't deselected or something.
- Safari icon. Never liked it in iOS, why is it chasing me all the way through OS X now ?!?
- Rectangle Finder icon
- Old Folder icon, with more vivid colors
- Hate the new Preview icon, the magnifying glass looks like a badge on the icon and drives me nuts.
- Startup Disk pane in System Preferences. I've been asking that for about 3 iterations of OS X.
- A complete refresh to Disk Utility.
- I wouldn't center the root address of a site in Safari's address bar. Instead, I would align it on the left and add the title of the page in light gray next to it. Like Chrome does.
- I would call the Pixelmator Team and tell them a black interface is now hurting about 10M pairs of eyes and counting. These guys are driving me crazy !

Mentioned in another thread that something feels off about the new Finder icon in Developer Preview 1.

<- Does anyone else think the placement of the eyes and the aspect ratio is slightly off?

Made a graphic for those who have trouble understanding the meaning of the icon. Also wondering why there are two different versions... one in developer preview 1, and another on Apple's website.

BONUS! Here's some nostalgic references:

Zoom Window

The “zoom” button is going away. If that makes it to the GM, I’m not going to upgrade. The ability to zoom a window has been one of the best features of the OS since Macintosh System 5. Full-screen mode is a nice bonus, but it’s completely different than simply clicking to make a window the appropriate size.

Put simply, there’s nothing in Yosemite that’s worth losing the zoom button.

Yeah, it still throws me off. I'm hoping there's a plist change to revert the usage of the button.

-clicking on a url in safari to edit it causes it to fly to the left. This means that if you had already positioned the mouse where you wanted to edit it, it's now far off to the right. It should either stay centered, or stay left aligned--either one is okay.

-the menu bar icons are just a tad too thin now. I bet they look great on retina laptops, but not on normal DPI screens.

-the shadows around windows look ridiculously huge, which has been an issue for several versions already.

edit: -the calculator app look is out of date, especially compared to the icon

I want two or three rows in safari, the redyellowgreen placement being more in the middle bothers me… And could they just do like the rest of the browsers and keep all the text urls etc on the left side and not everywhere?

I want Lucida Grande back as the system font. I don't care for Helvetica in that capacity. (Though Helvetica itself is a nice font.)

WOW, so many complaints.

No offence, but the funniest of them all was about those "boxes" around finder buttons. :D

These "boxes" are one of the main and most distinctive things of the Yosemite UI. How can one possibly think that they could be replaced?
Designers can add a frame to search bar to differentiate it, but that's pretty much all what could be possibly needed there actually. ;)

You guys should see the WWDC 2014 video, where they explain the UX/UI decisions.

It's called:
Adapting Your App to the New UI of OS X Yosemite

Boxes around the finder are distinctive? Lol

Your complaint is similiar to someone saying that he wants 3d icons back or that he wants Apple to disable all the blur and transparency, therefore it's absurd and not gonna happen. ;)

They not gonna redesign these buttons (or "boxes" how you call them) in all programs and dialogs. This is how the new design looks like, it's not some small glitch or whatever what needs to be fixed, that's a design Apple chose, and you bet it wasn't a spontaneous decision Lol.
