2005 Mac Mini, my first computer

The first Apple product I bought was the first Mac Mini. I wanted a computer that was transportable, but not a portable. It fitted my criteria. It looked the same as my second, this early 2009 (loaded with iWork) that replaced it when the HDD and the power supply packed up. The third was the small wired keyboard, also bought in 2009. Except the UPS, the other peripherals are the ones I bought with the original Mini.

Unless you count the upgrade to Mountain Lion, I have not bought an Apple product since then. I reckon it will be at least a couple or three years before I replace the Mini.

I'm gonna include a lot of different types of firsts in my Apple products.

First Apple product: iPod Touch 2nd Generation 8GB
Image

First Mac: Macintosh Performa 5200CD
Image

First Mac used as an everyday computer: Power Mac G5 dual 1.8GHz, 4GB RAM, OS X 10.5.8
Image

First Mac Portable: iBook G3 Clamshell Tangerine, base model (forgot specs), OS X 10.2
Image

First Intel Mac: MacBook Late 2008, 2GHz Core 2 Duo, 8GB RAM, 320GB HDD, OS X Mavericks (daily computer)

I've also had an iPod Photo 20GB, iPod Classic 30GB, iPod Touch 4th Generation 32GB, an iPhone 4 16GB, iPhone 5 32GB, and an eMac. I bought the iPod Touch 2nd Gen refurbished from Apple, and traded it plus some other random crap for the 4th gen. My uncle gave me the iPod Photo, and after working for 6 months the HDD crashed. I traded the eMac for the iPod Classic 30GB. Was given the Performa by a teacher who had it sitting at home unused, was given the eMac by my school since it was donated and was never gonna be used anyways (also a reward for no missing assignments for a semester :D), traded some random crap I had for the G5, traded a pair of Beats Tour (I think they were fakes) for the iBook. I traded my ThinkPad T500 2.26GHz C2D, 4GB RAM, 320GB HDD, Windows 7 Professional, for the MacBook. It came with base configuration of 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 10.5.8. I put the larger HDD in and 8GB RAM and put Mountain Lion on it, then upgraded to Mavericks when it was released. This was all within the past 4 years, I got the first iPod when I was in 7th grade, now I'm a sophomore in high school.

Off the top of my head I want to say the Tangerine iBook was 300MHz

My first purchase was either the original iPod shuffle or a used Sage G3 iMac. I was around 12 so I can't remember. I used to take apart old/broken computers and sell the parts on eBay and detail cars for money. My cousins were always baffled about how I was paying for these things! :D

Mine was an eMac which I got in 2005.

Up until then I had only used Windows computers so OS X was a completely new experience. My initial reaction was quite negative, I hated the menu bar at the top of the screen, and I found that a lot of my software didn't have an OS X version. I also hated the one click mouse and lack of delete key, and I could never tell which applications on the dock were actually open or closed. Over time I adjusted and found myself appreciating the stability of OS X. I also preferred the the Mac software because it was always simpler and easier to use than what I was using on Windows. In the end it was a decent machine and it ultimately encouraged me to buy more Apple products.

My first was a Mac Plus. I paid almost a thousand dollars to add another 1 meg to RAM. I still own a second generation iPad along with 5 or 6 others, a second 1st gen. iTouch, several Newtons, and a 1st gen Mac Pro Intel which Apple now calls "vintage." The most stable operating system I ever used was 6.07. The most dependable and fun to use Mac was the Mac Iici.

I don't have a picture but I had a silver iPod mini, 4GB?

Back in like 5th grade, thought I was the coolest kid around with the little white plastic piece holding it on my basketball shorts waistband lol
