They should call the new iPhone "George" ...
then the advertising slogan is of course "By George, I think they've got it."![]()
iPhone HD since it will be able to record and play back HD movies. You heard it here first
Apple could just change their mind and refer the "G" as generation instead of network speed. It doesn't make sense to make it network type considering that network type aren't going to change yearly along with iPhone which is following a yearly release schedule.
The 3GS will be an exception so that Apple will be retain consistency by calling the 4th generation iPhone as iPhone 4G.
1st: iPhone 2G
2nd: iPhone 3G
3rd: iPhone 3GS
4th: iPhone 4G
The problem with calling the next iPhone "HD" is that the naming consistency afterward. What will you call the one afterward? iPhone HD 2? At least 5G makes more sense than HD2.
Apple never started with the 2G, it was just iPhone. The sequel, iPhone 3G got the name because it supported the 3G networks. The 3GS was basically the sane except for the fact that it was faster and that's why it got the S. Now since AT&T and most of the other carriers don't have 4G ready then it won't make sense for them to call it 4G. I definitely believe something like iPhone HD or iPhone A4 (as mentioned here) or iPhone A+ (Steve did say it was going to be a A+ update) is more likely.
Yes, I know. I typed 2G by habit. You misunderstood what I was trying to say. I know 4G network isn't ready, my point is that Apple can just change their mind and keep the naming convention going. It doesn't make sense to restrict it to the networks because 5G won't be ready next year or anytime within the next decade. So what exactly is Apple going to do? Just name it by generations instead of cell network type.
A+? No way will Apple ever call it A+. That's corny, childish and just plain wrong. A4, I can understand since the SoC is called A4.
Why can't it be called 4G? (For generation or for the network) Because AT&T is rolling out their 4G network this year aren't they, so wouldn't it make sense for Apple to make the next iPhone 4G network capable? If not, then it would be really really bad timing for Apple because the 4G network is suppose to hit beginning of next year, and having to wait half a year to be on a faster network would look bad.
Apple can't keep calling the iPhone, iPhone 3GS x (x stands for whatever they add).
At this point I believe Apple will switch to iPhone X (where x stands for whatever they will symbolize). Reason is, people already know the iPhone is 3G, so no need to keep on using that moniker.
I doubt 4G because there are no 4G networks. I even doubt 4G (as in 4th Gen) because Apple simply calls the 1st Gen iPhone, iPhone.
Exactly what I'm saying. It has to be one of 3 choices:
1) iPhone ManBearPig
2) iPhone Skip n' Go Naked
3) iPhone iPad Makes Me Giggle
There fixed it for you
