I will buy a Starbucks drink and maybe $40 worth of gas.

I will however look at the new releases since it will give me an idea what I might get as my senior year gift.

True, if you have enough $$$, then you can buy just about anything.

pretty much, except for happiness :p then again, a new PowerBook/Mac is happiness, so...

Besides my Dr. Pepper, I hope to buy either the updated 12" powerbook or settle for the 12" IBook.

don't "settle" for an iBook; wait 'till january (if you cant). apple won't have much else to release at MacWorld San Francisco...that's what i'm going to do.

with regards to the thread, i'm hoping to buy a new ipod (if they're in) or a new nano...my mac store opens tomarrow after renovations, but i'm not sure if i'll actually have time to get down there or not before wednesday....i'll probably get some gas too.

17" Powerbook. If no update, then the Dell Inspiron 9300 or Sony A series, both are... :( .

I need a notebook for college but I'm tired of waiting.

Go with the iBook to hold you up for now.
You'll never regret it.

When were the Inspiron 9300 and A series last updated?

To anyone thinking about buying a Mac - if your decision to buy a Windows machine vs. an OS X machine weighs heavily on whether you have to wait for an updated OS X machine... maybe you need to reevaluate the reason for getting the OS X machine in the first place.

Maybe the model is not update but better selection of components are available. ie...256MB NVIDA GeForce Go 6800.

If no one wins the 300 million power ball lottery this weekend - I'll probably buy a ticket on Wednesday for the next drawing.....and when I win, then money won't be an object, it will be lots of them :D

but ill probably buy a bottle of coke zero.

I'm going to get a 1D Mk II N and a 24-70 2.8L to upgrade my aging Olympus E-20. Depending on the upgrade for Powerbooks I might go with a 20D, 16-35 2.8L, Pbook and a DVX100 for filming.

i guess my 'money is no object' phrase was taken a little too far... ;)

seriously though, if apple releases new pb's on wednesday, i am buying a fully loaded, balls to the wall, maxed out 17" powerbook so i don't have to upgrade for a long time. i sold my 15" combo pb and i'm using my gf's 12" superdrive pb...i can't hold onto it much longer though as she is constantly bugging me to give it back. :D

cmon apple, show me what you got. cash is in hand!

If the new powerbooks have decent improvements in speed and graphics, then I'll be sorely tempted to buy a maxed out 15". I've got a Rev. A 15" aluminum right now (two years down and not a touch of trouble) and I'm thinking about getting the last PowerPC PowerBook so that I won't have to worry about getting a Rev. A Mactel PowerBook next year. I'd rather wait for all the programs I use to make the switch, get a couple of months of field testing under their belts, and come back with new versions that fix all the mistakes they made before I make the transition. If Apple is dedicated to dragging its feet on the PowerPC transition until 2007 with its own hardware then the software should be lagging at least until 2008. That means that if I lay down my cash on the final PPC PowerBook, I shouldn't have to worry about anything until 07-08. Of course, as soon as the Rev. B Mactel PowerBooks hit the street, I'll be getting a new laptop again and a full assortment of Mactel apps... Why fight it. If I can by some miracle keep from getting a new PowerBook next week I might be able to stick it out until the Mactels arrive next summer. Doubtful though.

I bet the next PB update/revamp sees the modem dropped in favour of the USB one...just like the iMac. Ok, this may not be until intel inside, but its a waste of space for most of us these days with wireless and broadband.
