Landscape home screen and Settings.app
Many people would not want this [to be done automatically via accelerometer]. It'd cause lots of unintentional rotations when you're just sitting/lying, carrying your phone in hand when not looking at it, etc. Which in turn would force you to turn on Rotation lock way more often than when lying in bed.

Remove newsstand

Disable iMessage on certain contacts, or choose whether or not you want to send an iMessage to that particular contact (instead of waiting for the iMessage to fail)

Larger split keyboard. It is too small on the iPad.

Really should be able to customize keyboard layout. In the case of holding an iPad you might need to make a layout for your thumbs that fits the range of motion of your thumbs more efficiently.

Ability to Subscribe to podcasts through Music app interface.

Ability to take apps out of the gesture switching app loop/progression.

3 finger page backward/forward gesture in Safari. Full page view in Safari.

When texting in iMessage on the the iPad automagically text folks who are not ios/iMessage users by using correct service provider texting email addresses.

You can send those things via MMS already I think. Or maybe it's just iMessage.

I think they mean the Camera icon in Messages should be a general button with options to attach a contact, location etc. Because right now if you want to send a contact you have to go to the Phone or Contacts app, find the person, then send it from there. Or you have to go to the Maps app to send a location. Etc.

You'll notice that most of my gripes deal with the Notification Center, which in my opinion was a poor first attempt by Apple. What I'd like to see changed:

- The ability to delete notifications from the lock screen

- The ability to mark emails & iMessages read from the lock screen

- The ability to select which calendars to show on the Notification Center, and the time window of events to show

- Notification Center needs to clear itself of items already checked in their corresponding apps. If I check off a Reminder or read an iMessage, I shouldn't have to manually clear it from the Center

-Some kind of icon in the taskbar that lets you know if you still have unseen events in the Notification Center. As Ben Brooks correctly pointed out on his blog, if I forget to pull down the "shade", how do I know that things are still there?

- Key photos for projects in Aperture do not seem to transfer across to iOS devices. This worked in iOS 4.

I would like scrolling text in notifications when the message is too long! Many MMS and emails can be fully read if it just scrolled the text!

FaceTime over 3G
Delete notifications off lock screen
Have notification stay on lock screen longer
Have Facebook integrated into the iOS 5 like twitter
Have locations on Reminders on the iPad
Be able to put Folders into Folder (Folder inception, get rid of newsstand)
Not having to plug into power source and still sync over wifi

Remember on ios4 you could go into settings and have a list of every app and turn On/Off locations? I want a menu like that but it turns On/Off an App Lock, so that apps turned "On" all require a set password to open. Justsayin

I want to be able to turn off all notifications with one button like in iOS 4. I used to do that at night when I didn't want any notifications but still wanted to hear calls

I like everything stated.

How about a "SBSettings" type integration into the settings somewhere. I practically only jailbreak my phone if/when I do to use SBSettings. I love that program.

I know it may imply that the phone has failed in a way because its sole purpose is to kill apps all together, but its useful and I am OCD about apps running in background. I usually respring my phone after every use just to clean the apps haha.

Lots of good ideas. This hasn't been mentioned yet and I think would be useful:

* Picking Reminder "geofence" location from a map view in addition to contacts

#1) Weather and Calendar Apts on the LOCK SCREEN!!! (They are on the notification centre - so why can't they be on the lock screen too?? I HATE having to go through so many steps to see the current weather or today's appointments, when with Lock Info I could just turn the screen on and there they were!!! Simple...

#2) Ability to hide / remove apps I don't want like Stocks and News Stand - So annoying having to have a 'Junk' folder ---- which I also can not hide!!

#3) Please suck it up Apple, and get Flash already!

----

p.s. - those first 2 annoyances will not remain for long as I plan to JB again as soon as untethered is released and Lock Info is updated.

Now that wireless syncing is possible, I'd like to see some super easy manual option to send music to my iPhone from iTunes. For example, right click song and choose 'Send to my iPhone'.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A334 Safari/7534.48.3)

I'd like the ability to pick from map the location in Reminders.

Other than that, the general mass of requests also applies to me.

And also I'd like niqqud (diacritical marks) in the Hebrew keyboard. Would make typing in Hebrew actually a real possibility for me.

Have you tried tapping the contacts button on the in call screen? That gives you access to your address book.

Old image but its there in the bottom right.

You know, since I got the first iPhone, I've NEVER used that Contacts button in a call. The rare times I need to look up a number while in a call, I've hit the Home button and gone to the Contacts app. I can join the masses in not seeing the point of a Contacts app on the iPhone, then! :p

Thanks for showing me the error of my ways while being polite. That's very refreshing to see.

ability to subscribe to a podcast on your phone, so you don't need a computer - like you're SUPPOSED to not have to have a computer.

They tout this new OS as a computer-free solution, but it's not. I want to be able to have my new podcast downloaded over Wifi when i'm connected to it, automatically.

The ability to move more than one icon at a time (seriously, how hard is this?)

The ability to close out all apps running in the background at once.
