I want to see a new look for iOS especially for the iPad. That look has been the same since the original iPhone came out. :|

1. Option to keep camera icon on lock screen
2. Option to have iPhone automatically turn on wifi when charging and automatically turn off wifi when not charging
- I keep my wifi off to preserve battery and sometimes I forget to turn wifi on when I plug in to charge, so my phone does not sync with iTunes or back up to iCloud. Maybe I'm really lazy, but I think it would be a cool feature and make everything that much more seamless.
3. Ability to delete photos in Photo Stream
4. Ability to delete Newsstand

BUG FIXES AND PERFORMANCE INCREASES

i don't care about new features right now, just fix the damn bugs.

i agree, the Settings.app is a mess. it's not intuitive at all, not to mention a pain in the ass to use for togling off wifi or bluetooth.

Option to have Notification Center automatically appear when waking phone up or pressing Home button.

----------

1) I use Spotlight on a daily basis. HOwever, you can disable Spotlight with a JB app.
2) I think you can toggle The setting in "Notifcations" to not have Calender displayed in the Notification Center, yes?
3) SBSetting; Jailbreak required
4) I concur. Or use LockInfo or Intelliscreen when Jailbreak is available.
#2 - sweet, I did not know that.

I forgot one BIGGIE - the ability to kill all running apps at once. I had this set in the jailbreak activator for a double tap to the top menubar to kill all apps.

have a notification at the top of the screen maybe next to battery icon when you have notifications in the notification center. right now no one knows and its a guessing game. i think someone mentioned this already, but that should be a top priority of a feature.

just a few things i thought of:

1. this might seem too blackberry like for them, but maybe separate the iMessage contacts from non-iMessage contacts. this might also allow them add an option to update a "status". that way if someone is away from the phone or whatever, people know not to send a message.

2. i havent been able to try this out yet, but thought i read on here iMessages cant have a custom tone...that should definitely be added. so people can have two different tones, one for texts..another for iMessages.

i'm sure theres more i'll think about as the weeks go by, but loving some of what has been mentioned in this thread.

I'd like to see more live widgets for the notification center. Including one that handles major functions found in the Settings app like TC suggested.

Manual 3G/Edge selection

Automatically return the headphone jack to a pre-set level if you've unplugged it. I have trouble getting my hearing blown out too often.

Allow me to add a contact from a text message.

I also cannot believe we still doesn't have information displayed on lock screen. Or please put it in the option where we could enable it. it's not so 'smartphone' feature.

Yes.. i know, intelliscreen is there IF you JB your phone, but that plain weird.

2. Siri. i simply don't believe that siri require A5 chip.
3. custom SMS sound and alarm.. << it's actually enabled now :D
4. ability to turn on/off bluetooth and wifi in a simpler way.
5. separate SMS and iMessage
6. Ability to schedule a profile (eg. turn on wifi at work, or lower ringtone level at home)
7. ....

and lastly, i know this is off the iOS topic, but please let us merge AppleIDs.
I have an AppleID that I use for buying apps and everything else..

and I have another one that we "get" when we still have the mobileme. which you use for sync contacts etc.

Now, they've made it free (which is great) BUT, the apps sync, song sync is simply doesnt work.. coz everything else was bought under the other AppleID.

I've googled and theres quite a lot of people complaining about this as well :(

I want Siri to just work at least 75% of the time, not the 30% I'm currently achieving.

Fix for the battery life problems, like im getting.

I thought it was just me. I know batteries need to be "worked in", but my battery life is currently horrid. I have never experienced this poor battery life with my previous new iPhones.

* Picking Reminder "geofence" location from a map view in addition to contacts
This. I'm baffled that they haven't allowed you to manually select a location for the geofence by dropping a pin on the map. Until they do I'll stick with Locationizer.

An ability to mark apps, and then an option what to do:

delete, move, lock, Etc.

The ability to rename Apps and Music, Videos and everything purchasable.

And maybe merge Notifications with SbSettings, and a tab you can select saying either SB Settings or Notifications or just make the SBSettings features small.

- an icon in the menu bar to tell me when there are new notifications
- ability to highlight words and use a dictionary within a pdf document in ibooks
- ability to delete pics from photostream
- ability to upload files from safari (incredible that we still don't have this!)
- better youtube app with subtitles support
- facetime on 3g and with a better integration with the address book (like viber does)
-ability to open an mp3 file in the music app, like you do with a pdf/epub in ibooks. how long do we have to wait for this? pc free? mmm
mmm...still so much to do....

1 button toggle to turn on/off wifi (app icon like)
Ability to turn off 3G

and drum roll please...

Give me the option to alert myself if I missed a phone call! WTF even Zach Morris and every other phone is able to do this. Checking my phone every 5 minutes gets old to make sure I didn't miss an important call. I don't give a flaming rats behind if I miss a txt message. Really Apple, txt's are more important than phone calls in a corp environment?

I live in a US Cellular area and I have to toggle airplane mode to get a 3G connection. Verizon has a 3G roaming agreement with them, I have had to do this since day 1...

Two things that have not been mentioned (I am using an iPad):

  • Revive the ghost of InternetConfig: if I click on a link in, say, Wikipanion, I want it to open in my favorite browser (e.g., Atomic) instead of Safari. Let me select default apps, even, say, so far as to have a link to BBCNews open in the app instead of a web page (app switching gestures facilitate the convenience of this).
  • Make folders more aesthetically appealing. I like the image on my home screen an dislike having folder views split it in half. A bubble menu effect similar to what you get with Mac OS docked folders, overlaying the screen, would be good. And close the folder as soon as the app opens.

I REALLY want to see access to the dictionary.

something like type Define awesome in spotlight, and it popped up with the definition.

i just keep trying that on accident, and it's a really good idea too. :)

about notifications, if i'm on Facebook on ym computer, a foot from my unused iPhone, i want Apple to somehow know that i'm responding back, and to stop notifying me on my iPhone

What I've always wanted in iOS

1. Ability to password protect / restrict access to any app
2. Built in mechanism for trial periods or guaranteed money back period (even only 1 hour) in App store.

That's it.

They should take the gesture cue from the Sleipnir browser: swipe downward on an icon to kill the process, or at least make that an option.

iOS 5.X

I think that iOS 5 is great and I use notifications all the time. There is a few however that I would like. The most important is that it botheres me that you have to use a phone number or email adress when using iMessage. I think that each apple ID should get a unique code to contact others like 236574. Or including letters like BBM. Although it will be the same as BBM it wouldn't run on servers like BBM but rather: wifi/3G/edge without paying a subscription to use the servers on BBM. I think that will revolutionize the IM for apple devices. This will however require a separate app for iMessage. Please respond on your ideas similar to mine :)
