All caught up on the new show "The Alienist" on TNT. We are really digging it and there is a lot going on with it. It is a slow build of a show and we are starting to get a feel for who "might" be the person doing the killings.

I am digging it a lot.

Holy smokes, anyone else watching The Terror? (AMC) It's spectacular, beautifully shot, actors at the top of their game - incredible atmosphere, spooky, horrific, terrifying.

Heard about it yesterday for the very first time - friends were raving about it! Cancelled my Prime membership lately but that show sounded tempting.

Don't think I can watch AMC around these parts of the world that easily :D In fact, I have no idea what AMC is or stands for. (Well, it's a tv channel obviously, and A probably stands for America.. ;))

Anyway, watched the first two episodes and am indeed totally hooked!

My apologies, I knew your were in the UK (?) or Europe. AMC stands for American Movie Classics, but also have original programming TV series. They done a bunch of series, like Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, The Killing, Mad Men, Preacher. I found this: http://uk.amc.com/. Am I warm? ;)

Tepid. ;)

Anyway, give The Terror a chance if you can. I agree with DT that it's awesome.

I watched the first two episodes and it’s good enough to continue. I like the cast, an ensemble of well known UK actors, I’ve enjoyed over the years. An interesting historical note, is that the two ships were real, participated in an Artic expedition, and one of the two ships is called the HMS Terror.

I have to finish the series. There is a monster, which anyone who has seen a preview would be aware. My critique is that while I have no problem with the fictional aspects of the story, for the based on true events description, it would have been nice if there actually was an Inuit legend tied to this ship and the fate of the crew. :)

Maybe considered spoilers:

I'm catching up on my episodes of The Terror (AMC). It's not great but is holding my interest.
Hmm, people in the other TV thread, the binge one I think, are raving about that show. I've not watched it, but I think my wife is storing it on the DVR.

It could just be me. I like the actors and the story, the natives (Inuits) are involved in...

whatever is stalking the two marooned ships, although I don’t know if they are controlling it or trying to control it, telling it to kill, or trying to stop it from killing.

If I understand it correctly they have been marooned for 2 years, and it’s hard to project this period of time to the viewer and what I’d think would be mounting desperation about running out of food on top of a monster stalking the ship, which I’m really not seeing.

True - I was among the raving 'binge-crew'. Capt @Huntn please explain yourself!

It’s an excellent production, but I have a limited tolerance for extended oppressive atmospheres. It’s watcheable and I’m watching, but we’ve spent a lot of time stranded, so I’d like to move the narrative along. For myself this might have been better told as a 5 parter mini-series.

Edit: Just washed episode 6, thumbs up. :)
