Just finished the second season of Shrinking on Apple TV. Really good show about the power of relationships and community. Life is hard and you need family and friends to get through it.
I'll check this out a comedy? I am waiting for the next season of For All Mankind to resubscribe, and will also watch The Silo cause of the good reports...

I think the modern genre they would put this in is maybe dramedy? It is mostly a comedy, but it seems most comedies today are both comedy and tragedy rolled into one.

We’ve been continuing to watch Everyone Loves Raymond, and this show is simply brilliant. Watching the episode were a girl at a bar mistakes Robert (the cop) for Raymond (the sports writer), Robert goes with it, and when Raymond finds out, he lives vicariously though Robert. Then it all falls apart when the girl friend shows up at Raymond’s house to meet his wife and mother. 😄

Adolescence (2025 Netflix)- Hard core psychological study set in the UK regarding a murder of a young teen. There’s really zero action, an arrest, investigation, psychological profile, and aftermath, all highly detailed. For example the entire first hour episode is the arrest and the booking. It can feel riveting yet there’s no satisfaction, or resolution. It’s great and horrible simultaneously. It’s about kids today, the power of social media, how it magnifies conflict, how elements have developed as a second language, parents, society, and the system. From it, you might be bored out of your mind, reflect on the state, failures of human society, or glean some insight into the human condition. Excellent, great acting, but I would not want to watch it again.

I can say that actors in the UK are type cast as real people, as in you could swear you’re observing a real family, people and their interactions.

This series has received amazing reviews in the British media.

I got a wild hair, I love Station Eleven so much, I ordered a 4k UHD BluRay disk set for $25. I probably overpaid, but it was on sale, instead of $40. When I started it, the picture was fuzzy as almost a lower resolution. Now this may have been to thevway it was filmed, or thevway it was converted. But when buying a 4k disc, Inexpect to be wowed by the image. The regular streaming images on our 4ktv look significantly better. I tried a different disk, same. So I returned it. I’m due to subscribe to Max in the near future and will watch it then.

We just started Dark Winds (2022-) an AMC show that the first 2 seasons can be found on Netflix. So far so good, two Native American police officers on a Navajo Reservation investigate a mysterious crime. There are some supernatural elements, so far not overwhelmingly so.

The problem might be Season 3 just finished up on AMC. Our Sling TV subscription includes AMC, but to stream I might have to pay for a month of AMC plus and havenot looked into that yet.

The end of Season 2 was my kind of ending!

Onto AMC via SlingTV, AMC is one of the channels it carries! I just learned that via SlingTV you can stream the current season shows playing on AMC. 👍🏻 Unfortunately, there’s commercials. 👎🏻

Mobland (Paramont+ 2025)-
Ok in another thread, I bad mouthed Guy Ritchie, for what is a dood reason, I don’t like his style and it seems like the same for Fountain of Youth, where in a review he was described as a director who does not know how to direct actors.

…That said, we started Mobland, a UK based mobster story on Paramont+ with Tom Hardy, Mirren, and Pierce Brosnan, and two episodes in, we are pleased with it. :) Tom Hardy’s character basically as a fixer, under immense pressure putting out fires while he faces divorce, but does not seem phased when his family is in jeopardy. 😐

Subscribed to Max for 2 months to catch up. The Last of US Season 2 , The Guilded Age Season 2 are on the list. Any suggestions? :)

I can’t resist, I am compelled to re-start Station Eleven for a third watch. Have you ever been mesmerized by a story? This is post- apocalyptic, but unlike The Walking Dead, this focuses on the positive aspect of humanity, not the dog eat dog aspect. It’s so good. Cinematic art..

I've started watching Mr. Robot. I'd known of it for a while, but never bothered to watch it until now (mainly because I was considering canceling Netflix, and I wanted to see if there was anything else worth watching). I've only seen the pilot so far, but I enjoyed it. I'm in the mood for a good techno-thriller (even if some of the tech references show their age). It's dark, it's cynical, and I think it's going to be fun.
