Rome (HBO 2005-07) Third watch. I rank this among the best TV series ever made (I have seen 😉). Two seasons. The Season 1 Final, Kalends of February is a killer. It’s a shame it was cancelled prematurely and Ray Stevenson died prematurely, recently. 😢 HBO said way back when, it cost too much to produce in Italy, my understanding in the studio where Cleopatra (1963) was filmed. 🙁

How a Jewish family saved Thomas Jefferson’s home, excellent documentary. I visited Monticello several times as a child and a young adult and never had a clue the Levis owned Monticello for much longer than Jefferson, and saved the estate. Antisemitism is a blight that illustrates how religious belief can be/is a wedge that separates us from one another. 😔 Seen on Prime Video.

My wife has been watching Frasier (93-04) reruns. I loved this show as an ensemble, but I caught one episode recently and was reminded of how much of a train wreck Frasier’s love life was, those parts of the show were more painful than funny. 🤔 I’ve not caught the reboot on Paramount + (I think).

Just finished up Evil (Paramount +), flawed, but worthy.
To watch the 4th season of Umbrella Academy (Netflix) decided to start at the beginning. I forgot how good season 1 is.

Fraiser (2023- )- We‘re working through Season 1 of the Fraiser reboot. It’s surprisingly good. :)
My question is, it’s been so long since I’ve watched network TV, is this on network TV and have network TV seasons been reduced to just 10 episodes?

Does anyone like Skelaton Crew 2024, the new kids oriented Star Wars Adventure? I started this, got about half way through the first episode and decided that I did not need to watch a Disneyfied Starwars story.

We've been binging the Big Bang Theory. The Dungeons and Dragons episodes just hurt. Also, we'd forgotten how much the humor relies on stereotypes, fat shaming, etc.

Best movie/series of all of them. Just wish there were more.
Think about it, this is what Capitalists frequently give us, a lazy soul killing scheme to make profits. The artists, the philosophers, the poets, the imagineers must be in charge to get decent stories, not “let’s shake up this old story they liked before into a new variation, but tell them it’s the next chapter, Yea”! 😤

American Primeval (2025)- Excellent portrayal of the bloody time in Utah’s history, Mormons and the 1857 Mountain Meadows Massacre, the US Army, Fort Bridger, the Shoshone, and Paiute Indians, during the Utah War. I have an abundance of sympathy and admiration for the Native Americans.

I think you meant Mormons. This looks like very interesting history that many may not be aware of (myself included). Indigenous people suffered greatly during the expansion of the American west. Will look for it.

Yes, that was a missed typo, corrected. This could be on the LDS do not watch list. ;) The single most interesting part of this story is the Mormon couple heading west to Utah, the wife transforms.

Every so often great writing has been displayed in sitcoms along with a tremendous cast. We’ve been watching Everyone Loves Raymond on Paramont Plus. They, the writers and cast, make it look so easy to be funny. There're 3 other comedies who achieved this, that I can think of off the top of my head, Cheers, Sienfeld, and Fraiser. BTW, the Fraiser reboot was cancelled. It was enjoyable but lacked the dynamics of the original.

And each of these has that one episode that everyone remembers.

For ELR, it was the one where his mom wanted to be a sculptor.
For Seinfeld, it has to be Master of My Domain (although Marble Rye and Spongeworthy are close seconds)
For Fraiser, it is Ski Lodge, and
For Cheers, it is Pick a Con, Any Con.

Vikings (2013-2020) Watching on Netflix, but this may have been a History Channel show. Six seasons, just finished season 1. Good story so far about Ragnarok Lothbrok, a Viking who is credited with invading the land across the Great Sea, England.

I did not know that Vikings made human sacrifices to their Gods. Ok, it’s possible that I might have known, but forgot. 🤔 They had orgies too. 😁

Vikings- Second Season portrays amongst the most gruesome of torture executions I’ve witnessed in a story without really seeing the gore. It’s the same feeling I had watching Mel Gibson being disemboweled in Brave Heart.

The story is good, and not predictable. Mild spoiler, an interesting character is an English monk, abducted by Vikings, converts to Paganism, and is recaptured by the English to become overseer of an English King’s secret Pagan memorabilia and art collection…so far.

I am reminded, everyone’s name in England is “Æthel-" something. It’s a prefix that means noble… 😊

Just finished the second season of Shrinking on Apple TV. Really good show about the power of relationships and community. Life is hard and you need family and friends to get through it.
