Watched a couple of black and white Andy Griffith Show (1960-68) episodes on Amazon Prime. This was one of my most favorite shows growing up. Many iconic characters on this show, but Don Knotts was my favorite. Life on TV was simpler back then. ;)

I’m not sure at what point in the 50-60s that TV producers decided fake audience laugh tracks would be the norm on TV comedies.

Just remove those laugh tracks and viewers will find out just about how unfunny most of those comedy's are.

Watched the first episode of "Hollywood" on Netflix. I will probably watch the rest. It was amusing and entertaining. Definitely for adults, so be warned!

Watched all of the new series "Upload" on Prime yesterday, and there's some pretty funny stuff in there. Really enjoyed it. I'll add it to the short list of series I've completely enjoyed in the last few months: Russian Doll, Fleabag, and Tales from the Loop.

Given your list of other likes includes the superlative: Russian Doll, Fleabag, and Tales from the Loop, Upload seems pretty compelling! Plus I see it was renewed for season 2 a couple of days ago.

It was renewed? Yah, hooray. Happy to hear that, thanks.

Have you watched any?
Yes, it's a old trick of Hollywood, it's done when a producer or director does not think the show is funny and uses a laugh track manipulate the viewers to believe the program is funny when it's not.

Devs [on Hulu].

Goddam, it's so good, and yes, I'm a bit of an Alex Garland fanboy.

If I may quote from Wiki:

The series is centered on Lily Chan (Sonoya Mizuno), a software engineer for Amaya, a quantum computing company run by Forest (Nick Offerman). Lily soon becomes embroiled in the mysterious death of her boyfriend on the first day of his new job at Devs. The series explores themes related to free will and determinism, as well as Silicon Valley culture.

Just started Berlin Station on a free Epix trial. Funny to see Rhys Ifans in a spy thriller, but hey why not. Although I try to stay current with new spy series/movies, recommendations are welcome.

I started 2 shows:

White Lines(2020-)- Netflix. Excellent start to this story about an English woman searching to discover what happened to her brother amongst drug dealers, vice, and a prominent crooked family on the Island of Ibeza. Nice scenery, lots of story potential here. :)

Space Force (2020-) Netflix. Comedy Centered on a new branch of the US Armed Forces, Space Force and the general tasked with running it. Some moments are spent lampooning the Trump Administration. You might laugh if you are not a Trump supporter. :)

White Lines looks good; thanks for the recommendation. I watched a little of Space Force but kept letting myself get distracted by other stuff. May be worth another try.

Ok, re-watched episode 1, and then 2,3 and 4. Very funny, although they still haven’t explained why the wife is in prison.

Just realized it wasn't Space Force, but Avenue 5 with Hugh Laurie. Just resubscribed to Netflix so will check out Space Force. The previews looks really good.

Well, so just watched episode 1 of White Lines and will keeping watching. Well done. Love the version of "Creep".

I watched The Last Days of American Crime, a horrible movie, not worth watching in my opinion. Netflix bombed with this one.

Space Force (2020)- Netflix, 77% RTAS. Just finished season one, parts are funny, others flat, silly, minimal if any realism, partly because it’s a comedy, and not a brilliant comedy. Some people will not like this because of it’s political bent. Wife and I enjoyed it because of the characters. :)

Money Heist (2017-) 81% RTAS. On the heals of White Lines, by the same creator Alex Pina, started this, Season 1 Episode 1. The caper is to rob Spain’s National Mint of $300B Euros. So far so good. Note, it is in Spanish, but a good dubbing job in English.
