I don't know how anyone likes Breaking Bad. I've tried to watch that show 5 times, and each time I thought it was bad

It’s a fantastic show. I’m not alone in my opinion. #1 on IMDB, dozens of lists, critical acclaim from critics and it just took another Emmy (with 58 total nominations over the life of the show) for best show, adding to best actor, actress, supporting actor and writing.

Aren’t you the “bacon is overrated” person?

Your opinions on TV and breakfast foods are shameful ... :D

I tried too and it was too dark for me.

Hahaha, I was kidding with the post above, but clearly there’s a border you have to cross with shows like BB, True Detective (movies like Seven, 8mm, etc.) that’s pretty dark.

My wife and I really dig on that kind of material, even though we’re super happy, positive people who just like to do a little yoga, surf and have the occasional cookout.

:D

I ditched cable last year. Between ROKU and HULU my needs are met ideally. I make a deliberate effort to limit my viewing time anyway. I'm super active outdoors and in the gym, the benefits are wonderful.

Breaking Bad was good. But honestly, there aren’t many shows out there other than shows like you see on the ID channel, and shows like Ghost Adventures and Paranormal Witness and The Haunting, and others like Gangland and Lock Up that I like to watch. I think since the X-Files went off, which is my all time favortie show, the quality of the TV has just went to ****. So many stupid reality shows about being naked and getting married… awful.

I loved the X-files, Breaking Bad and the Sopranos. Also love Ghost Adventures.

Now that Breaking Bad, the Office and 30 Rock are done, all I have left that I like are Cops, Ghost Adventures and Parks and Recreation.

I've also just started watching the last season of 24 which ended last month I think.

This week I did buy all the seasons of the Office and 30Rock since they were $9.99 each HD season. Sure I could watch them on Netflix but I think the iTunes quality is much better using my downloaded copies.

I work nights so it's hard to keep track of whats on TV these days. Everything that I have seen, I've bought on iTunes.

Breaking Bad is hands down probably the best TV show I've ever seen. The level of continuous, intense, drama throughout the series was unparalleled. It's what made you come back each week, waiting to see how it keeps going.

Breaking Bad killed it last night at the Emmys last night - a well deserved send off to a fantastic show.

I remember he is a teacher, he's sick, his well to do friend tries to help him but instead he chooses to become a drug dealer? For this particular story I was just not in the mood to watch this guy unravel. :) There are other dark stories I watch less of than I used to. But on occasion I partake. Lol, I also passed on TD too. :)

I very much enjoyed that series. That's going to be my next "treadmill" series when I'm done rewatching Game of Thrones. I like to rewatch series during runs.

lol that's what my friend calls it, too. I got the idea from him to go back to previous shows while doing cardio.

It was a great show. Probably one of the best in TV history. And in many ways (but not all) surpassing The Sopranos.

I loved watching it (I think I started an ongoing thread to discuss the last season..)

But I must admit I haven't felt the need to go back and rewatch too many of the old episodes. Which is unusual for me: I don't know how many times I've watched Godfather II or The Day of The Jackal But with BB trying to figure out how the story was going to catch up to the flash-forwards that punctuated each season. Once you know where that eyeball floating in the White's swimming pool came from...

I'll be curious to know how Breaking Bad does in syndicated re-runs, say five or ten years from now. I wonder how it will hold up, capturing a new audience among people who may have been too young to watch it in its first run.

Just finished watching the last episode of Tyrant. Howard Gordon, it's no 24 or Homeland. :( Also finished up season 1 of The Sopranos too.

Still entertaining but not as insightful as expected.

And still can't understand how Breaking Bad isn't on top 10 at least. :D Most awesome show along with The Wire and The Sopranos and Louie.

Most of the shows I'm watching are average. Currently I place Game of Thrones and Masters of Sex at the top for outstanding everything. :)

MoS is not a thriller, but it's got outstanding writing, acting, personalities and interpersonal relationships, not to mention nudity. ;) It's like taking a trip back to the 50s with its exploration of sexual social standards and is exploring race relations. This example of the most splendid writing and acting makes something like The Last Ship look like an embarrassment to the writers guild in comparison.

With its atmosphere, Extant seems like an opportunity lost. Still waiting for it to take off.

I've never used netflix or any of the streaming options; I've always waited for the dvd releases. I think that now might be a good time to switch; there are too many shows that I would like to watch. Feeling overwhelmed...

Well I like bacon, I'm just not a huge fanatic about it (as are a lot of people I meet and know)

As for breaking bad, I really tried to get into it, but I just couldn't. It's a shame since Bryan Cranston is a really really good actor.

Its OK to have "meh" feelings about both bacon and Breaking Bad.

I just finished binge-watching the Netflix series/BBC import Happy Valley.

This is somewhat of a departure from your typical Brit crime drama. Most notably for the fact that its main character is a somewhat dowdy middle-aged woman, a Sergeant in the Yorkshire police.

The story involves the kidnapping of a young woman, the daughter of a local businessman. The story itself is alright, although I found the villains a little too stereotypically wicked, and the heroine a little too stereotypically brave/wise/etc.

Of most interest to US viewers would be its reasonably accurate portrayal of the fundamentally different way in which British cops go about doing their job. You do not see a single gun. The only other caveat I'd have for US viewers is that the Yorkshire accents can sometimes be somewhat difficult to understand.
