I haven't gotten into this show "yet!", but I was referring to suits.

Yeah I am with on this one. I was able to see her up and pretty close at the San Diego Comic Con! :D:D:D
Finished season 5 of Suits last week. Not sure where they are going to go with it in Season 6! Going to change the dynamic big time.

The American Experience: Bonnie and Clyde on PBS- The story of the 1930s outlaw couple from Texas born in poverty. What impressed me is how historically accurate the 1967 movie was. The setup for the ambush that killed them was accurate although it was another hoodlim's parents (not C.W.Moss) who sought to get their son a pardon in return for Bonnie and Clyde's deaths.

American Experience: The Mine Wars- on PBS, the history of oppressed mine workers in 1910-25 West Virginia, black and white, where Mine owners could murder discontent workers at will, who were forced to pay high prices at the company store, where the Gov of W.Va. (sympathetic to the owners) thought the conflict was between the owners and workers and initially refused to intervene. Where the workers finally armed themselves and fought back. A good education about why unions exist and the tactic of welfare capitalism as adopted by mine owners to fight unionism along with yellow dog contracts, where employees were forced to sign contracts promising not to join the union. :)

I had no idea of this history.

Well, I find it odd that the Mine Wars have remained such "well kept secret," considering the fact that I've tried my damndest to educated you folks @ MacRumors on the W.Va. Mine Wars over the years...

I've mentioned them several times, in various PRSI threads @ MacRumors, describing some of the highlights of the conflicts such as the authorities' use of airplanes to drop makeshift bombs on the miners, etc. and I have even posted some of the pics that were used in the PBS feature of the 12-16 yr. old boys who worked underground in the mines in threads here.

Maybe I should have written all those post using a really big Times Roman font... Dunno...

PRSI would likely be the keyword in all of that.

I knew there was conflict, but not this detail, and suffer from a short memory, no need to be offended. :p What is shocking is condoned murder coming from what represented the decfacto law (the owners hired thugs) with local law officials and the governor looking the other way. :(

One of the things you learn as a teacher is that repetition, repetition and repetition always works.

Rejoice when they do show an interest in what you have written, instead of exasperation that they failed to bite the first few times you posted.

And, to be candid, Americans ignorant of their own history is something I have come to realise is almost a default setting……..

To be fair, I'm not sure that all or even most people of other countries necessarily know the ins and outs or even about various obscure localized/regional historical events.

I agree with you, and that was why I took issue with the somewhat tetchy tone of @localoid's post.

If you wish to share something that excites you with others, put it in a post. And, - as it happens - you might need to do so again and again…..

I've watched 4 episodes. It's an interesting comedic drama, 4 school friends go on a vacation to visit their successful school buddy at his Belize estate and suddenly find themselves in over their heads (drug money, corrupt cops, murder). My critique is way to much analysis of their relationships and not enough pushing the story ahead. This aspect of the story drags and it happens often, as in I got it back in episodes 2-3 that you guys as friends have issues with each other, now stop talking about it and take care of business. :) I'll finish it. It's labeled as Season 1, which I question. This current story line seems like it must finish one way or the other, hopefully by the end of this season. It's possible it could continue in another form, I guess.

Don't ask what this is about, lol.

What started as intriquing, 4 guys go to Bekieze on vacation to visit their financially successful friend, who is involved in, not sure exactly, corruption and criminals, dissolved into way too much touchy-freely, men examining their relationships, getting in touch with their inner selves to such an extent it interfered with story progression. A small pox outbreak and quarunteen, and stopping by a stranger's house to help them fix dinner while on the run, too much filler. Stopped watching at episode 6.

As having watched only a couple of episodes, years ago, was there any reference made in the show as to why it, a medical show about doctors, nurses, and hospitals would be named after a book of human anatomy illustrations? :)
No, not yet that I've seen.

I love E.R. and have all 15 seasons ripped and stored in my iTunes library and this is supposed to be like E.R. only 20 years later. So far I have been able to draw some parallels between characters of both shows and that's kind of fun.

I believe it's just because the main character's last name is Grey.

Err, didn't you sort of answer your own question? Gray's Anatomy is a classic medical text (and as far as I know still regularly used), and so it's a play on the main charater's name (Grey) and that book...given they are in a medical setting...

:)

I did not realize there was a Gray in the story. :)
