Choose what you want to do. Learn to say no. This is an important life skill that will serve you well in life.

In the world of work my boss tries to pile on more stuff. For years I would just say yes. Then work every evening and weekend to get it done (for free). Now I tell him I don’t have the time to look at this or that and if he wants me to do it I’ll need to drop something else.
This is really important, but sadly sometimes it is almost impossible. My work team is small and there is a lot to do, but at least we aren't running two programs simultaneously as we did previously.

I also have a small team. But you can still push back and say no. I work at a smaller company so I wear many hats.

My Z car has a G-Force meter … ha, will go into a parking lot on a weekend to see lateral G’s

No idea why, but the sight-reading portion of my brain just did not work today. New pieces in big band today - all fully notated and written-out piano parts. Usually this is not too difficult. I kept doing bad page turns for some reason, which was part of the problem. Since I can't attend Monday/Wednesday choir rehearsals, there was also new music there. They've already put it with the orchestra and everything, so I was way behind. I also felt like - although this is probably not true - that I was the ONLY one singing the divisi part. I couldn't hear anyone around me singing the divisi. No idea what that was about... Overall though, the music is coming together, and our choir concert is next week.

If I’m registered for a postal vote do they ship a hotdog to me for election day?
In Washington state (US) everybody votes by Mayo (that’s what the phone heard, which is so funny. We actually vote by mail.) Voting by mail is so cool and so convenient and I hope it never gets taken away. You can actually do your research carefully with a computer by your side in quiet privacy.

What would prevent you from doing your research carefully with a computer at home in quiet privacy prior to going to the polling station to cast your vote?

Nothing, really. I like the entire ballot in front of me. The hardest choices are always the judges. There's so little information out there to decide.

Eastern Washington is mostly a bunch of small towns with a lot of distance in between them. A lot of the farmers live a long way from even one of those small towns. Far more convenient to do it by mail than having to drive 20 miles to a polling station to vote.

I was working for a small political party many years ago and we had the county auditor come by and give a presentation on how mail-in voting works. That lady and her crew at the county elections office are a state treasure and they need to be cloned. It's amazing how well and how safe that process works.

Makes sense. I forgot that in some parts of the US you elect judges. Strange concept but that is the system. Don't some places also vote for dog catcher or is that an old joke?

Earlier today, I paid a visit to the farmers' market (where I bought oranges, raspberries, cucumber, tomatoes, carrots, onions, aubergines, courgettes, red peppers, several bulbs of new season's garlic, chilli peppers, herbs, (parsley, rosemary, thyme, coriander), salad greens, free range, organic eggs, rye bread in the French bakery, some cheese, and also some meat from the organic butcher's stall).

Unfortunately, the season for wild garlic pesto may be over (and four weeks ago, it hadn't commenced) - the two best stalls hadn't picked their supply, - though, it is still growing, they assured me - and another stall - where I had hoped to find wild garlic pesto - suggested that the season is coming to a close

Weather wise, unfortunately, it was a filthy day.

Took the Civic for a cruise by the sea with the sunroof open and some early 2k hiphop blasting.
Maybe this weather ain't so bad.
That’s fun 🤩

I miss going to the beach since I last went to La Jolla during a work trip.

May do 4th of July at Newport Beach this summer!

La Jolla is great. Haven’t been in a long time, but the band I toured with in California went down there for an afternoon just to hang out. I remember there being lots of really good restaurants.

I’ve never been there. Sounds fun though!

I haven’t been in California in two years. I’d love to go back. The Audio Engineering Society often holds conferences in Long Beach, which I’d like to attend. They just never work with my abnormal school schedule.

Speaking of music, lots of that happening this weekend and next week! Had a recording session this morning, a rehearsal this evening, and another recording session and rehearsal tomorrow. Then recitals, recitals, recitals (plus big choral/orchestral concert) next week and into next weekend. Not my recitals—all me as a sideman for classmates. Busy but fun!!

If they have summer conferences and you don’t have summer classes conflicting, you could give it a try.

By the way, what are your Easter plans? Many places will be closed tomorrow due to the holiday (including the Apple Store, which is why I’m holding off on picking up the free activity challenge pin there until the weekend after). So, I plan to attend virtual mass, catch up on the last few computer science homework assignments that I couldn’t finish because I was unwell, and watch the NBA playoff games.

I don’t take classes in the summer (besides, my college doesn’t offer them). So I’ll see. I can only go to certain ones since I am not an established professional with 40 years in the industry (yet).

But I’m trying to get some jobs lined up elsewhere. I’ve interviewed for two in Maine, one in New York, and one back home. So we’ll see how those work out—that’ll definitely determine where I am this summer. Honestly, the NY/ME ones would be great, but honestly I miss home a lot… haven’t been there since December. I’m sure it’ll be at least another couple weeks before I see any offers or rejections.

Nothing very interesting I’m afraid… two recording sessions tomorrow morning, followed by two rehearsals. Going to watch a friend’s piano recital tomorrow afternoon. I am, shall we say, “devoutly non-religious,” so I won’t be attending any services or such. I don’t venture out in the city as much as I probably should… but with this being a residential campus, everything is here.

Yep a lot as a music student and lots of concerts ! I don’t have as much on mind when it comes to Easter 🐣 and with lots of places closed due to the holiday tomorrow I just unwind and watch Easter service and then NBA playoffs.

Not planning to take summer school classes this year as I’m graduating and the university where I’m transferring to does not offer any summer courses for incoming students.

Also am awaiting for any callbacks for the internships and jobs I applied earlier in the spring back in March and February, when my NASA internship ended. I already heard back from Nvidia that they didn’t pick me for the summer internship, but NASA L Space and other NASA internships I applied still awaiting. If nothing does not work Apple Store will be the last resort.

Happy easter! Christos anesti! Christos voskresi! Al Maseeh Qam! Le Christ est réssuscité! Hristos a inviat! Christ is risen! I went to this historic Church in Geneva Russian Orthodox church* (the Greek church is quite far from where I live and I don't have a car nor is there bus service after midnight) there were many nationalities there - Slav (Russian, Ukrainian, Serbian, Romanian, a few Ethiopians and Greeks too). The fact that Easter is celebrated with the Catholic and Protestant calendar this year meant that bells from many churchs including the main cathedral of St. Pierre - where John Calvin preached- rang out. I admit I am not very observant but the traditions of my background as well as those of others are fascinating and important to me.

I am currently roasting a leg of lamb in my oven and awaiting company to come have a feast.

*btw under the ROC abroad - not the Moscow patriarch I don't want to get into politics but there was a split by some "White" pro-Tsar bishops after the Revolution and despite official reconciliation there remain "issues".

.
My wife and I just put a big Le Creuset pot containing six lamb shanks in the oven. Her adult kids will be joining us later. Enjoy your feast.
