My car's coolant tank burst. Thank goodness I was in the city. It cost me $2,000. Because my area is so hot and humid in the summer, there are many people like me who experience this problem. Mercedes couldn't get a service center to fix it, so I took it to a repair shop. The government needs to impose substantial fines on authorized service centers 😒

Okay, random thought: in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Rudolph is hated by “all of the other reindeer.” Santa asks Rudolph to drive his sleigh, but is that literally all it takes for all the reindeer to like him (“Then all the reindeer loved him…”). Also we don’t know if Rudolph ACTUALLY drives the sleigh. Anyway, random thoughts.

I remember as a kid my mom telling me she didn't like that song because the other reindeer only liked Rudolph after finding a use for him, but what if his red nose had no purpose and it was just who he was? They would've gone on making fun on him? The implications of children's songs and stories can sometimes be a bit disturbing 😅

I had always assumed (doubtless advised by my mother) that it was a song with a message to children that they shouldn't fear being different (at school, in the school yard) and that sometimes, the very reason for their difference (such as that red nose) can also become a source of strength and pride.

I understand how it can be seen either way.

Today in the UK there was an emergency message test. Mrs AFB went off. Mine did not. Both iPhone 12’s. Both running same IOS with same settings.

Go figure.

Oh well if there is a life threatening emergency, I can probably not worry about it!
I have a relative in England who heard sirens. No one was notified during the earthquake. If notifications had been received, thousands would have woken up and had the opportunity to escape. The Turkish government is going to fine Google billions of dollars for its faulty warning system, but the public opposes the fine. They're asking, "Where are the operators and the government when it comes to Google?" All three operators in my country are blatantly scams and can never provide service. I was in Istanbul the other day. Vodafone has no service in the heart of Istanbul and charges a monthly bill of 20 euros

Mu iPhone went off at 15.01 and then my Apple Watch at 15.10?

Last night, I watched an old episode of 21 Jump Street from the late 1980s. An undercover cop doing a job in a high school tries to infiltrate the school's computer club by talking about his "Macintosh II" with "extended memory." Part of me thinks it's fun having a reminder of when the Macintosh II was a Big Thing. But the extended memory? I don't remember ever hearing when I first became acquainted with the Macintosh (not long after that episode aired). The Macintosh II could take memory upgrades, but they were just upgrades. Maybe the cop didn't do enough research. (And, sadly, back then, a computer club probably wouldn't think much of a Mac, anyway.)

More woes with this medication, it's resulted in a complete loss of appetite. I don't think I've eaten a full meal since Friday. Tried eating some lunch just now and couldn't even get close to finishing it--I felt full after just a few bites. It has to be this medicine, I can't think of any other reason this would happen. Thankfully I'll be off it within the next few days.

I’m really annoyed that I’ve never been asked to play in reindeer games.

So… here’s what I’m going to do: I’m going to get some red LED lights and stick them up my nose. Then I’m going to go to Santa just before Christmas and casually walk past him so he can see how bright my nose is (trying not to show off too much). With any luck, Santa will ask me to guide his sleigh that night.

When that happens - I’ve got it made. Then… AND ONLY THEN… will I get invited to play in the reindeer games. Those games better not suck.

Im finally at my ideal weight. I look and feel amazing BUT now the hard part.. keeping it off. So far, I'm literally afraid to have a chocolate bar because I dont want to all back into old habits. I need to find a good balance, and with food, that's always been challenging for me.

What you have to do is think of the junk food as poisoned - because it likely is. I can bypass delcious looking ice cream because I know it probably has polysorbate-80 and I can ignore my once-favourite corn chips because they have GMO corn and canola.

My problem is now finding food that I can eat. (APEEL coating has been approved on ORGANIC fruit and vegetables??)

My folks taught me that early on--buying organic fruit, non-GMO items. THOUGH, I still do love the (likely ultra-processed) Walmart sugar cookies. Though I limit myself on those.

Congratulations. Having been overweight most of my life, I finally got to my ideal weight a few years back. I wasn’t eating a lot of crap anyway, so for me it was daily exercise that got me there.

I weigh myself once a week and adjust my exercise levels accordingly if I’ve put weight on. Usually a work trip away is the culprit for me.

Learn how to make proper Anzac Biscuits*
Nothing artificial, although you don't have to buy the rolled oats from Woolworths.
Great to munch on, and very good for you.
The recipe was designed to last months. This is because they were invented for Australian women to make them for their menfolk in WW1. They went from Australia to the European theatre by ship.

* The name is capitalised because, by law (really), you can only call them that if you use a traditional recipe.
Aldi make and sell something similar, but because it is similar, not identical, they call them Belmont biscuits.

Played a great show to a sizable crowd at the state fair tonight. It was great! Now for my complaining about things you probably don't care about... I play there pretty much every year with the same group, so I watched the video from 2022. I had an old Yamaha PSR keyboard at the time and it had this synth patch called "Skyline." I mainly used it to double horn lines. It had the timbre almost of an alto saxophone--super fat, gritty, and also piercing in the top end. The sound could cut through an entire horn section and was great for soloing with. NONE of my keyboards I currently own have that sound--Yamaha ditched it in their newer boards, and even the older MX61 I have doesn't include Skyline. Kind of a shame, I really miss that patch. Maybe I'll run across a cheap PSR sometime just for that sound lol.

Man I get that. It’s why I & most musicians I know have a lot of instruments/gear. Emulation is great and quite convincing/good nowadays but sometimes, only the real thing will provide what you need sonically/tonally speaking.
