Electronic keyboards are one thing (and I love good synth instrumental music), - I quite like them, and they are exactly what is needed in certain specific situations, although, in general, I prefer the clasci acoustic piano or harpsichord - but, for stringed instruments, personally, I far prefer the genuine article, be it guitars, violins, double bass, theorbos, lutes, etc.

while electric instruments have their acoustic relatives, I'm of the opinion that they should be treated as completely different things....although that does vary by the kind of instrument, but often the type of sound being produced is simply something different.

As an example, the sound, and thus the type of music produced with an electric guitar is vastly different than an acoustic guitar

Just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone in the MR community. I’m going through a tough time emotionally and it’s soothing to be with folks we have shared interests with. Thanks y’all. ❤️
I'm really sorry you're going through such a tough time... we're all here for each other and we're all helping each other out, at least that's my hope.

Like @Apple fanboy said, I hope the worst is already behind you. Sending my best wishes.

Sorry to hear that; many, if not most of us have gone through tough times emotionally, and I must say that I have found this community to have been both supportive and helpful then.

As @rm5 and @Apple fanboy have both said, I hope that the worst is already behind you and try to be kind to yourself.

Anyone else hate the new Chrome look? In light mode, it defaults to this god-awful blue color for the tab/address bar. In dark mode, at least it's dark gray. But the worst part is, when you go Customize Chrome > pick the deep black color, the accent color (when you highlight text in the address bar) is PINK!! PINK!! Doesn't match the system theme at all. I just don't get it... and there's no way to change it. But that blue tab bar, just WHY!

My mum and my godmother (her best friend from her posh boarding school - a "High Class Academy for Young Ladies") took a short holiday together in Pisa in the mid 1990s and were treated exceptionally well - with what can only be described as tender, loving, care, - two ladies of retirement age - by their Italian hosts in the small city centre hotel where they stayed. They had a brilliant holiday.

I have searched for new good plain meditation timers, and I even found one that had a Mac app too. Perfect! 😁
Could have been, if it had synced over devices, but no.
I am searching, exploring..
Doesn’t even have to be a meditation timer either.
Testing time tracking/habit apps with sync, checking, investigating.
One might work….
There’s more things that could be good to track.

Btw, our family visited Piza, Rome, Italy and Spain - before Mom died as she wanted to have a great time traveling with us.
I was 9 so I don’t recall places so clearly though, more Mom. That was the point too.

What's on my mind is the searing pain in my legs from being stung by a yellowjacket (yes, the same one) three times. This is what I get for trying to get out of the city and enjoy the outdoors. 😭
My sympathy, I got stung once years ago as an adult because I absent-mindedly swatted "something" on my arm. Also as a kid because of a nest in our backyard.

Damn. I got stung by a yellowjacket last year, and because it was the very first time I’d gotten stung by anything of the sort, I had no idea how my body would react.

Turns out I’m allergic to the venom and starting swelling up within minutes. Apparently all you have to do is take some Benadryl, but I had no idea. Rushed myself to the ER where they took their sweet time and tried to check me in for the night, which got me into an argument with them, all while standing there with a 150+ heart rate (thanks Apple Watch).

An hour later I got out of them that it’s Benadryl that I needed. So I left (after they made me sign a waiver that I was acting against medical advice), went to a CVS, grabbed the Benadryl off the shelf, and within an hour I felt so much better. Took another three days to fully heal, though.

And bonus, the hospital then sent me a $500 bill for all that.

Anyway, it was quite the learning experience for me. Hope you’re feeling better and all healed up soon!

I'm not American, hence, never having heard of it, (or, for that matter, ever before seen it in writing, until now), I had to look up the word "yellowjacket".

This is not a word we use in Europe, (or, in other English speaking countries), where that particular insect is better known by - or described by - the word/noun "wasp".

Anyway, wasp stings are nasty, and you have my sympathies.

Going home from my trip today. Can’t wait as I miss Mrs AFB.
Not been a great trip.
Traffic was bad getting here.
The trip to take photos yesterday on Skomer island (the reason we came) got cancelled due to bad seas.
Generally not enjoyed the other sociable aspects of the trip.
I always knew sharing a house with 9 other people would be challenging for me. But probably copped worse with it than I’d have hoped.

I just don’t enjoy these experiences anymore. At least I had my own room. But I could still hear the snoring from one of the other rooms. Been awake at 4 both mornings. Eventually got up at 5. It’s now 6 and I’ll go for a walk when I’ve finished my tea.
