Finally, it’s snowing, and it’s here to stay! We have about 14 inches here after it started snowing yesterday. The only bad part of it is that the temperature might rise above freezing, which might turn into ice when it freezes again.
14 inches?! Ridiculous! I was shocked by the 2 inches we got the other day.

Here, the wind is just crazy. Luckily it isn't very cold.
Good, I'm glad to hear it.

However, you are in a part of your country where winters are long, and cold, and the snow lies long and deep.

Anyway, my electric blanket is on, I am sipping a glass of wine, I have written my (detailed) thoughts on Independence Square (the latest book in the Arkady Renko series by Martin Cruz Smith) in the books thread, and now, some music calls.

Haha, I have to say, wine and music are the best partners of reading.

Worked for the French. Of course, the French revolutionaries had greater numbers on their side than Fawkes.
Bear in mind that they (the French revolutionary government) did go through the motions of putting him (and his lady wife) on trial, - before their subsequent respective executions - and yes, I think that we can assume that the verdict was pretty much a foregone conclusion - much as the English had done earlier in 1649 with Charles I (who challenged the legitimacy of the court - citing the divine right of kings - and its right to try him; I've read the transcript - it is fascinating).

A much better solution all round, methinks.

I finally know summer is finally gone, I’ve now drunk my afternoon coffee hot, instead of iced, for a whole week!
Alas, summer is well gone, so far gone that even the dissolving memory has disappeared in the rear view mirror of the mind.
For the record, mornings coffee is always hot.
Always hot, always, in the morning.

A piping hot coffee (and a piping hot shower) are non negotiable in the mornings of my life.

all this talk of cold weather has me wondering when I'll have to start wearing long pants and a long sleeve shirt when I go outside for a walk
