Yesterday was warm enough here that I could have windows and the sliding glass door open. Lovely! Today, I found that overnight the weather did a big flipflop and it is a mere 44° and raining, to boot! UGH!!!! Ah, fickle November.....
Sounds like Albuquerque, NM. Yesterday bright sunny mid-fifties; today rainy and 44˚F

all this talk of cold weather has me wondering when I'll have to start wearing long pants and a long sleeve shirt when I go outside for a walk
When the weather gets too cold, I don’t go out unless it's necessary, not to mention going for a walk. I feel like my legs are not my own. Oh, and there are also icy roads.

When I lived in Minnesota, during the cold part of the year there were times when 5º (-15ºC) felt pleasantly delightful......people would go outside for a walk at lunch time and come across other people from neighboring offices who were also out enjoying the break in the cold weather. It was just necessary for life to go on, so people adapt to it.

Ultimately I came to my senses and moved to a warmer location

I was reading something on the Interwebs, and was reminded of this story.

Quite some decades ago, the 12-year-old daughter of a friend of mine was involved in a swim-a-thon.
The sweet, wee little lass signed up a whole heap of people for $5 a lap, and they assumed they would be up for $5, $10, maybe $15 at most.
The wee, sweet little minx swam 10 laps...

In a coffee shop.
Saw a former (academic) colleague for coffee, and picked up a few things in the farmers' market (cherry tomatoes, herbs, - thyme, sage, rosemary, - and fresh garlic, some French, onions, some salad greens, and plenty of oranges); unfortunately, they were out of raspberries and quinces, (although I still have some quinces left), and the butcher's stall was also out of chicken pieces.

Planning to go see my wife’s debut on her new adult synchronized ice-skating team. It’s the first show of the competitive season, and this is a brand new team she is apart of. I feel so proud.
I'll admit that when I saw "adult" I thought it was something else. ;) I hope you enjoy it.

I just got back from my yearly visit to Israel to see my brother and his family. He's in a "safe" part of Jerusalem. We did have one air-raid warning and I think I heard the boom of an interceptor but it was otherwise a subdued time. We're all "lefties" so the conflicts were hard when talking about the situation.

We went to a parking lot where farmers had brought their produce that couldn't be transported normally. The most beautiful tomatoes I have ever seen.

I was on my first Zoom call. It was a meeting of some of my far flung relatives on my father's side. Interesting.

Stay safe and take care.

I hear you; this cannot be easy.

And the scent - the aroma - (not to mention the taste) from tomatoes that have become acquainted with the heat of the sun is simply amazing.

My boss was over their visiting family when the war started. The day after he finally got back, he had a family bereavement and had to head back. Terrible timing. He’s back now though.

Hope your family stay safe.

Here my electric blanket is already on. Not sure I’ll still be awake for MOTD. But that’s what iPlayer is for.

Thanks. I'm back safe and sound. I even got an empty seat next to me. Unheard of on El Al. :)

I never got any tomatoes! There were so many people we couldn't get near the bins. :) I'm sure they sold out.

Good to hear about the spacious seat arrangements on El Al; tragic that you didn't manage to obtain any tomatoes that had enjoyed a harmonious relationship with the sun.

That is terrible timing, and must be very rough for him.

Godd to hear that has returned safely.

Agreed.

A timely reminder; I'll put mine on in around half an hour or so.

Just wear either wind-proof or insulated relaxed-fit long pants. The air between the skin and loose-fit clothing forms a layer of insulation, but if you suffer from low-blood circulation, insulated pants like the casual wear and relatively inexpensive ones sold at Costco and other stores could help. Skin-tight clothing are the worst wear to keep your body warm. Wear layers of synthetic garments underneath a windproof outer jacket or parka, and don't forget a scarf, stocking cap, gloves, and moisture-resistant boots that have room inside for wearing a pair of warm synthetic-wool blend socks. Never wear boots or shoes that fit tightly on your feet (you want lots of room for thick and warm synthetic socks). Enjoy the cold winter :)

Natural fibres - and only natural fibres - for me, I'm afraid; due to skin sensitivities, I am unable to wear synthetic fibres (my father was the same).

Three layers for me, so far, and yes, some heat is on.

For me, it is my feet.

Woollen socks, - I wish shoes came with central heating, or something thermal.

Amen to that.

A much warmer house.
No heat on here. I have thick socks on I usually reserve for hiking. And slippers. Well I call them slippers, but they are more of a slip on trainer that I just wear indoors. Our ceramic tiles are not too forgiving for actual slippers and my feet require a bit more support than they offer.

Well, I have electric heating on (in two rooms) until the other kicks in, later.

Otherwise, I think that I would just stay in bed, as the kitchen would be just too cold to cook in, (try cooking with cold hands, brrrrr), - let alone eating - and waiting for the oven to heat the kitchen up would be a real nuisance.

However, an apple dish, roasted apple, does sound a good idea.
