I'm 100% sure the doctor will say Astigmatism. I don't want to wear glasses.
Are you a specialist in eye care, and a diagnostician and practitioner in eye medicine?

If not, then, with respect, no, you cannot say that you are "100% sure" of anything.

This is because you lack the knowledge, the judgment, the experience and the qualifications to be able to assert anything of the sort, let alone with "100%" certainty.

Now, - and I write as someone who has worn spectacles since I was seven - to be candid, if your choice is between donning a pair of prescription spectacles, or impaired (and/or painful) vision, then, I am not so "sure" that there is a real contest, or conflict, between options.

However, if there is to be a dilemma between vanity and vision, well, this is yet another topic worth exploring in your conversation with an eye specialist, which one devoutly hopes will take place in the near future.

Glad it’s recycling wheelie bin this week not rubbish.
The rubbish bin is never even a third full for our fortnightly collection and as such would definitely be blown away!

We are having another storm in the UK. I feel for those who haven’t recovered from the last one.

Apart from weekly wheelie bin pickups (normal waste, green waste & recyclables) we have two 'kerbside pickups' a year. This is for those things (old couches, mattresses, unwanted husbands...) that don't normally fit.

At ungodly o'clock this morning, a truck came around our street doing such a pick up, with lots of crashing, banging noises, flashing lights, the lot.

Somebody thought they had missed the weekly pickup (which is in two days time, but who's thinking at ungodly o'clock in the morning?) and after the truck had left we heard a series of wheelie bins being brought out.

Oh, good grief.

That post rings so many bells.......yes, (embarrassed cough) I may have been - have almost been - that person, blinking blearily at ungodly o'clock as crashing, banging noises, and flashing lights interrupt my sleep.

In the year or so following my mother's death, the carer, bless her, (who, by then, was already caring for others), would text me to remind me to put out the bins on the appropriate day.

I remember those twice a year oversize pick up from when I was a kid. it was the time to go out late at night to go scavenging. We would roam the neighborhood with our screwdrivers wrenches and hammers. Looking for anything that had wheels or anything that looks like it was a piece of electronics, working or not. We thought it was a great old time, but I’m sure all our parents dreaded it.

We used to have something like that where I used to live, but it stopped years ago. But here in our small village? Definitely not.

I cut up our old sofa. It was broken and not fit to donate ( we had it for about 18 years). I just put it in the bin over a couple of weeks and kept the wood.

Anyway before I went to bed the wind really got up so I moved the bin back against the garage door. It’s protected there, but the right side of the gate to just wheel out in the morning.

Also just as I was going to bed the power cut out. Again no doubt due to the high winds. Came back on a few hours later. So no electric blanket when I went to bed. But warmed up soon enough.

In a coffee shop.
Or heating. But it came back in at some point in the night.
Ah, good.
Plenty of regular blankets plus the duvet meant I was fine.
Fair enough, but I'll readily admit that having to go without my electric blanket (and I also have plenty of regular blankets and - when needed - two duvets) would be a serious deprivation at this time of year.

Was ambushed by the bizarrely early - and quite unexpected, that early, at least, - appearance and arrival of the bin company - and dashed out to ensure that my bins were out, (catching them just in time), and was surprised by my neighbour (in pyjamas and jumper) dashing to get her bins out in time, as well.

Windy conditions last night meant that deferring putting out bins until this morning was deemed prudent.

A confession. I took mine back in last night. Emptied this morning and back round the back.

I'm thinking why people have opsigenes, I'm in so much pain that I can't eat and sleep.
Pain and all kind of various emotions and experiences are part of life. It’s how our species evolve, get stronger and grow in awareness and consciousness.
Hope you seek appropriate help, maybe a dentist can help you, with your problems.

I hope summer will come soon. Winter is too cold for me.
Personally I like all seasons.

But the favorites have shifted, and the position on the top list have usually with other things to do then degrees and weather. Such as life situations, and inner climate so to speak.

I'm curious as to what your bins are like.

In the old days, we had metal and then plastic cans. And we had a cart to roll them out to the street. But they were hand picked and thrown on the truck.

For the past 15 or so years, in both places I have lived, they are larger 96 gallon rolling cans that are mechanically picked up by the truck and dumped in the back. Like a small dumpster.

My parents always tell me of how in the 1970s (and I guess through the 80s) they just took their garbage bags out to the curb to be picked up. No trash bin or anything, just the bag. Though I guess it depends where you grew up.

My memory is that in the UK we've gone from dustbins (Round metal bins with lids you could use as play shields) circa 1970s where everything was just chucked in loose, then to bagged rubbish in said dustbins (80s), then the bins were dropped and bagged rubbish was collected as you described, then to wheelie bins and now to multiple wheelie bins (we have 4) with a somewhat complicated collection cycle... (Our bins are - refuse (non recycle), paper and card, plastics and metals plus a garden waste bin (extra cost) - there's no real standardisation here from council to council but most places are converging to similar'ish collections.)

Edit - agh, forgot the little food bin which holds bagged food waste (so that makes 5!) but that goes off for composting

My neighborhood has two different systems currently. There are houses and smaller apartment buildings that use a system like yours with the mechanically equipped trucks picking up the cans to dump them in the truck.

And then there are apartment buildings that use dumpsters. The current company handling the dumpsters has a smaller pick-up sized truck that scurries around the neighborhood collecting and placing them all at one intersection where they sit until a garbage truck arrives to pick up and empty the dumpsters one by one. Once that's happened the smaller truck distributes them back around the area.

Here, when it's not cold, it's dark and dreary, and when it's sunny, it's frigid. Where I grew up, if it was sunny, it was warm, and when it was cloudy, it was warm.

I can now understand the immense desire for spring to come.
This is winter in northern climes, (and latitudes).

Actually, this is an excellent description of winter.

I have written here (endlessly, each year as it approaches) of how much I loathe winter, the wet, the cold, that awful dismal, dreary, darkness, but, above all, I detest the light deprivation of winter.

My hair, which I got cut not even a month ago, and now it's already starting to get long again. I had them cut it very short in hopes that it'd take longer to grow back, but nope! I'm going to have to do something about that pretty soon, I guess...

Also, a business out of North Carolina (what??? This is random...) contacted me about doing some video work, so we'll see where that goes. That'd be good if I can do some of that, I've been out of practice.

New haircut, new avatar. It’s all change for you.
During lockdown I started cutting my own hair. Just carried on since. Mrs AFB does the bits I miss.

Ah, yes, just noticed that you seem to have a new avatar.

Hey, hair grows, and sometimes, surprisingly quickly, especially in summer.

I had a haircut a week before Christmas, - I wear it short, and like it short - and am currently mulling over when exactly to have my next haircut, as, yes, surprise, even in deadest, darkest, winter, hair still grows.

Good luck with the video work opportunity; that sounds very promising.
